Day 1 – On the way to Zurich
The day started auspiciously with Kriya training led by Delo from the South African Team. 4 wonderful hours finished very quickly with group Kriya practice and then an immediate exit to the car for my journey to Heathrow.
Yes, Mohanji was in Zurich, and I was on my way …..
The parking venue was entered into the Sat Nav, and everything went apparently smoothly until I arrived at the destination represented by the correct post code – no parking venue to be seen. Okay, no panic yet. As I knew I was on the correct road and had some time, I decided to drive along and see if I could see a relevant sign for the car park.
The road turned out to be miles long in both directions, and half an hour passed, and still, there was no visible sign of the car park… Okay, stress levels are now rising, and it’s time to call on God Sai Baba and Mohanji. There are 330 million deities, each representing a frequency that we can connect to, and my need for connection was pressing and strong.
I pulled into a car park – not the correct one, of course, but noticed what seemed to be an official-looking person leaving the car park in a car, official because he was wearing a high Viz Yellow vest. Now a bit desperate, I flagged him down – my comfort zone was now a spot in the rear view mirror, and I had to resort to direct action. He stopped, which for London is a miracle – I wasn’t looking too mad and desperate then. We spoke, and I explained my predicament.
I was some miles away from the car park when he started giving complex directions. Cue my best ‘puss in boots look’ from Shrek the Movie. He offered to drive his car to the venue, and I could follow him. Feeling utmost gratitude for the kindness of strangers, I arrived at the car park with 120 minutes to go before take-off.
The bus service from the car park to the terminal wasn’t leaving for another 20 minutes and would take a minimum of 25 minutes to reach the terminal. Slight discomfort arose, but we got to the terminal with 60 minutes left on the clock. Straight into departure, we remarkably quickly passed through security to find the flight delayed by 30 minutes – never had I been more grateful for a delayed flight.
Mohanji advises that you must forget bad experiences through higher understanding and acceptance. Do not attach yourself to the emotions attached to a situation. Emotion plus situation creates a file in your subconscious. Emotion is the glue that sticks the file of each situation to your subconscious. This stays in your hard drive and creates a reality again in the future. So, understand that such an incident has taken place, understand that it was supposed to happen. Take the message from the incident and keep it in your reference file. Discard the incident as dead and gone.
Reflecting on the experience, there was no doubt that emotional panic was present – I didn’t want to miss Mohanji in Switzerland – but I remembered that many years ago, I was the person driving a lost soul to their destination in a similar fashion. Had the experience arisen to balance out the previous good karma? I remember at the time that I was glad to give service to another, and I think this is the point – if you consider yourself as a separate being and that you are serving another, then you create karma. The Masters repeatedly guide you in that you are only serving yourself – do not see another, and do not be attached to your actions even if they are apparently good.
Mohanji has often discussed the importance of contemplation and reflection in facilitating transformation. Let your thoughts nurture you, enrich you, and empower you so that, eventually, we will see ourselves transforming. There is no time limit or age limit for this. All we need is just that fire inside – that fire to understand, assimilate, and align, the fire to transform.
If you have that agni inside, that kind of attitude, then these foods for thoughts will grow very, very rapidly within. What is important is your attitude, the attitude to transform, your attitude to destroy your comfort zones and evolve. And it will definitely help you see the world differently, see your life differently.
My seat on the plane had been randomly assigned – 18D, okay, a multiple of 9, so a God Number, and all is good…. I was seated next to an Indian lady and her young son. Yes, she turned out to be a Shirdi Sai Baba devotee and had been to Shirdi as well as Puttaparthi. We talked about Shirdi Sai, and I introduced Mohanji and his satsang in Zurich. Out came my iPad, and we looked at my stored photographs for some time.
She had not heard of Mohanji, and her home was in Germany. She explained that it was difficult to find a local temple for worship, at which point I mentioned that Mother Meera was based in Germany. She was genuinely happy to spend the flight talking about Shirdi Sai, and this helped me, too – an impromptu satsang maintained the connection.
Arrival meant the challenge of getting to the hotel – I had already worked out that a taxi would cost at least £70.00, so I decided to get the train into Zurich from the airport. It turned out I would need two trains – there was no official to ask, so I approached an impeccably turned out young Swiss lady and asked for help; she gave me directions and where to go to change trains – she realised at some point that there was a quicker alternative route so she returned to me to give that advice – cue my limited German thank you very much.
Arrived at the hotel and assigned room 504 – another 9, another sign, and tomorrow Mohanji….
