Lessons living with Mohanji – Days 165 & 166

By Christopher Greenwood

Day 165 – Borrowed fear and anxieties

In Slovenia, we’re taking steps to bring our space here to life. We held the first-ever satsang on our land, which was a really momentous occasion. This has given even more momentum to what we’ve started here. We’re more committed to finding a way of investigating all possible options to get something established within this year so that regular programs can take place. It’s exciting.

I was reading back through the notes of the satsang. It was a very special satsang, as we sat out in nature. Mohanji was even sitting on a nearby log. There was no need for a grand setting; the stage of nature was beautiful enough. During the satsang, Mohanji shared a really good perspective about these times, which relates to a lesson I shared some time back, which was about keeping our inner space clean. Throughout the day, we interact with many different types of people and many different media, on the internet, on social media, and the news. We also have people with their opinions and perspectives. It’s very easy for us to take these in, then they sit inside of us, and as we know, we can only experience what we are in the world. We then project these out into the world, which can be anger, fear, jealousies, as it’s all coming from within. He shared that now we’re receiving many borrowed frustrations, from the internet, television, and the news.

These are borrowed fears and anxiety. Most of the time, it has nothing to do with this, but the addiction to social media, looking for information, makes it much worse. For example, every day, there are facts and figures about the number of people who have died from COVID in the world, the increasing number of deaths, and the new strains, and they’re always focused on those numbers. Mohanji shared that he received a message, which had the number of people who had died on one side of the message, but then also the number of people who had actually gone home or recovered on the other side. The number of recoveries is always much higher, but that’s never shown to us. It’s never shown in the media. We could be focusing on that, on how many people have recovered today, and celebrating that, but that’s not what the focus is. What happens in those instances? Mohanji asked the question that if we’re being told that this is what’s happening all the time, the natural thing to think is, “When will we also die?” It creates that fear.

The message he gave from that talk is that we can always look for the positives in life, what we have to be thankful for, and do the best we can to keep that inner space free from acquired fears and anxieties, those which aren’t our own. Awareness helps you, along with the company of good and positive people.

Day 166 – Purity of connection

Yesterday was another day of moving forward some of the tasks here for the Slovenia land, and for the Slovenian registration of the Mohanji Foundation, although it will be called something different, to align with the types of organizations here in Slovenia. In the evening, I spent some time with Mohanji, talking about the activities of the day and the next steps. On the land where we are, there is a really beautiful old house with a heritage. The architect came yesterday and she was explaining that not many of those houses exist anymore. It’s actually a very rich piece of Slovenian heritage, and how it was built and how it looks in the style.

We were saying that this could potentially become a temple for Sai Baba. We began to talk about the location because at the top of the hill is a very powerful energy center. I was also sharing with others about the time when Mohanji went to Skanda Vale in Wales, which has a really lovely temple where he inaugurated the Dattatreya temple. He did the prana pratishta personally, wherein he took a part of himself and installed it into the idol. Now many people are feeling the effects of worshipping Dattatreya. When people visit the temple, many things are being removed from them.

Somebody asked Mohanji if he had lost anything in doing that. He said, “No”, and that for him, it’s like lighting another lamp from one lamp. The original lamp still remains, it’s just taking the light and giving it somewhere else. The next question was interesting for me, because it was a good question. It was essentially: Would people feel the same energy there as if they come and are close to him physically? What Mohanji shared was interesting, and again, really gives an idea that physical proximity isn’t always a sign of connection. He said that physically, people probably won’t feel anything. He said, “You have to transcend the physical and the personality aspect, which isn’t easy.”

Even for people who do a lot of meditation, it may not be possible to recognise him. He shared that great saints, who had done a lot of penance and practices, couldn’t recognise Sai Baba, while somebody who was illiterate… they recognised him. He mentioned Megha, who had an intense connection to Sai Baba. He was an illiterate man. He couldn’t read or write but he recognised Sai Baba, and when Megha died, it was the only time that Sai Baba had tears in his eyes because he loved him so much, because of the purity of his connection. People asked, “Baba, why are you crying? You never cry.” To which he replied, “It’s because he’s a part of me”. He had said before, “All of you are sitting here in front of me and Megha doesn’t come to me, but he’s with me.”

Mohanji shared that, in order to have that connection, you have to have extraordinary determination and conviction. When that connection happens, you become that. So, Megha didn’t die a normal death, he became Baba.  I really liked this story, because it’s a reminder for me, that connection is more than proximity, more than the form, more than the personality. The true connection, the lasting kind, is beyond what the mind can perceive, the senses or the form. It’s the consciousness or the state. I can only imagine the purity of connection, which could bring tears to the eyes of a great master such as Sai Baba.

Lessons living with Mohanji – Days 123 & 124

by Christopher Greenwood

Day 123 Lesson – Living for the world

Good morning everybody. I hope that you’re doing well.

The time I’ve spent with Mohanji has opened my eyes to many new observations about the world that I never had before. Some of these have included understanding the depths and levels of greed, selfishness, and manipulation in the world in various dimensions. The more I’ve become aware of these and the negative traits that exist, the more it’s given me a greater appreciation for those living selflessly, doing good in the world, who are pushing through their activities to leave it a better place for those who come.

