Journey to Girnar with Mohanji

Jayashree Mukund Shinde, USA

Feb 2020

Jai Gurudev Datta. Guru Mohanaya Namaha.

Surrendering at the lotus feet of Lord Datta, who is also known as “Girnar Raja” – the king of the Mountain Girnar, I am beginning my story of “Journey to Girnar with Mohanji”.

More ancient than the Himalayas is Mount Girnar – the mountain that symbolizes “a Guru is always on top of the world”. Lord Dattatreya, the Adi Guru of Dattatreya Tradition, is believed to have meditated at the peak of this mountain for over 12,000 years. Many devotees of Lord Datta climb up Mount Girnar throughout the year to get a glimpse of the benevolent Guru, Dattatreya. It is said that to reach the peak of the mountain and to have the darshan of his (Lord Dattatreya) holy footprints, one should have a lot of determination, dedication, surrender, and utmost faith. One should follow the same path as his Guru, in the same direction, and only then can he reach the destination. Lord Dattatreya is present here protecting all his devotees.

I had travelled to India in Jan 2020 to attend a retreat with Mohanji, spend some time with my parents, and to attend a cousin’s wedding. I was going to be in India for some more time, and while I was there, I tried to spend as much time as I could, being around Mohanji. In late January 2020, the Bhumi Puja of the ‘Home for Seniors’ land was happening in Thiruvannamalai, and I was so fortunate to attend the ceremony and to be able to meet Mohanji there.

A few days after returning from Thiruvannamalai, I heard about a short trip that Mohanji was making to Mount Girnar, to the temple of Lord Datta. I had not heard about this mountain and Lord Datta’s temple before. I had no idea what it takes to go there! But as soon as I heard about it, a calling from my heart came to travel with Mohanji to Mount Girnar. A wet blanket was soon thrown over my excitement when I heard that going to Lord Datta’s temple on top of the mountain means climbing up 9999 steps and down the same too!

I shivered with the reality check. I didn’t think I could do this as I am not very fit physically. I gave up the idea. That’s when I got a message from Rajesh saying “You are coming to Girnar. Jo Dar Gaya Samjho Woh Mar Gaya.” (The one who is scared, is dead). His words were motivating enough, and I felt as if these words were coming from Mohanji! So, I decided to take the journey! On top of that, Rajesh assured me about the possibility of using the doli service, where you can be carried up rather than walk. I decided I would go to Girnar and take a doli.

I reached Junagadh in the afternoon of February 11th. Several people from Mohanji family had already arrived there, and I was taken to the beautiful Gorakhnath Ashram overlooking Mount Girnar. After lunch, Ruchika and I went around feeding cows around the Gorakhnath Ashram Later, after Mohanji arrived, all of us gathered in his room. Mohanji was very happy to see all of us. I noticed that the swelling on Mohanji’s left foot had not reduced (which was there since the Thiruvannamalai event). Seeing all of us worrying about his foot pain, Mohanji very lovingly told us, “You are all Mai-Tri Practitioners. So why don’t you do Mai-Tri to this body? To the body only, not to Mohanji!” It’s beyond our imagination to heal Mohanji’s body, but we realized that to keep our worrying mind at rest, Mohanji was giving us this opportunity. In my heart, I was praying to Datta to relieve this physical pain from Mohanji’s foot.

Mount Girnar

We had a small satsang with Mohanji about Girnar  and the plan to climb in the night so as to reach the top by early morning for aarati at 5:30 am. Rajesh Kamath mentioned that I wanted to take a doli as it was difficult for me to climb. Mohanji immediately said, “Shinde has to climb, she will climb, it’s her sadhana”. This was a command from my Guru, and I bowed down to this and said, “Yes Baba, all your grace, your will”.

As Mohanji reminded us all, “A visit to Girnar is not an ordinary journey. It is a surrender and commitment to the Tradition. Unless you have deep commitment and conviction, you may not be in this land. In fact, there is no better place, more powerful and more relevant than Girnar for a true spiritualist in the path of the Avadhootas (total dissolution). We aren’t talking about enlightenment or even the Path of the Siddhas here – this is much beyond human realms or thinking. Even today, the nine Naths and 84 Siddhas visit Girnar in sookshma form, chant and pray for the darshan of Lord Dattatreya who continues to guide them. Grace alone can bring an individual to this land. Grace and surrender alone will help one complete this holy pilgrimage. Jai Gurudev Datta!”

