Experiences from UK Retreat 2018
Our scriptures state that every incident is a passing cloud, bringing with it happiness or trials and tribulations. What helps us tide over the difficult aspects is the faith in the Supreme. Our beloved Mohanji always takes care, gently pushing these dark clouds away with the least impact on us.
This is exactly what Moushumi, her daughter Esha and husband Prabhakar have shared in this testimonial where a seemingly large problem drifted away into oblivion by the grace of Mohanji! A strong thread of faith and surrender weaves its way through the three different experiences in the same incident!
Moushumi’s Narration:
To start with, I would like to mention that if you surrender with faith to your GURU, then your Guru takes care of you.
Here is a lovely miracle from the recent London retreat, UK on 12th August 2018. This is an experience that we were blessed with as a family – my husband Prabhakar, my daughter Esha and I.
This beautiful day commenced with Deviji’s Yoga, followed by satvik vegan breakfast and then Satsang with Mohanji. After the Satsang, we went to our rooms for tea as directed by Mohanji.
The above written quote by Mohanji, we actually experienced it that day.
Now, let me share what I experienced.
When we went into the room, I found the lights were on, my purse was somewhere else, but I did not give it a second thought and came out. Meanwhile, the family staying in the next room were talking to someone about a theft. Hearing this, I rushed back into the room and suddenly realised as to why the lights were on, the purse wasn’t in its proper place and things were in disarray. I noticed that my mobile, the car key and the home keys were stolen. I spoke to Vijayji (the organiser) who was already talking to someone in the main hall where Mohanji was chatting with a few people. Vijayji made an announcement in the hall about the incident. Just then, my daughter walked in and came to know that not only my mobile, but also the car keys along with home keys were stolen from the room. She started crying, as she was worried that the thieves could drive to our home and do something to her six months old pet Hamster (OREO).
I consoled her, and my husband and I again headed back to our room.
When I opened the door of my room again, the vibrations in the room were different – one of calm and peace. I walked in and to my surprise found that both the keys were on the top of a small tub containing a moisturizer cream, the usual place for the keys to be in! Initially, it was confusing, as the table was exactly in front of the main door and the keys were lying there on the small tub – in direct view. As I was heading towards the hall, Mohanji was coming out of the hall and he asked me directly, “Did you find the keys?” I replied in the affirmative. (I did not understand why he asked me only about the keys). He asked, “What else is missing?” I replied, “Mobile and £5 or £10.” He said, “That’s ok, first go and tell Esha that you got the car keys; she is crying.” In fact, then Mohanji himself spoke to her and I stood there speechless for a few seconds, as the realisation of the situation hit me! If there is total faith in the Guru and complete surrender, anything is possible!.
Later on, as I put the pieces together, realisation dawned that when my daughter spoke to Mohanji about her hamster, he told her that he would do whatever he could! He kept up his promise. It wasnt difficult to comprehend that He kept His promise because first of all it was Esha’s request that too in the compassion for a helpless tiny being! We see Mohanji’s love for little children, the purest forms of divine as well as the helpless animals and other beings. If it meant to do something out of way to make Esha relax about her pet Oreo, so be it. He did what He needed to. It’s needless for us to worry about how did he do that, when he was physically in the hall amongst 40/50 people? Divine answer to innocent pure souls calls, are usually unexplainable!
The entire incident happened within a gap of few minutes – going to the room for the first time, finding things stolen, talking to Vijayji, and then returning to the room and finding my keys on a very small tub. It was surprising as I am a meticulous person and particular about placing things in its correct place. The question from Mohanji asking only about the keys was even more surprising. Mohanji’s reply to Esha about her pet hamster, “I shall do whatever I can”, says it all. It was indeed a miracle!
The day we met Mohanji in December 2016, Esha connected with him instantly. Every night before sleep, she likes to watch Mohanji’s videos. When I told Mohanji about this, he said that she is very much connected to him.
Such a blessing, having Mohanji in our lives!
Esha’s Narration
My mum and I went into our room at Gilwell Park and found the lights on in the room. I just suspected that dad left the lights on in the room, as he was the last one out. My mum was a bit more alarmed than I was. I used the bathroom and then went to play with some of my friends. Meanwhile, mum went into the room to get her phone.
My friend and I were playing in her room (which was right next door to ours), when my mum came in and said frantically, “Have you seen my phone!” We responded with a no and then, with a serious/worried expression on her face, she went to ask my dad. I followed her. When dad replied no, all three of us went back to our room. Mum showed us her purse which had all its zippers open, my books were open on the bed, my toy dog was under the pillow and my mum’s phone was gone. All of us looked everywhere for it but it wasn’t anywhere.
