The Sacred Reminder

by Manoranjan Sahu, India

A Divine Leela of Lord Hanuman and Blessings of Guru Mohanji that was sacred

An interesting experience from Chitrakoot Annakshetralaya Seva

With immense gratitude and reverence, I wish to share a miraculous experience that filled our hearts with awe, surrender, and deep bhakti.

When Ammucare decided to establish an Annakshetralaya at Chitrakoot, I was entrusted with the divine task of replicating the sacred Annadaan setup from Kashi (Varanasi). I arrived in Chitrakoot two weeks before the planned launch to make all the necessary arrangements. We finalised the location, procured the necessary utensils, and prepared the space with great care and devotion. At the heart of it all, we installed the sacred photographs of Guru Mohanji and Mother Annapoorneshwari, lit a lamp of divine intention, and placed our banners in readiness to begin seva.

It was planned that each day, food would be lovingly cooked, offered to the Divine, and then served to sadhus and pilgrims who embodied tapasya and faith. Then, on the 1st of June, we launched the Annakshetraalya and performed our first Annadaan — feeding around 200 sadhus and pilgrims in the name of our Guru Mohanji. We shared glimpses of this offering on our social media, overwhelmed by the grace that flowed.

But the next day, something deeply mysterious happened — something that shook us and awakened us.

As I was at the lodge, I received a call from our cook. He described a strange and intense scene — a group of monkeys had stormed into the Annakshetralaya in fury, screeching and causing chaos. They threw the food, toppled items, and even burnt the tablecloth, the lamp, and the photographs. Mohanji’s photo was completely burnt, and Annapoorneshwari’s image was partially damaged. And yet, they ate nothing… they left, creating chaos.

With trembling hands and a heavy heart, I messaged Mohanji, praying for forgiveness if we had unknowingly made any mistake. Mohanji, in his infinite compassion, immediately replied:

“Don’t worry. Feed as many monkeys as possible while chanting this mantra.”

This made me realise that it was not an accident. It was a divine sign!.

That very moment, we bowed our heads in realisation. From that day forward, we began feeding the monkeys with bananas and love, offering the food with prayerful chanting of the mantra given by Mohanji. Later, while discussing with Prashant, we remembered — three years ago, Mohanji had instructed us to start feeding monkeys in Chitrakoot… and we had forgotten.

This was no ordinary incident. This was a powerful reminder — a direct message from Lord Hanuman and our beloved Guru Mohanji.

Chitrakoot is teeming with lakhs of monkeys, and in each one of them, we now see the divine presence of Hanuman ji, the beloved servant of Lord Ram. Their sudden appearance was a Leela — a sacred act of correction and grace. It was Hanuman ji shaking us out of forgetfulness, reminding us that seva is for all beings, not just humans. Every creature is a spark of the Divine. From that day, Ammucare’s Annakshetralaya doesn’t just feed sadhus and pilgrims — it also lovingly feeds Hanuman ji’s army, the monkeys of Chitrakoot.

Mohanji had told us:

“Lord Hanuman comes in human form every day to our Annakshetralaya to receive food. Serve with devotion, bhakti, love, and care.”

These words pierced our hearts. What greater blessing could there be? To serve the one who served Lord Ram with unmatched bhakti — and to do it under the loving gaze of Mohanji. We now serve with deeper humility, unconditional love, and unwavering bhakti, knowing that Lord Hanuman himself may receive every meal we serve. This journey is not just about Annadaan. It is about transformation through seva, about awakening bhakti, about remembering that when we serve with surrender, the Divine walks among us.

Jai Siyaram! Jai Hanuman! Jai Mohanji!

Forever at the feet of my Guru and the Lord who walks in silence but roars through grace.