After the empowering satsang with Mohanji, we got ready to start our climb to Mount Girnar. Along with me, Ruchika, Sonia, Hemkant and his wife Shilpa were ready too. After attending the aarati at Gorakhnath temple and dinner, we started our walk around 9 pm. We took blessings from the idols of Lord Datta and Hanuman at the bottom of Girnar and started climbing from there.

We had no idea about what the climbing path would be like, or how long it will take. We all carried a stick, a bottle of water, and chanting Lord Datta’s name, we kept on climbing. As we picked up our pace, a couple of people fell behind. As I was walking, I felt that there were Masters from above looking at us. I could feel their energy around us.

Walking up the steep steps wasn’t easy for me. My knees hurt, and my legs felt weak to move. I had to take frequent stops to sit down and then kept on walking. At some point, all of us met up again, and we sat down at that point to meditate for a few minutes and then continued walking. As we were walking, another elderly couple joined us. As we were climbing, I spoke to them about Mohanji, Mohanji’s mission, liberation and gave a brief of his teachings, too.

At some point during our walk, we noticed that George had arrived. He was walking very fast, chanting “Jai Gurudeva Datta, Hari Om Tat-Sat” loudly. When he saw us, he hugged us and kept on walking. Seeing the energetic George walking with such speed, chanting loudly, I felt a sudden surge of energy in my own body. He reminded me of Lord Hanuman, who was empowered because of his faith and devotionHemkant started walking fast, ahead with George. The rest of us were walking at our own pace, Shilpa and I were together, walking, talking, resting. It was not so easy, and the body would give up. In those moments, I thought of Mohanji and Lord Datta and reminded myself that this is my path; this is my destination; this is the goal – to reach Datta, I have to do it.

Surrendering each step to Lord Datta, I kept walking. Something in me started telling me, “keep walking.” Slowly, the energy started flowing and I could climb with lesser effort.

After some time, I saw that Hemkant was resting because of severe pain in his knee, and Shilpa was with him. George went ahead. I could not wait with Hemkant because the inner voice said,  “keep walking”. I kept walking, and another old couple were walking along too. We sent a balm for Hemkant that the couple had with them through some people going down, and we kept on walking ahead.

After 3000 steps, we reached the Neminath Tirthankar temple along with the elderly couple.

Following a brief rest, I started climbing up again alone. It was pitch dark. I had no torch. The couple were still resting behind, but I kept walking even in the darkness. I could feel the pull of some divine energy which was making me walk. I didn’t know the path, but I kept on walking. When I felt tired, I would feel a sudden surge of energy as soon as I surrendered to Mohanji and Dattatreya. After a while, I heard Mohanji and his group coming behind us, Mohanji in a doli. I looked back at them, and I wanted to go towards Mohanji. Mohanji saw me and said, “Shinde don’t come back, keep walking, and go ahead”.  Now, I was walking with even more energy and joy knowing that Mohanji and the group are walking just behind me. I had no more fear, no more pain; I started climbing higher and higher. With each step, I was surrendering and climbing.

It was dark everywhere and pin-drop silence. Not a single soul to be seen. I was just taking each step slowly and going up with complete faith. After the 5000th step, I reached Ambaji’s temple. The doors of the temple were closed, and I did not know what to do. Mohanji’s words “keep walking” were always ringing in my head. So, I got up from the temple and started climbing again. Through ups and downs, amidst the dark in the silent path, walking continuously, finally I reached the Gorakhnath temple at around 7000 steps. At this point, the only sound was the sound of the wind blowing; hard-hitting, strong and cold. I also knew there were wild animals in those mountains, which I could not see or hear. I felt the presence of some Masters above me, walking along with me.  It was not that I was walking alone. Datta Guru  Mohanji was watching over me and that was the reason for this huge surge of energy coursing through my body, making me walk.  I remembered only these two things while walking.

mohanji black tshirt

At one point, the steps go down, and then they take off to go to the ultimate, Guru Shikhar – the peak. Climbing these steep steps towards the peak, I suddenly felt there were no thoughts. There was only emptiness. I had only two thoughts in my mind, to reach Guru Shikhar and be at the Datta temple before the aarati and to keep walking.