I especially feel privileged to be part of this family, of all the platforms where everybody is putting in their time, effort, resources, and skills towards this end – to uplift humanity and change lives for the better. Personally, I’ve begun to experience the freedom and the feelings which come from doing acts, giving time, serving, and expecting nothing in return – a real sense of freedom that’s growing and evolving.

I’m exploring this, which is very different from my earlier mindset because I was very sceptical about people who said they were doing a lot for the world, as then I didn’t believe that there could be an actual selfless act. I thought that every action would have some aspect of self-interest, whether it was promotion or prestige or to look good in front of somebody else. But now, coming with this group, with this family, I can see that actually, that’s not the case, as many people are just living selflessly.

I have learnt to tell if someone is genuine. Many people say that they’re doing activities. Mohanji says he’s doing activities as well, that he belongs to the world, that he lives for the world. So how can you really tell if someone is genuine?

For me, a clear display is when people act and live what they speak. Having lived with Mohanji, he lives what he says without compromise. I observe this daily, and it’s demonstrated through all the platforms he has founded. But I was surprised to understand he has mandated a law in Switzerland which states that when he leaves the body, all his wealth and assets will go to those who love him and stand by him. So that right until old age, everybody’s taken care of, everybody will be looked after, everybody who’s been with him will be part of that family. He has made it so that the law cannot be changed. He changed the definition of what family means!! It also means whatever comes to him will be left back for the world. So, he is living for the world.

It’s a clear sign that he means what he says. This is registered in Switzerland, and all the foundation activities are audited by the federal government. For example, there are also people who earn a lot of money, say 1 million, and then they can give 10,000. They share that they’re giving 10,000 but don’t tell anyone they’re earning a million. But here, with this law, the aim that I can see is that whatever is acquired will be accessible back to the world. I was impressed when I heard this because, as an organization, it’s another level of transparency that demonstrates that what we speak and what we do are the same; there’s no distortion.

I hope you have a great day ahead, and I’ll share another message with you again very soon.

Day 124 Lesson – Believe in yourself

Good morning everybody. I hope that you’re doing very well.

As I’ve spent time with Mohanji, there’s been plenty of opportunities to hear and understand more about his life before he was known as Mohanji. When I reflect on these stories, I realize that these are powerful lessons. Because for me, more than verbal teaching, Mohanji simply lives life fearlessly, which becomes the lesson – his life becomes a lesson. All the challenges, adversities, and how he handles everything can be taken as a lesson.

If I was to boil it all down to a very crystalline essence, or what I take personally from Mohanji’s life, the lesson is to believe in yourself. Beyond all the meditations, kriyas, and practices, this is where I take a big lesson from and contemplate the question, “Do you believe in yourself”. It’s a huge question from my point of view, and I can only speak for that because Mohanji believed in himself. We have what we see now as Mohanji, the Mohanji Foundation, and all the platforms.

Nine years ago, he decided to change everything in his life. He was the country head of a shipping company for five countries, very successful, making good money, and had great contacts. He had built a successful career spanning 22 years, and he had a family to support. Then, he decided to change his field completely. He decided that he was going to serve the world. Whilst he was alive, he would use his life well. Who would do this?

Twenty-two years of career, successful experience, contacts, and networks; all were completely left behind. Everything which he had earned during his career was put into three companies. Twenty-two years’ worth of activity was invested into three companies, which were then taken away from him. He had nothing, just himself, but he believed in himself.

There’s also a story of when he set up Ammucare (in the name of his late daughter Ammu) to serve the world. Many people asked, “What is your investment? How much money are you going to put into this organization?” Mohanji simply said, “The investment is myself”. They laughed and said it wouldn’t last a year, yet eighteen years later, Ammucare is serving hundreds and thousands of people and animals every year, and it’s growing. So this is a real inspiration and lesson.

I’ve used it a lot during my time here because I’ve been confronted with many situations I hadn’t experienced or I couldn’t do before. I’ve been pushed well beyond my previous capacities, and each time Mohanji reminded me, “Just believe in yourself. And also, if you can’t believe in yourself, then you can believe in me.”

This is important because I’ve experienced that it’s visible when I have some doubts about myself, or I’m not so confident, or I do not believe in myself. Because in my mind, I’m neither here nor there. Especially if that’s about a decision or an idea, the activity also becomes weak. There’s no real consistency.

But when belief comes, “I can do this, I know what I’m doing. This is why I’m doing it, I have this reason. And I’m happy I’m doing this.”, then it brings strength to it. That, in turn, brings efficiency and clarity. So that is developing – that belief and being clear, “This is what I want to do.”

I hope you have a good day. We will speak soon.

Lessons Living with Mohanji – Days 95 & 96

days-95-&-96

Christopher Greenwood

Day 95 Lesson – Set in place what you need to today

Good morning everybody. I hope you’re doing well.

Yesterday was the beginning of the annual Global Summit. (Date was the 14th of February 2021, if this is being listened to later) All the heads of Mohanji platforms, all the individual teams within the Mohanji Foundation – such as the Kriya team, the Sadhana team, and all individual country teams come together in this unifying event. All shared the activities that were completed last year and set the focus, the goals, the orientation, and the objectives for the coming year.