I carried on playing because mum said I could go and play. Soon, I started feeling very thirsty, so I went into the main hall to get a drink. I saw my mum and dad talking to someone. I went over and overheard my mum saying that the car and home keys were missing. Suddenly I felt very worried. If the thieves had the home keys, then they might be able to get into the house. I thought that if the thieves were smart enough to take the keys without anyone seeing them do it, they might be smart enough to find out where our house is. I was getting worried and I started to cry. If the thieves get into the house, who knows what they might do to my pet hamster!
Mum and Dad started comforting me, but I could tell they were worried as well. Suddenly my parents were called out of the hall, but I was still crying. Some women came over and asked questions like, “What happened”, and “What’s wrong!” I told them, and they said that things are going to be OK. Then, Aunty Subhasree came over and assured me not to worry, as my mum will get a new and better phone. But I told her about my hamster (called Oreo) being at home and the thieves might be able to get into the house. Then she told me “go and hug Mohanji. Everything will be alright.” Then she took me to Mohanji who was standing a few feet away. Aunty Subhasree explained to him that I am crying because my Hamsters are at risk, since we cannot get into the home as home keys are stolen! Mohanji hugged me and said that He will do what He can. His words made me feel relaxed and I cheered up a bit. I just knew that He would make sure nothing bad happens to Oreo. The next minute, my mum came in running saying, “I found the keys, I found the keys!” I was so gleeful, and I thanked Mohanji with all my heart. When we were walking back to the room, Mohanji came up to me and said, “Did you find the keys?” I replied to him saying yes and I said, “I am so happy. Thank You, Mohanji!” Mohanji smiled.
Prabhakar’s Narration
Here’s my husband Prabhakar’s write up of the miracle that he experienced:
I always tend to carry my laptop when I go on trips. Also, as the retreat was to end on Tuesday and I was on leave from office, I had promised my project manager that I would take a call from the office for an hour on Monday. While packing, I ensured that I included the laptop among the items to be taken. There was no rush as we were leaving the house and somehow, I just did not feel the urge to carry the laptop with me and so left it behind. The theft happened on Sunday at the hotel & my laptop could have gone missing. More than the laptop, the precious non-backed up pictures & personal documents would have been lost!
During such programs like the retreat, I always make sure not to carry any electronic devices such as the mobile with me. I put the mobile in my pocket at break time to practise the bhajan that I was planning to sing in the evening (first time ever in life, I thought of singing & wanted to rehearse!). When I returned to the hall, I realised that the mobile was still in my pocket & Mohanji had arrived by then. The mind commanded to quickly rush and leave the mobile in the room. In spite of the prompting of the mind, I did not take any action and I still can’t remember why! Had I left the mobile in the room, it would have been stolen!
The Guru’s ways of working are beyond what the mind can comprehend. Firm faith & acceptance will take us to great heights in our individual journey is my learning from this incident.

Vijay Ramanaidoo’s Narration
This is a really amazing incident! While I was in the satsang hall during the retreat I saw three youths walking towards the side of the lodge where we were staying. Then about 10 minutes later I saw then running away at great speed. I thought at the time that it looked suspicious not realising that they were the ones who had broken in (subsequently confirmed by the children who had been playing near the exit). After the satsang ended and people headed to their rooms Moushumi approached me in a distressed state about the theft from the room listing all the missing items including car keys and house keys. Esha, her daughter was also in tears. They were especially worried about the keys wondering how they would get home and into their house. Esha was worried about her hamster at home. When Moushumi went back into the room after speaking to me, she came running out again saying that the burglars had returned the keys! I was wondering what kind of burglar it must have been to take money, mobile, house keys and car keys, plus take items from other rooms, then to return both sets of keys to her room without being seen! Even if they did return them, how could they remember that it was this exact room and how would they dare enter again! I initially thought that maybe she hadn’t seen the keys when she first went in after the burglary. However the keys were placed on top of a tub of cream on the table – so visible and very easy to see. There was no way that they were there before! Moushumi also said that she is so particular that she notices any small thing that is out of place, Prabhakar said the same thing to me. It seems that this was all a drama in order to demonstrate an act of grace and increase our faith. Plus to comfort a little girl worried about her hamster! Jai Mohanji 😊🙏💜