I was walking like a daredevil, without any fear of the solitude or darkness. Suddenly at one point, my stick slipped from my hand and went down somewhere in the dark. It can be quite a discomfort being without a stick in the darkness. I started chanting and climbing down slowly. Maybe after 50 steps or so, I saw my stick! It was stuck to something, and I had spotted it even in the dark. I picked up the stick, thanked Mohanji and Datta and started walking again with focus. At times, the fear of walking alone came to mind, but at those times, I felt the Masters watching over me and Mohanji’s presence with me, protecting me. My fear vanished with this understanding. I remembered Mohanji’s words, “keep walking” and so I kept walking.

The final part of climbing was very steep, but I didn’t even realize how I climbed that part. Finally, I saw a flag and the top of Guru Shikhar, the top of the temple and I started climbing further. It was getting even windier at the top, and I felt that I might fall. After climbing carefully, I reached the top, and I saw George sitting just below the Datta temple. He guided me to go further up near the temple, and when I reached there, I saw Rajesh Kamath and DB. It was 4 am (Brahma Muhurtha) when I reached the Datta temple.

I walked up and touched the temple; now was the time to sit down! At that point, I had an immense surge of energy in me, and I wasn’t feeling cold or wind beat. Rajesh forced me to wear my jacket and then I sat down. It was as if Mohanji acted like my mother, making sure I was protected from the cold wind. As soon as I put on my jacket and sat, intense pain started in my stomach centre near the navel, going back to my spine, like some pull, it was very painful. I didn’t know what it was and I started crying out to Datta. Rajesh helped me lie down and to rest completely, and soon I felt better. Datta’s healing energy had taken my pain away in minutes!

After about half an hour, Mohanji and the rest of the group arrived too. As soon as Mohanji saw me, he said, “Ah, Shinde, you are already there”. I said “Baba, all your love and grace” and I bowed down to him.

We were waiting for the temple to open at 5:30 am for the aarati. While the slight delay was happening, Sonia and Ruchika arrived. Then after the temple opened, while we were going inside, Hemkant and Shilpa arrived too. The entire Mohanji family was inside the temple just in time for the aarati. Mohanji ensured that everyone was there together with him.

Lord Dattatreya

This was the great divine grace of Datta.

Just before the aarati, while I was standing behind Mohanji, he said to Ananth who was there in the front, “You know this Shinde, she can talk about liberation in three minutes”. I blushed because I realized that Mohanji heard my conversation with the couple while we were walking about our Tradition, Masters, liberation etc. Mohanji reminded me once again that he is always listening to us.

Soon aarati started. It was such a powerful and divine moment to attend the Datta aarati in the physical presence of Mohanji. I couldn’t believe myself; I was physically there receiving this grace!!! I was speechless, completely merged with the divine grace of Mohanji and Datta. Time had stopped for me at that moment. So far, it was one of the greatest moments of my life.

After aarati, we went around the Lord Dattatreya’s idol inside the temple, had a good darshan and came out.

After the 7-8 hours long sadhana of climbing up, the descent was joyful. Yes, Mohanji ensured that the descent was joyful. Sonia, Ruchika and I started climbing down together, talking laughing, eating, our legs were flying with joy! Such satisfaction, such contentment!

We had many interesting incidents during our walk down, like meeting some strange people. We went to Gorakhnath temple, heard the inspiring story of the priest there who had left his banker job to serve in the temple. We then reached the Ambaji temple where we had darshan of the divine Mother and finally decided to sit down for some time to take rest. We were feeling as if we were flying, and we felt so light. We laughed at small things. On our way down, we met an old man looking like a yogi. He told us so many stories of Mount Girnar. We kept walking down, enjoying our journey together. After a while, we saw some monkeys and gave them watermelon. Then, from nowhere, a person started walking with us even after we said we didn’t need any help; he just wanted to accompany us. In between an old mother wanted some food for her children and we bought some food for her. Finally, in the mix of laughing, sitting, and walking, we reached the bottom of Mount Girnar and arrived at the Gorakhnath ashram. We offered food and some money to the person who had been walking with us all this time.

The next day, before leaving Girnar, we met Mohanji to express our gratitude and take his blessings. Again, Mohanji said to me, “Why do you need a doli, when you have this body?” He explained to me what a beautiful gift we have as this body and its importance. I was in deep gratitude, and tears rolled down my cheeks. Everything that happened the day before was only by the grace of my Datta, Guru Mohanji.