Madhusudan, the CEO of Mohanji Foundation, introduced the day, kicked off the summit (which will last for a few days), set the format, and gave a great overview of the plans for the year. He spoke about our spaces, the Centers of Benevolence (which are coming up), the land in Ganeshpuri – what is happening there, plans, and the intentions of all the elements to be put in place. I’ve shared some of those before., but these will be messages to the world of living in harmony with nature, a safe space where people can come and take part in their practices.

The land in Ganeshpuri is by the river, so there will be bathing Ghats going down to the river. There’ll be a Shiva Linga probably installed for people to worship. There’ll also be a forest with all the animals, beings and the 27 trees associated with 27 stars that are aligned to everybody. (Everybody is connected to a particular tree, animal and bird). When you offer to that tree, it helps your life as well as your lineage.

So, aspects like that will be included in these spaces, locations for practices – such as caves for meditations, halls for yoga, satsangs, and meditations, and a place where food will be served 24/7. It is quite exciting to listen to the progress being made there.

Mohanji reiterated that we can always be looking to do more; what more can we do today to reach the hearts of more people. He reminded us that we have this one life; let’s use our time well, be effective, and live a fulfilling life. This is the theme I wanted to speak about today because Mohanji also had a conversation on the same subject this morning with a close friend (who’s in business and has many plans for the future and various business opportunities coming up).

Mohanji always supports and encourages people, especially if they’re making a living, supporting themselves, and giving stability to others. Mohanji asked him an interesting question; he asked, “This is all good, but how much time do you have on Earth?”

I think that’s quite an impactful question. Whilst, I’ve learned from Mohanji that we should make the most of our time each day, today, there was a new dimension of how Mohanji sees his life. He is always waking up with the question, “What more he can I do?” As we spoke more, he said that he’s very realistic about life – about the reality of life. For example, say he lives maybe up until 80 years, from where he is now that’s probably only 7000 days left. So for him in that respect, each day matters, and each hour probably matters as well.

Mohanji also adds that what’s possible today might not be possible tomorrow. We can’t guarantee that the environment will be the same; we can’t guarantee that the health will be the same. For Mohanji, it’s a hardcore reality that today is the day. Whatever needs to be set and put in place should happen when it can be. Delays can happen; there are things that you can’t control. But putting steps, completing what needs to be done, and setting what needs to be done today, is something which he was reiterating. There’s no time to waste!

What arose for me from that message was not just doing the activity, because he also asked the question, “Are you satisfied? Is there contentment in the activity?” I think that’s important learning, which I’m finding too. More than just doing an activity and taking steps to move things forward, am I also putting what needs to be done in place today? Ask (ourselves) if there is satisfaction, contentment and fulfilment in every activity.

I’m learning that as important as the activity is, it is also the attitude that matters. It is important to set an attitude in place each day because if there’s criticizing, complaining, judging, being angry, frustrations, it’s probably not worth it. With every day being important, there’s no time to waste. There’s also no reason for activity and life not to be fulfilling. It was another depth to his message to use time well, not to waste any time and to be extraordinarily realistic, that today is the only moment that we have, so to set in place whatever we need to today.

Yesterday was another example of how quickly Mohanji works and how swiftly he puts things in place. We had a request for a call with Mohanji from some doctors, introduced by a friend, and they wanted to contribute towards some of the activities. So late last evening, after the event was over, I arranged the call. They had a good talk. It was in Malayalam, so I couldn’t understand much. After it finished, Mohanji just asked me to put them in touch with one of the ladies, Savithri, running the animal care activities in Shirdi.

I shared the number and connection, and they had a phone call/conversation within minutes. It all happened in the space of 20 minutes. What transpired in that 20 minutes is that – they had been looking for a doctor or a series of doctors for a long time in Shirdi (they desperately needed them). It so happened that these were the exact type of doctors they needed; thus, they came together and made an agreement within 20 minutes. It was organized in such a way that what they had been looking for, for some time, came about. Mohanji put it in motion and set it in place.

I hope you have a great day ahead and will speak to you all soon.

Day 96 Lesson – Being there for people

Good morning everybody. I hope you’re doing well.

This year’s theme for 2021 is flexibility, stability, and friendship. I thought today it would be good to share a conversation I had with Mohanji yesterday morning. For me, it summed up very nicely, a lesson that I’ve learned since being with Mohanji, which is we can always be there for people, and we can always stand by people. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that we have to take on everything they’re going through, their situations, problems, or troubles. We can keep a nice healthy boundary so that we’re still there for them, but we don’t take on all their trash too.

I found that this in the past, and even now, is important for my stability because I’d become very involved in someone else’s troubles trying to help, especially if we want to look out for people and help them. I thought this was a good message to share and something that can bring stability and help build great friendships.

These aren’t the exact words, but this was the general message. Mohanji said that sometimes in life, we really won’t know the value of something until it’s gone, and once it’s lost, we regret it. Like everything in our lives, there’s a formation stage, an appearance stage, and then a dissolution stage. For every event in life, there’s a history, a cause, which can be internal or external.

