From Struggle to Peace: My Father’s Story with Mohanji

Rajiv Solanki, India

I was reading Guru Leela Part 1 and came across Mohanji’s message on the importance of testimonials. So I decided to write this as a small service.I like Mohanji as meeting such a genuine, humble, down-to-earth person with a clear mindset is hard to find these days.

In general, I don’t trust so-called spiritual leaders because people give everything to them, but once their fakeness surfaces, the person’s trust is shattered, not sure for how many years. The same problem is with my father, who doesn’t believe in people, due to which he remains sad and insecure. With his sheer will and hard work, he took care of my mother, my sister and me.

Now over 69 years old, he remains sad, worn down by years of continuous struggle. Relying solely on willpower and hard work has taken a significant toll on his health. I don’t know how, but I knew that if one is with a true saint, a lot of garbage gets cleared. But finding such saints is hard, and taking my father to them or bringing them to my father seemed harder.

Then my sister told me about Mohanji. I read a few posts of his on Instagram and Facebook. I found him to be a genuine person. People called him Guru, God , Supreme Consciousness, Master, Brahmarishi! I read more of his posts, and I felt he was a genuine human being. I decided to take my parents to the yearly Shridi Retreat in Dec 2022 because I didn’t know how much time they had in their present body, and I wanted them to meet someone they could possibly trust.

My Father recognised Mohanji…I didn’t give my father a prior introduction to Mohanji, nor did I share any of his posts or works. My father didn’t understand English enough to understand Mohanji’s teachings. But my father recognised Mohanji – recognising here means a deeper meaning because my father never met Mohanji prior to this meeting.

For the first time in my life, I felt my father was truly happy. My father smiled and laughed openly. My father appeared relaxed, relieved, peaceful, and enthusiastic in Mohanji’s presence without any inhibitions. My father, during his early childhood, had attended many satsangs and participated in many kirtans, but as he grew older, such groups vanished from his life. I think my father got it back with Mohanji.

Post the retreat, my father has met Mohanji in multiple events, and he feels relieved. In life, he still feels a bit sad about his struggles, but all that vanishes when he meets Mohanji. Each time, it is the same feeling: he’s happy from the heart (no filters), smiling, laughing (no filters), relaxed, relieved, peaceful, enthusiastic (no filters). I don’t talk about Mohanji with my father. But I just watch that relationship, those live experiences, those moments of fulfilment between Mohanji and my father, and those meetings are always fulfilling.

My father doesn’t listen to Mohanji’s teachings because they are primarily in English, but he recognises Mohanji as a true Master and values their relationship. And to add, both my father and mother “recognised” Devi Mohan as well when they met her at the Women’s Days event in Delhi.

The Testimonial is about “recognising” Mohanji and Devi Mohan by my parents in their hearts from a space of not knowing anything about them. That’s recognition of a true Master. That’s geniuneness because my father, throughout his life, has quoted, “Pure butter’s fragrance is enough to recognise its purity, words and marketing can be crooked.”

Respect, love and immense gratitude to Mohanji and Devi Mohan!
