Lessons living with Mohanji – Days 93 & 94

Yesterday, I received a great question from somebody. I felt that the answer I was sharing was also useful for this voice recording because it could give more of a dimension to Mohanji about how he approaches life, and especially how he approaches people. The question was: “Does Mohanji ever get irritated or show any sign of emotion when dealing with such a high volume of different people, where some people may be genuine, and others have impossible expectations?”

This morning, and part of yesterday, I was reflecting on the concept of gratitude for what Mohanji has developed for the global family that we all have, which we’re all part of, and we all share. We’re seeing how many people who left Mohanji in the past for various reasons now want to come back. But often can’t because either their ego blocks or the space they once had is no longer available as now there are new people, a new organization, and a new situation.

I have to say that travelling with Mohanji was a real shakeup for me. I knew it would be busy; I knew it would be quite fast-paced and hectic. But it was a realisation for me of all the subtle expectations that I have in day-to-day life, which I hadn’t considered before. Usually, when I think of expectations, it’s the big things; trying to have a job, have a position, live in a particular location, maybe being treated a certain way by people. Those are the most obvious things.

This morning we woke up in a hilltop location, close to the land we’re visiting today. We arrived late last night (I think it was close to 12 am) on this winding, bumpy, narrow track, right to the top where we are now located. This morning we sat on a veranda looking at nature, the surrounding areas of the hills and the trees. It’s a peaceful, quiet, and tranquil setting with clean air and silence—ideal for practice.

I always appreciate the simplicity that Mohanji brings in when he speaks, where he reminds us that this path we’re following, the Avadhoota path, is to become ourselves fully. The fact is that we are all unique creations, unique beings. It’s all about understanding ourselves. He says it very simply that all we have to do is just spend time with ourselves, understand ourselves, accept ourselves with all our strengths and weaknesses, and love ourselves.

One of the conversations that caught my attention yesterday was something that I’ve heard Mohanji speak about before, but yesterday, there seemed to be a different intensity. There was also a shift in his general state yesterday; it was much more intense after all the rituals. It was a simple question that caught my attention and stopped me from doing my work: “What are you doing for Earth?” The way he said it was profound. He continued it in the Satsang, and I thought it was an interesting perspective that I wanted to share.