Internal comes from what we’ve collected over lifetimes, and through this life, maybe like prejudices, bad memories, hatreds. External can be something like, if we didn’t like the first impression of someone, then we take that, and it can cause us to take on something and a situation to occur later.

When we think that every situation has its cause and it’s probably personal to the person as well, whether internal or external, we can recognize then that every situation and everybody is unique. So, it’s quite impossible to know the true cause of a situation somebody is going through.

I shared this message with the help desk and the engagement team, who deal with people daily. It’s important that when we speak with people and counsel them, the utmost that we could probably do is to strengthen them. For those suffering, we can strengthen that side, and that’s probably only a real possibility sometimes.

When somebody says there’s a problem or a situation, what can we really do? We’ll never know the full reality of how that occurred, or we don’t know the cause. Hence, the most practical thing is probably to stand in solidarity with that person. What’s good about that is we don’t have to accept their version of a situation or problem or trouble. That’s theirs to take. We don’t have the whole picture, but what we can say is, “Okay, this has happened. And I’m here, and we can walk together now.” Thus, we don’t have to let people put all the burden onto us, but we can stand, strengthen and stabilize.

Mohanji also said at the end of the conversation that the easiest way to solve a problem, especially relationship problems, is by loving and letting go of the past, accepting weaknesses, forgiving and forgetting. Nobody is perfect, and we can’t truly love another unless we accept all imperfections.

That was a nice message which he gave yesterday morning. I hope you have a great day ahead, and I shall speak to you soon.

Lessons Living with Mohanji – Days 31 & 32

by Christopher Greenwood

Day 31 Lesson – More than the eyes can see

Good morning, everybody! I hope you’re doing very well.

Yesterday, I shared a lesson from the badminton court, along with a couple of photographs, and I hope you enjoyed those. I was thinking how much fun it’s been to play against Mohanji. At first, it was fairly intimidating. But now, we’ve got a good doubles rhythm when we play, and it’s good exercise. It breaks the day, and it’s also really fun.

As I recalled those times, it brought back a memory, which was another reminder that there’s more to Mohanji than we can physically see. I’ve spoken about this before, that He’s active in many more ways than we can perceive. Personally, being here spending a lot of time is an incredibly good reminder because otherwise, the situation can become familiar. I wouldn’t want to say that I take anything for granted, definitely not. But day in, day out, when I’m seeing Mohanji, there can definitely be the lack of alertness that was there when I first arrived as everything was new. Because now there’s work to do; there’s a routine; there’s a pattern; there’s a method, and so some habits and patterns have developed.

It reminded me of the badminton game because there was a similar situation to the one that I’d shared before in one of my previous recordings. This was where I spoke about the situation where I was speaking with Mohanji; we were having a conversation in the morning, and he suddenly stopped mid-conversation. We’ve been speaking about plans for the early version of Invest in Awareness corporate program. And he stopped; he stood up, walked a few paces, and knelt. Then He took several press-ups, then again stood, and went back to his chair and calmly sat back down. When I asked him what happened, he said that he was responding to somebody’s call for help. He was bringing someone back to life. At the time, I was very confused, but I thought, okay, sometimes these things I can’t understand. But later that day, the event was actually confirmed when somebody called to say that their father had survived in hospital.

Once on the badminton court, there was another situation while we were playing badminton. It was a typical game; Rajesh and I were trying our hardest to win the game. Mohanji had his position on the court; his technique of smashing was doing really well, and Ananth was playing well too. It was an intense game backwards and forwards; everybody played with full commitment and played many games. But during one of the games, I think it must have been the last one; Mohanji just casually said that somebody’s mother is leaving between one of the rallies. As simple as that, “someone’s mother is leaving.” He said that someone’s mother was leaving their body that she was dying. It was very matter of fact, and he just went back to playing; we continued to play for the remainder of the game.

Afterwards, I had to ask what he meant because I don’t even think he meant to say it out loud but he said that he was communicating with her. That amazed me; we were playing our hardest to gain points and win the game, and I thought I was putting in some great effort while at the same time Mohanji was playing, but he was also elsewhere.

When we got back to the house a few hours later, the message came that someone’s mother had passed away. So for me, it’s still somewhat a mystery that what Mohanji is handling beyond is what I can see. There’s more beyond the usual events, but I enjoy and appreciate that there’s almost a completion to it because it comes with a confirmation. For me personally, I can have and witness that full experience. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, there’s always a confirmation that clarifies that I don’t have to blindly believe this because there’s something there that confirms what I see in front of my eyes.

Thank you for listening today. And I hope you have a great day ahead.

Day 32 Lesson – Mohanji’s activities tangibly express his teachings

Good morning, everybody! I hope you’re doing really well!

Since spending time with Mohanji, I have witnessed that Mohanji does not just talk about his teachings. He lives them. Tangibly!! It’s only through my extra time working closely across each platform, namely – Mohanji Foundation, Ammcuare, Early Birds Club or the Mohanji Home for Seniors, and through conversations, I can see more clearly, that everything he has delivered is a message to the world of what he stands for.