After returning from Girnar, I felt Mohanji was Lord Datta and daily did the Swami Samarth Datta aarati. However, Mohanji fulfilled every desire of mine within a few days.  Mahesh Bhalero sang a new Girnar Datta aarati to Mohanji. I was overjoyed and now I do the Mohanji datta aarati every day.

On my return to Bangalore, I also visited Devi Amma to give her Ganga water from Varanasi and some tamil books and spoke about the Girnar trip with Mohanji. Devi Amma said, “You have shed many lifetimes karmic baggage by climbing Girnar with Mohanji.” Then I understood what Mohanji had meant when he said, “It’s your sadhana.” It meant shedding karmic baggage.

Visiting Girnar had not been on my bucket list. Not even a thought had been there, at least not in my conscious mind. But it all just happened with the grace of Datta and the miracle of my Guru Mohanji. Even today, when I look back, I get goose bumps. How did it happen?

The truth is that the journey to Girnar happens only with complete faith and devotion, the grace of Dattatreya, and Datta Guru Mohanji, who carries you ahead.

This yatra (pilgrimage) to Girnar with Mohanji will remain close to my heart forever.

At the lotus feet of GURUDEVADATTA MOHANJI!

The tune of grace

By Ketan Patel, Canada

Today, I am going to share with you the story of ‘Brahmarishi Mohanji, Sadgurunatha Mohanji’ song, and how it was given to me by the grace of my Guru Shree Brahmarishi Mohanji. Before I share the story, I would like to share about how my journey started with Mohanji in August 2014 when he came to Canada for the first time.

I received an email from one of my friends about Mohanji’s visit to Canada. At that point in time, I was following Shree Shirdi Sai Baba and considered him as my Guru. I was adamant at first not to go and meet another Guru and I thought that why should I go and meet another Guru when I already had one! But that was not what happened! Some hidden power compelled me to read about who Mohanji was, so I googled about him. As soon as I read about him, I changed my decision and decided to go and have his darshan. When I first saw him, I immediately bent and touched his feet. I felt as if I had known him from the past. We had a satsang with Mohanji in a Hindu temple. That was my solo meeting with him for that year as I could not attend the rest of the programs because I had to rush to India to see my ailing mother.

Since 2014, Mohanji has visited Canada every year and I have had the opportunity to meet him and have his blessings every time. At the end of 2016, I applied for Consciousness Kriya and in 2017, I got my Kriya initiation from Mohanji.

One day, when I was doing my Kriya, I felt a strong connection with Mohanji. As soon as my Kriya was completed, I went and bowed down to Mohanji’s picture, then went to bow to Shree Sainath Maharaj’s idol that I have on my altar. Suddenly, without my knowing, I started humming the first few lines of the Brahmarishi Mohanji song and I had tears in my eyes out of love for him. Manisha, my wife who was in another room at that time, heard it and inquired as to what it was?! At that instance, I realized that I was singing a song for Mohanji. The matter ended there. However, it became a regular practice for me to sing that song every day and especially when I used to go for a bath. Till that time, it was only the first stanza. I have never written or composed a song, and nor have I any writing abilities to do that.

One evening, I had connected my music system on and was singing the same song on the mic. Manisha recorded it on her phone without my knowledge and sent it to Rajesh Kamath. Rajesh played it for Mohanji who received my offering with so much love. This was then shared with the Global family group. That’s how the whole Canada team got to know about it. I was asked to write more stanzas. I was not ready to do that as I thought I would not be able to do justice to it. The very next day, I was able to write the rest of the stanzas. I was under the impression that I had to do the work, instead, it was done by the grace of the Guru and I was just an instrument.

I got the message that Mohanji had asked to get it recorded in a studio. I started my efforts to find a studio that could help me with the music and recording. My friend Sanjay Acharya had recorded his songs for Mohanji with the help of a person in Delhi. He gave me the contact of that person and I got my music composed with that person. Somehow it took so long to get everything done and the song could not get recorded until 2020.

In 2020, I went to India to see my father who was on his deathbed. That was the same time when the Girnar retreat was planned. I felt unfortunate as I could not attend it nor could I meet Mohanji in India as I had to be with my father in his last moments. While in Vadodara, my hometown, with the help of my friend who is a filmmaker, I tried to find a studio for recording the song. He took me to a studio called Rishabh Recording Studio.

