Gratitude on Guru Purnima

Mohanji and Yashik Singh

I have been blessed to meet great saints and very spiritually inspiring people. I am grateful to each and every one of them. Among all these amazing people I have met, the experience with Mohanji has changed me completely. When I look back at my journey so far, I can pinpoint the time there was a complete 360 degree change in me (yes I said 360 degrees!) It was the day I met Mohanji.
Let me explain why I said a 360 degree change. Normally one would say a 180 degree change, i.e, moving in the opposite direction. But with Mohanji, I had a 360 degree change. And this is because of the essential nature of Mohanji. Mohanji never forces a directional change in your life. He is the epitome of complete freedom. He never imposes on your free will and happiness.
I was headed down a dangerous slope. I had read a little about philosophy and the truths of Shivoham and Ahambrahmasmi. I read about God becoming everything and everything being essentially divine. But Mohanji moved me from just reading about it to actually experiencing it. He moved me from thinking about it to actually feeling it. And this is the 360 degree change I had. Mohanji takes you deeper into the spiritual path that you are already on. He never binds you to himself… indeed a mark of a true Guru.

I can’t even begin to imagine where I would be without Mohanji. It may sound dramatic, but this is me baring my heart. Mohanji “experienced me” rather than “taught me” not to feel guilty about things from the past and not to dwell in the uncertain future. This is something I openly declare that saved me from myself and my mind.
Through his presence in my life, I was saved from becoming a robot spiritualist- the type whose mind is completely closed with concepts that have been nurtured over years and maybe lifetimes of conditioning. Mohanji showed me what it means to be free… free from the guilt of not being enough, free from the guilt of not doing enough, free from the fear of not being spiritual enough, free from the anxiety of not chanting enough and free from the illusion of not meditating enough.

MohanjiSo on this day, I want to express all my love to you Mohanji. I have nothing to give you. Everything I have, has been a gift from you throughout my life. So everything is yours and I’m just the caretaker. So what can I truly give you! Thinking about it now, even this love, even this bhakti, is a gift from you. You gave this to me. You grew this in me. You said “let this one be connected” out of your mercy. So I can’t even claim to give you love because it is already yours and not mine to give.
So this child comes to you empty handed, and I realise I can’t give back anything to you because you are everything. And I just smile, since this also means that I am you and can never be disconnected from you.