This morning, I was speaking to Mohanji, and he elaborated on some of the ideas and vision for the Centers of Benevolence. When I speak with Mohanji in the morning, I usually have a list of the items I’d like to discuss with him about what’s pending. But depending on the day or the need of the time, Mohanji will often speak spontaneously as thoughts come to him. He said to me earlier that he just flows, so as per the need, what is important, he’ll speak.

So if I’m sitting in front of him, I should make sure then that it reaches the right person. We were talking about the various locations across the world for the Centers of Benevolence and the vision that they should reach every continent; every country; every city, so that there’s a space; our own space. These would be living signatures for the Teachings of the Tradition, welcoming all people; everybody is welcome. Ensuring everyone who comes is fed well with vegan food and the fact that it’s purely vegan will be the message of non-violence and that all life has the right to live.

When there’s outdoor space, all animals will coexist in the ground, and they’ll roam free. Then all the five elements are captured in the space too. They’ll have the fire with the Homas, also the water bodies – the rivers and lakes, and earth space. All the practices will be there: the meditations and the teachings of the path of liberation – all will be available. It will be a message to the world portraying what we stand for and how we can use our capacities or intellect abilities as humans for selfless work and for attaining the highest.

The more time that I’ve spent with Mohanji, I realize that what he speaks, what he shares, and his teachings, he’s practically and tangibly putting these into place through all the platforms. All of them speak a message to the world.

I was thinking about this and all the initiatives that have been founded when the Mohanji Home for Seniors came to my mind – which has been set up to feed, give medical attention and help the elderly. This came to my mind because when I sent out the feedback form to everybody for these talks, someone replied by asking the question, “Why are parents so important in our life?”

I feel that that’s a great example, the Home for Seniors because it’s Mohanji practically tangibly representing why it’s important to look after the elderly, look after our parents. The story of how this came about was when Mohanji visited Tiruvannamalai with a group of people for conducting a Retreat and Satsang. It’s a famous place of pilgrimage, because of the Arunachala Mountain, and many people go there.

I’ve heard that people go there along with the elderly parents, and they simply leave them, which is quite sad.

Some of the abandoned ones have poor health conditions, problems and are lonely, confused, and even wait for their children to come back. They think they’ll come back for them, but the children don’t.

There’s a Home that is looking after the abandoned parents, and Mohanji with the group visited the Home to serve them food. Last year, the local municipality gave the people living in the Home (building) eviction notice, rendering them homeless. That was the seed. I think one person, in particular, wanted to start something; Mohanji supported it, and now we have the Mohanji Home for Seniors. Thus the land was bought, and construction is now on the way.

Mohanji has spoken before that we have a dharmic duty to our parents because it’s they who brought us into this world. He said that when we first take birth, before a soul comes into the body, there’s prana which represents our lineage or lineage karma. He explained that when we have a body, actually, the body is a property of the lineage. Our parents are a living representation of our lineage. Our parents represent that, so we have a duty towards them. Especially, a mother who carried us through nine months of pregnancy knows us longer than anybody else. Thus I learnt from Mohanji that this is another reason why we must respect and look after our parents. There’s a Dharmic duty behind it. And this is exactly what he does as well. He’s brought his parents closer to him now in their age so that they have this space; they are given respect. Everything that can be done is done to make them comfortable.

In modern times, some people treat parents as an inconvenience, quick to discard them or put them into a home. Hence, I am reiterating what I’ve learned from Mohanji that there’s a duty there actually about what we need to do. The Mohanji Home for Seniors is a standing example of this filial duty – by looking after them, respecting, caring, and giving them the dignity that they deserve.

I’ve also heard people ask, “What can I do?” Now I know that I have a dynamic duty, “What can I do if I don’t get on with my parents; if we fight or we argue?” For this, Mohanji said, “You can do what you can. The first is discussion, to see if anything can be resolved. Maybe that’s not possible; maybe you don’t have to live together; maybe it’s possible that you can support them if they’re in a different home. You can find a way to give them assistance with the chores. If the relationship is completely gone, and it’s not possible to get on with them, you can fulfill that duty by serving people of a similar demographic in society. You serve the elderly; the abandoned, participate in charity activities, events; donate to causes that support them. This way, we still do our duty.”

So this is one example of the many tangible activities Mohanji is doing in the world expressing his message and his teachings.

I hope you enjoyed it and we will speak very soon.

Many Masters or this one?

By Preethi Gopalarathnam, India

This is an important message! I heard the podcast Real vs Unreal by Mohanji and I felt I had to share my experiences and learnings. If you have not heard this, please listen to it. The link is attached at the end of the blog.

I have known Mohanji for the last seven years and have been associated with Mohanji Foundation in various capacities. During this time I have met some very interesting people. Some people have come here, bloomed and are shining bright, polishing themselves and adding value to the world to the best of their capacity.

Some have come and done some great work and have gotten distracted because of personal, mental, and financial issues and have slowly dimmed out. Some have joined the organisation because their friend or family have joined and are connected. These people come on someone else’s belief. They believe everything and everyone and lack their personal anchor to the truth. So many times, I have seen them become disillusioned and leave either unhappy or not satisfied.