I gave my music track to the recordist and he set up everything to start the recording. I was a little nervous as it was the first professional recording that I was doing in my life. I was praying to Mohanji to help me through the process. Suddenly, I saw a photo frame of Shree Rang Avadhoot Maharaj on the recordist’s desk.

Shree Rang Avadhoot Maharaj

Shree Rang Avadhoot Maharaj is a disciple of Shree Vasudevan Saraswati (Tembe Swami), who is a Datta Avatar. I was happy that the Guru Mandala was with me, the whole lineage was with me, and my Guru Mohanji was with me!

I went into the recording cabin, happy that at last, I was going to be able to record my song. The music track started playing and I started singing the song. All of a sudden, the recordist halted the process and spoke to me about Mohanji. He inquired, “Who is this Mohanji?” I told him, “He is my Guru.” The next surprising question was, “Did he go to Girnar recently?” I said, “Yes there was a retreat in Girnar and Mohanji had visited the Datta Temple in Girnar.” Now, see the grace of Guru, Srirang Soni (the recordist) happened to be a friend of Ananth from Australia and had helped Ananth with arrangements for the Girnar retreat. From then on everything became smooth. He was amicable. The whole process of recording the song was finished in almost half an hour with a couple of retakes. After that, I came out to his desk and we had a friendly chat with each other.

I was able to present the song to Mohanji on his birthday as a small gift to him. In this whole process, nothing was done by me. The whole play was of Mohanji’s. The song was written by him, composed by him and sung by him. I was just an instrument. Such is the grace of Guru. He works through you for you! It is indeed a bagful of past good karma which brings a Guru of such magnanimous stature in your life. Shree Brahmrishi Mohanji is such a Guru. I am so fortunate to be with him. Thank you Mohanji, for being with me!

Presence without presence

Mohanji Turtle

By Mahesh Bhalerao, Canada

When you love Mohanji from the bottom of the heart, Mohanji does appear, you can feel and observe Mohanji’s presence. It happens with awareness and if your sentiments are strong, you can undoubtedly feel Mohanji’s presence.

Mohanji yelllow

We have all had so many experiences in the past; however, Mohanji Datta Tapovan (MDT) Ashram, Toronto, is a place where you can strongly feel Mohanji’s presence even though he is physically not present at the ashram site. Mohanji’s last visit in June 2019 was very powerful and a strong presence of Guru Mandala was experienced because we had Mohanji Acharya training conducted by Mohanji at the MDT Ashram. After finishing the program, Mohanji left for his next destination on June 27th, 2019, and while leaving when I went to see him, I was feeling very nervous and sad, and Mohanji said to me, “I am going, however, I am not going, you will feel me.”

This beautiful experience unfolded whereby I felt his presence in his room, very soon after Mohanji leaving Canada.

At Mohanji Datta Tapovan Ashram, Mohanji has a room and when I went inside the room on June 28th, 2019, I felt Mohanji’s strong presence and he gave me his darshan sitting on his usual chair. I could see with my eyes that he was sitting on his chair.

This may sound delusional, and I too was carrying the same thought. Maybe it was a hallucination. However, my doubt was cleared by one more evidence of Mohanji’s presence at the ashram. This time it was his footprint on the cushion, which Mohanji normally uses under his feet, whenever he sits in the main sitting area near the fireplace. My son Neerav also confirmed the same and then I realised that it was not a hallucination and his presence was evident and true. Later, when Sanjay Bhai came, he also saw the same and confirmed the presence of the footprint as Mohanji’s presence without presence.

Even after one year, on June 19th, 2020, at 3:30 am, I heard a noise in Mohanji’s room. Because of the Early Birds Club, I was awake and ready to do my daily Sadhana. I heard a noise and my first thought was, what was that noise and who might be in that room early at 3:30 am? I really felt that someone was in that room.

BABA

I checked the door and it was locked. The second thought was it must be Mohanji, and I opened the door and went inside, putting the diya (lamp) in front of the Sai idol. I could feel a presence, had goosebumps and literally felt the energy source moving around exactly as if someone was walking in the room behind me.

I realised that it was Mohanji’s energy as his favourite perfume smell in the room at the time was very strong. As I was sitting there thinking in my mind if this was real, there was a noise in the room again, this time it was from the washroom. My joy had no boundaries as Mohanji was responding to my thoughts. I prayed to Mohanji that I was very happy, my Father/Baba (Mohanji) was present with me on my birthday, and as usual, started crying and was on the floor doing Sashtang Namaskara (prostrations). After a while, I left the room thinking that if this is all real, I would like to see Mohanji in any physical form.