Day 2 – Meeting Mohanji
My walking route from the hotel to the Mohanji event venue was planned – it would take about 35 minutes, so off I went, thinking that at least this should be straightforward. Except that, I had not counted on the event being located behind another building, so it was not visibly apparent – cue the lost wandering once again – once more on the right road looking for yet another hidden-from-sight venue.
This was early Sunday morning, so there were not many people around to ask, and then I spotted a young Muslim lady and asked for help. She did her utmost to help but couldn’t find the venue location on Google Maps either. I then recalled seeing a couple walking into a building back along the road, which was signed as a restaurant- I thought it was odd for a Sunday morning, so I went back and walked into the foyer to spot a Mohanji signposting the location through a Labyrinth of stairs and lifts to a building behind the visible entrance. I had arrived.
On arrival at the venue, I held up a Mohanji card, and my photo was taken, which has since appeared on Facebook. I was ready for a heart-opening session with Mohanji.
Swami Govinda was there helping to set up and I was very pleased to see him. The first session was yoga practice with a trained practitioner from the Himalayan School of Yoga. I planned to sit this out – yoga practice was something I did regularly around 30 years ago and not since.
The universe had different plans. ‘Here’s a yoga mat, Michael,’ said Swami Govinda. Scratch my original plan and I set up next to Swami. People say there is something called muscle memory. I am not so sure, but I intently followed the practice. I had hoped that we would start with Yoga Nidra, but that was not to be……
With yoga practice finished, we moved on to a signature Mohanji meditation session, ‘Blossoms of Love,’ which was perfect for the theme of the day. I have experienced this meditation before, so I knew what to expect – I had noticed that in previous sessions, I was all too ready to dive into the cosmic universal expansion of love as narrated by Mohanji, but this time, I was happy to be simply with me – it was helping to ground my experience. In life, the small things really matter.
Conscious Dancing was up next, and with Devi, I had previously engaged with energy and found it significantly beneficial. However, I wanted to sit this one out and meditate. I found a chair and assumed the posture. Then I heard a voice, ‘You can’t sit this out, Michael, you’re such a good dancer,’ said Swami Govinda. He was right. Conscious Dancing is such a joy and epitomises the spirit of heart opening, balancing, and aligning the other chakras. I was once more in the groove to paraphrase Madonna.
With Conscious Dancing completed, Mohanji arrived for satsang. I sensed that his energy appeared to be very playful, and after a brief introduction, the question and answer session commenced with questions pre-prepared from the audience. Aligned with the theme, the energy was very light-hearted, and Mohanji moved through the answers so that time passed very quickly. The satsang finished at 5:10 pm, and my flight back was boarding at 7:00 pm.
Time would be tight as I would need to catch a tram and then a train to get to the airport. I approached Mohanji to say goodbye, and he greeted me with incredible kindness and love. I explained why I would have to leave immediately, and this would mean missing the group photo and Shaktipat. By way of context for the reader, I had to catch the flight because the next day, I was flying off to Turkey with Jenny, and a missed flight would jeopardise all that and our planned holiday.
Mohanji touched me on my arm, and I immediately felt an energy transfer. He then said with such love, ‘You’re not going before the group photo, are you? ‘There was no way I could go now. Mohanji then announced that people were leaving and that we needed the group photo: Cue Thea, people arrangement, and stepladders for optimal photo positioning and capture. Mohanji positioned me next to him for the photo. His energy was intense within the group. I wonder what is going on with the group photos; they aren’t just photographs.
Mohanji had asked me in a roundabout way to stay for the photo and not Shaktipat, which I felt he had already given when he touched me. His energy in a group is significant and tangible and being in the photo with Mohanji is clearly important on a number of levels. The photographs of Masters carry immense spiritual energy and we are being recorded within the energy field of a Master.
I left straight after the photograph. I found the tram station, or so I thought and bought a ticket. My internal voice suggested I was on the wrong platform so once again approached a stranger for help. Yes confirmed I should be on another platform. Moved to the correct platform and recognised a Swiss couple from the satsang who kindly offered to make sure I got off the correct station.
To cut a long story short, security and passport control at the airport took an age, and I got to the boarding gate at 7:00 pm, the time I had told Mohanji that I was boarding. Fortunately, departure was delayed due to freak lightning around the airport. The energy of lightning is enormous, cleansing the atmosphere and delivering elements to the earth in a concentrated and targeted form. Mohanji was, after all, in Zurich……
We made it to Turkey to find that our room had been prepared with the form of Ganesha and Saraswati on the bed (an elephant and two swans) – two energies that I lovingly relate to – awareness of cosmic consciousness and the Mother. Another photo taken….. another leela enjoyed!