There are some, however, who join this organisation and then join multiple such organisations too. They believe in many Masters, and they usually say, “All Masters are one”, so I will learn from everywhere. It’s like taking multiple tuitions for one subject to crack the exam! You attend class after class but no time to assimilate and learn because we are busy with classes.

I have been fortunate to meet and observe all these flavours of people, and these are my observations only. I felt a strong urge to pen them down, and please read through it and take it only if it makes sense to you.

Yes, it is true that all Masters operate from one Consciousness, but the first question to ask ourselves is, are we in that oneness state to realise that? Unless we are there, it is someone else’s truth we believe in. It’s not our experience. If we go back to all the books and life history of great Masters like Yogananda and Vivekananda, we see that they respect all Masters, but they are firmly rooted in one Master and one Guru. Why?

Don’t they know that all Masters are the same? My understanding through my experience is as follows.

At some time in life, we ask for spiritual progress, we pray for guidance, and this prayer is a deep, earnest call from our soul. I can take my example. I connected to Mahavatar Babaji first. I prayed to Babaji, asking him for a true Guru whom I could relate and connect to. Then I was led to Mohanji. Now, how do you know that the Master in front of you is the right one?

Simple, your knowing comes from how sincerely you prayed for guidance and help! This is how I found my Guru. I did my own thorough analysis before I took Mohanji for my Guru, though. It was not instant realisation though there was an instant connection.

I saw for myself the state of purity that he was operating from. I observed his interactions and knew he was genuine. He practised what he preached. He was humble. He respected all Masters, but at the same time, he was a storehouse of power. I started seeing miracles in everyone else’s life and mine too. It was only then I took Mohanji as my Guru. It was logical, and it happened naturally. After taking him as my Guru, I had this confusion. What to do with Babaji now that I found Mohanji?

I see many people who are connected to Babaji, Sai Baba, Ramana Maharishi and many other great and powerful Masters. They find Mohanji, and then I watch them divided. Do they follow Mohanji or the Master who got them to Mohanji, who is powerful and not in their physical form. If the Master is in the body, you can directly go and ask him, so no confusion! I have been there in that space and suffered this confusion, so I felt I should share my experience. Mostly they pray to both and follow both, and that is what I mean by they are divided.

Initially, after I met and connected with Mohanji, I used to get these messages of people channelling Babaji etc., and I have initially gone there too, thinking the source is the same. Everyone is nice and loving, and you feel great energetically. But then we can’t follow everyone and every teaching, right? If we get two contradictory practices, what to do?

I would like to share my experience here. On one occasion at a friend’s place, I had the experience where Lahari Mahasaya and Sai Baba both appeared in the picture of Mohanji that I was holding. I was telling her that I feel sad about why Babaji had to send me to another Master and why he couldn’t come directly and speak to me as he does to all the other people we read in books. It was at this moment that I looked down at the picture I was holding of Mohanji.

It was unmistakable; both these Masters appeared in Mohanji’s eyeballs, each on both eyes. It was unmistakable! I was trembling and shaking, in tears because from inside came a realisation, showing me that all Masters exist, embody and speak through this one Master now. While my question to her was naive, it had purity, so the Guru answered it for me.

We need to remember something; we asked sincerely for guidance from a Master who has left their body or God. If we were in the state where they could communicate with subtlety and directly with us, they would have done it, right?

The fact that they sent you to another living Master proves the authenticity of the Master and your need for this particular Master and their sign of approval for you to move forward with him or her.

It doesn’t mean we are leaving our God or older Master; it means they will start speaking through this living Master, so we understand. Then, in this case, I personally feel the search has to end there. It is this Master in front of you who they will speak through if they want to from now on. Isn’t that why they sent you here in the first place! If you are still in doubt (the mind I tell you!), surrender this to your original Master and say, I did this as your guidance now you take care. Mohanji has said several times the story of a man who took a buffalo to be his Master, and he attained the highest. The sincerity and faith of you, the seeker, is all that matters here.

This experience at a friend’s house was a surreal experience for me, and I know it was true because it transformed me completely. My search for Gurus and people connected and channelling Masters stopped there. It happened naturally and automatically.

I would also like to share another observation. My deepest transformations started happening with Mohanji after this. It has been a rapid journey after that. It took me a while to understand that the connection became pure, and all distractions and loopholes for doubts were eliminated so that the Master could deliver. I could be receptive only after that incident. I still have a long way to go, but that’s surrendered at his feet now. It’s his job; mine is to hang in there however difficult the ride turns out to be!

Lessons living with Mohanji – Day 11

Chris lesson 11

Day 11 Lesson – Next to the fire

by Christopher Greenwood

I wanted to share some of my personal experiences living with Mohanji, or more appropriately, living next to the fire! I have to admit that it is not easy at times, and that is because patterns and comfort zones are being continuously broken. It is uncomfortable, and the pace and variety of activity mean plenty of situations where these surface.

Mohanji isn’t concerned with emotions or feelings either, which means whilst he is here to guide, it’s my journey to work through. His interest is in transformation, and when you get closer to the fire, you either transform or get burnt. Transformation is your evolution, and being burnt is the comfort zones pulling you back. There is no middle ground.