Lord Datta

After performing the Kakad aarati, while I was at Lord Dattatreya’s temple around 8:15 am, I saw an unusual movement on the ground near the temple. Curious and a little upset as I thought that someone had thrown some garbage on the ground, I went closer and realised it was moving. After taking a good look, I realised that it was a turtle! I ran back to the basement kitchen to bring some food for it. I was happy to see the turtle because at the same time last year when Mohanji was at the ashram, we saw a turtle, and that turtle was referred to as Maha Vishnu Swarup (a form of Lord Vishnu).

For me, it was darshan of my Maha Vishnu MOHANJI, my Father had shown me his physical presence in a unique way. For me anything and everything is Mohanji, as it says in Mohanji’s aarati, ‘Bhagavan Brahma Vishnu and Shiva Swarup, which is nothing but Lord Dattatrya as one.

I believe that Mohanji himself appeared in the form of a turtle showing me his Vishnu Swarup. I did Vishnu Shastra names chanting and Lord Dattatreya’s aarati. My strong belief is that Mohanji is a Swarup of Lord Dattatraya and his consciousness resides in all living beings as well as in the smallest living sukshma (subtle or intangible), beings on Earth.

My humble and loving gratitude to Mohanji for showing me his presence in the Mohanji Datta Tapovan Ashram in such a beautiful and tangible way.

A Dream of Blessings

Mohanji_blessing_at Manasarovar

By Rekha Murali, Chennai, India

On 11th August, when Mohanji was in Manasarovar, it was unbearably hot in Chennai. I read Chapter 4 of Sripada Srivallabha Charitaamrutam and drifted off to sleep. During that short nap, I had a dream. In that dream, Murali (my husband) and I are at the Sripada Srivallabha temple. I suddenly see Deviji and then immediately look for Mohanji. He sees me, l take off my slippers and run to Him. He was wearing white. He blesses me, gives me a prasad made of banana and jaggery. He offers another prasad that appears like ghee (clarified butter), asks me to eat it and then gives me a few drops of milk – yet another prasad. All the prasad that I receive are normally given in temples in South India, particularly Kerala. Immediately, in a small copper vessel with a snout, He offers water (tirth). He then pours a little water on the vibhuti in my hand and asks me to put it in my mouth. He chants something and explains the meaning in Malayalam. I don’t understand the language and I ask Him repeatedly to say it in English. He struggles to do it. I am surprised and I ask Him the reason for His struggle with English. I hold His right hand. He looks at me, doesn’t say anything but continues to explain in Malayalam. I try to clarify a few words in English. He nods. (I don’t remember anything of what He explained). I soon realise He is in an expanded state and is trying to tell me something.

I then call my husband to get prasad from Mohanji.  When my husband approaches and takes prasad, I look at the man giving prasad, it is not Mohanji. Mohanji has moved further away and my husband goes to Him. Mohanji greets him and blesses us with akshhadha (rice grains).

Towards the end of the dream, Mohanji appeared dressed in black with a black bandana on His head and looked piercingly at me with dark intense eyes. To me, this vision depicts the power of Mohanji, who is beyond forms and is the Supreme Consciousness.

This was the first time that Mohanji appeared in my dream. It was on an auspicious day, a day when our Kailash yatris were with Mohanji in Manasarovar. We received pictures from Kailash that evening and Mohanji was dressed in white! The eyes that I saw in the picture were exactly what I witnessed in my dream!

Pada Puja for Mohanji

Incidentally, with Mohanji’s blessings, on 15th August, I did visit a Datta temple (Sripada Srivallabha Anushsthan) at Gokarna, Karnataka, India that was built by Sripada Srivallabha, soon after the dream.

I have always felt disheartened when reading about the dream experiences of others and wondered why Mohanji never appears in mine. With this dream, I understand that He appears in all forms when the time is right and the connection is strong!

The following question and Mohanji’s response are very relevant here.

Q: I dreamt of you, is it possible to connect with you even through dreams?

Mohanji : So any dream;  you interpret it as you wake up, “It’s a dream, I met Mohanji,” may not be a dream. It could be a connection which we had astrally.