There hasn’t been much time for me to reflect on my experiences while they were happening, but I hope that this message gives insight and feelings of what it’s like being next to the fire – Mohanji.

I feel this is the same for all people working closely with Mohanji and within the Foundation. We are day by day, given the opportunity to break our patterns and free ourselves from the binding of our comfort zones.

Over the past few days, I’ve shared some general lessons that I’ve learned from Mohanji – some stories and some more information about the Foundation and the platform’s activities. And today, I wanted to talk about a personal experience – living with Mohanji. It’s been probably eight months now. And it’s related to something which Mohanji said the other day, I heard him share it, and I’d heard it before. But it prompted my mind to think about sharing this – and it’s that living with a Master is incredibly difficult.

When you’re looking at Mohanji from afar or a Master from afar, it is fine because there’s a safe distance. But as soon as you come close, that’s when the heat really starts to happen. That’s when it really starts to turn on. And so what happens in that situation as people get closer and closer and closer to the fire? There are only two options. One is to use that for transformation, which means you have to break through patterns to break through comfort zones. Or the second one is that you get burned, which generally means running away. There’s no middle ground, especially within this path. And as he says as well – this is the path of no-nonsense. And he’s purely interested in transformation: an individual’s transformation, their spiritual growth, their evolution, however, you’d like to call it. So how they feel, how they are that day, their emotions, all these types of things are of no interest really. And I understood this quite early on when I was finding it quite hard. I now understand (from reading the books actually, I read this, and now I’ve experienced it firsthand) that the Guru or the Master knows what you need to move through whatever patterns that you have. So we are a walking, talking bundle of patterns, inclinations – everything which we carry. We’re basically an expression of our karmic baggage, or ‘garbage’, as he said the other day. We’re just walking and talking all the time.

So they (the Masters) can see this, and they know what activity is good for you, to move you through it. Basically, to move from a state of tamas, inertia, laziness, procrastination, where these habits are binding and ruling and controlling in the comfort zones being served all the time, day in, day out. It requires selfless activity, karma yoga activity so that the weight is reduced.

So he (Mohanji) described it this way: at the moment when you first arrived, it was as if you were on a bed and you had a big magnet on your back – you couldn’t even get up, you couldn’t even lift yourself up. So through the work that he has provided, he can at least sit up from the bed, which is a big, big effort. And so what that means is constant activity, new activity, changing activity. You start one task and then are quite quickly diverted to another. There’s another session, someone else to speak to, another meeting to arrange, another task to complete, another board to join, constantly, constantly, constantly. And there’s really no way that it’s possible to completely keep up. And that activity drives momentum.

So quite quickly, I reached a point where I just couldn’t cope. I was becoming, ‘this is too much.’ I would be eating a lot, probably emotionally eating, which made me more tired, lazier. And one morning, we sat down, we spoke, and it was quiet. He was attending to messages. And quite out of the blue, when I thought we’re going to talk about something else, he said, “You know what is amazing – you’re here, in my presence, you’ve got activities, and you’re becoming even more tamasic. Absolutely amazing!” I was completely shocked. And the conversation followed, “If you’d like to go back to the UK, you’re more than welcome. Remember that you’re not bound here. I want you to remain free. And if it ever gets too much, I’d much rather you just say, admit it to yourself and leave everything in good order so that nothing is left untidy, because that would be really bad. So yeah, you’re free to go. But remember where you’re going back to – you’re going back to your patterns, to your comfort zones. And this is the path here of no-nonsense. You have an opportunity to transform, an opportunity to evolve. But that doesn’t mean it’s mandatory. There’s always free will. So you’ll be welcome to leave as well. So, being next to the fire, either transform – or get burned and leave.”

“Never justify Inertia. It is a self-destructive tendency. You are defeating yourself by defending your laziness.”

Mohanji

And this was the general message, and it made quite an impact on me. From that, I realized that work hadn’t been loaded on top of me to make me crumble. And he said that too, “My job isn’t to make you crumble at all. My job is to take you to the highest potential that you can be, it’s to take you to yourself, essentially.” And he’s been giving guidance and clarity on how to achieve that, too. So he doesn’t just give the activity or the task; he shares how it’s to be done. But generally, that will mean moving from where I am now, through a comfort zone, through a barrier, through something that I wasn’t even aware of that’s come up, some feeling, some emotions. So I can progress into that.

And so, some things that I was personally faced with are public speaking, making videos. All these were gruelling; it felt really awful to have to pull myself out of my general habit or ego, the resistance that was stopping me from doing that – through that to actually do it. When I was in Fireflies Ashram here in India, we had yoga teacher training. Sanja would be able to tell you that it would take me ages and ages to record a video, be really worried and really fearful about what people would think.

So in the situations that are presented, I’m having to come out of my comfort zone and address fears. Also, really look at myself. Also, at the same time, because that resistance is there, that pattern is there of not being able to overcome it, then the feelings of worthlessness come in, of uselessness. These patterns I have as well, I’m realizing. So, quite quickly and intensely, I’m presented with situations, tasks, activities where I’m able to see in an intense time period all these patterns that are put in front of me that I have. And knowing then it’s putting faith in Mohanji is the test that I’ve been given, that to just do it, not think, and drop the sense of ownership about the feeling that I will have to do this. That’s something else, which is part of the lessons that come. I think Mohanji also says that man minus ego is equal to God. So then there is a surrender element in it as well.

All of this, day in and day out, is quite an intense, evolving, fast-paced activity. And now, looking back, I can see that. But during the time, it was incredibly uncomfortable.

And just before I came here, actually, I developed a skin condition as well. So I’ve got a rash coming up all over my skin. When I was speaking, I think it was either with Mohanji or with somebody else here; they were saying that’s probably suppressed emotions over many lives.

The intensity of being here is that you face in a short period of time all the things which are inside. And they keep coming. So tasks may trigger a situation, people may trigger a situation. And more recently, I found out that there was quite a lot of anger stored inside as well. So, having to navigate through those emotions and patterns which are long hidden is the reality of being close to Mohanji.

And some people may have felt the intensity when Mohanji has a satsang or when we have a meeting with some of the teams. There’s like a burst of intensity, which generally helps push people through a momentum, like a change. So whilst it’s discomfort, it’s also quite a benefit too because Mohanji matches what he sees in front of him: it’s a mirror. So if he sees that there’s a blockage, if he sees that tamas is creeping in, or inertia in me, his intensity arises. So what might seem like someone is being shouted out or being scolded; actually it’s not. He’s increasing his intensity so that he can remove any blockage. And he does this with a lot of the teams and meetings that I sit on as well.

I can talk more about this later. Though it’s more of a personal experience today, which I’m speaking about, yet it’s still not completely settled. And I don’t think it will be for many months and even years to come. Because it’s still a period of transition, and day in day out, there are very subtle situations that occur, almost like a reflection back of what’s inside. And so I’m slowly becoming more and more aware of those as well.

So, that’s a little information on what it’s like sitting next to the fire, that is Mohanji.

A shelter in Arunachala

By Pravin Thakkar, UK

I would like to share this story of gratitude to Mohanji. This is very special for me too, as this event was possible only with Mohanji’s grace, and his help is for the karmic benefit of me and my family.

Let me tell you the story.

In 2018 August, Mohanji visited us in London. At that time, my wife and I had a deep desire to visit the Arunachala temple with Mohanji. We expressed this desire to Mohanji. He guided me to talk to the team who plan Mohanji’s programmes. After some discussion, I found out that there was no visit possible in the near future.

In October 2018, we were attending the pilgrimage to Badrinath with Mohanji. There were heavy rains and flooding in different parts of India. Some of Mohanji’s programmes were cancelled due to this and the team was able to plan a pilgrimage to Arunachala with Mohanji at short notice.

mohanji with dog

We were still in India at that time. When we heard this visit being planned, I realised that it was Mohanji’s divine plan, he was fulfilling our wish to visit Arunachala with him! This was a clear indication that when a wish comes from heart, Guru always fulfils it. We were so grateful to Mohanjifor fulfilling our wish and we were soon in Arunachala with Mohanji.

What happened in Arunachala was something that is beyond just fulfilling a simple desire!

While we were in Arunachala, I noticed a few old sadhus, very sick and looking really like beggars. I wanted to help them but due to certain restrictions, I wasn’t allowed to do so. I was so sad in my heart. I couldn’t sleep the whole night thinking about those sadhus. The next morning, I conveyed my wish to Mohanji about how we could help such old, sick, and helpless sadhus.

Mohanji is so compassionate. He immediately arranged a visit to a small place where we saw someone had created a temporary shelter for about 70 sadhus who were very old, sick, and helpless. Mohanji immediately advised the Ammucare team to start regular health check-up, and food and medicine donations to this shelter. While we were at that place, Mohanji told me that this was a temporary place and due to some issues, this shelter was to be closed soon and the sadhus would be on the road!

Hearing that, my heart cried. I felt an inner calling to do something permanent for these sadhus. I expressed my intention to Mohanji immediately. Once again, Mohanji responded quickly. He advised the Mohanji Foundation CEO to look into this matter to see if some land could be acquired and a shelter built.

I was in a dream, I thought. Within months, everything was falling into place. The land was found, donations were collected. Of course, nothing happens without hurdles. Those hurdles were just tests for us to check our conviction and the depth of our intention.

So in the end, in October 2019, exactly a year later, the land in Arunachala was purchased and inaugurated by Mohanji. It was clearly a divine blessing as without any prior planning, we had two eminent Masters also attending this function!

In all these events, I was only a small instrument. My wish to serve the sadhus must be a desire from past lives, and Mohanji made sure all that was fulfilled! With this, I know that a huge karma of mine and maybe even that of my lineage has been completed!

I am so thankful to my Guru Mohanji to have fulfilled my desires and for helping me to accomplish my karmic agenda in such a compassionate way – from that first visit to Arunachala to the land acquisition for the home for seniors! May this place give peace, love, and shelter to the sadhus of Arunachala.

Thank you Mohanji from the depth of my heart, thank you.