I feel so happy that I am connected with Mohanji’s consciousness and received His blessings in such a beautiful way. Mohanji always reaches out to each one of us, showering us with His Grace.

Kailash not too far!

Kailash pilgrimage 2019. Mohanji and a group of nearly 100 yatris were at Lake Manasarovar. Thousands of miles away in a small part of South Wales, UK, in the Skanda Vale ashram, NellyAnne, Subhasree and Moushumi were doing Consciousness Kriya in the presence of the Lord Dattatreya idol. Their deep connection to Mohanji and their practice of Kriya with conviction and consistency had blessed them with incredible visions and experiences!

Incredible is the grace of Guru Mandala that through these visions of Mohanji in Kailash, it was proven yet again that when Mohanji travels on a pilgrimage, He just doesn’t take people physically, He takes everyone connected to His consciousness spiritually too!

Read on to feel the power of this grace!

By NellyAnne Noronha

I had registered my application for the Kailash trip 2019 with Mohanji. However, due to unavoidable reasons, I couldn’t make it. I accepted this as divine will and decided to go with the flow. I was reassured by Preeti Duggal ji, a core member of Mohanji family, that with Mohanji’s grace and blessings I will be able to experience the entire pilgrimage despite not being there in person. This assurance reminded me of Mohanji’s words during the satsang in Pinner in 2018 (my first meeting with Mohanji physically),

“Everyone present here is not because of a coincidence, We have all been connected for many lifetimes.”

Connection to Guru and the Tradition is shown in many ways. Another form of reassurance I received was through a sudden visit to a Sai temple in Wembley. This was certainly the call of Sai Baba! The visit to the temple became very special as unexpectedly I was able to be a part of a very sacred ritual as well as I receiving a shawl that was used to adorn Baba’s idol as a gift! The following day I saw a photo of the chief Priest of Shirdi offering a garland to Mohanji at the first meeting of all the Kailash Yatris in Kathmandu. This was indeed a reminder of the statement of Preeti Duggal ji. Experiencing Kailash Yatra with Mohanji!

The Master continued to shower his grace when I got a chance to join the ACT Foundation team for the Skanda Vale charity food stall on the 10th and 11th of August. On the 11th of August, there was also a special function of the reunion of Lord Muruga with his consorts.

After closing our food stall, Subhasree, Moushumi and I reached the hall where there was a multitude of people already sitting and enjoying the devotional bhajans. In a miraculous way, all 3 of us got some space to sit next to the Sisters right in front of the altar. We realised this was none other than Mohanji listening to the true cries of love and showering his grace on us to fulfil all our desires. Suddenly the Swami invited all 3 of us along with the community members and a few other volunteers to participate in the special ceremony of sprinkling petals of flowers to Lord Muruga and his consorts while chanting the auspicious 108 Namavali. This was beyond the ordinary and I knew from the bottom of my heart that it was Mohanji and the Guru Mandala’s blessings for us. We were closely participating in such a powerful and auspicious ritual, while the other devotees with Mohanji were at Kailash Mansarovar! The grace didn’t stop there. We even got the chance to join the procession with fire lamps in our hands going inside the main temple and we witnessed a very powerful aarti offered in the main Garbhagriha. During this I saw several Divine beings appear as beautiful lights moving up and around, dancing to unheard celestial music playing in the background, while Mohanji was blessing the devotees on the banks of Kailash Mansarovar.

Mohanji_blessing_at Manasarovar.jpg

I was deeply touched and moved to tears as I went through these divine experiences. This was no less than a direct pilgrimage to Kailash! These were truly blissful and gratifying experiences.

After these sublime experiences at the temple, we decided to visit the Lord Datta temple. The place was so serene that we all decided to do Kriya sitting in front of Lord Datta. Suddenly, I noticed a light shining from the Datta idol which was then replaced by the smiling face of Mohanji.

This was the most blissful experience for me as I felt Mohanji himself reassuring me of our connection, and my presence with him and the other devotees in Kailash.

Mohanji at the Datta Temple in Skanda Vale

My sincere gratitude to the Divinity and the entire Guru Mandala for such grace and blessings.

By Subhasree Thottungal

11th August 2019. A very auspicious day. While Mohanji and about a hundred devotees were at Kailash Manasarovar, we were in Skanda Vale during the same weekend, doing a charity food stall. The entire Skanda Vale was in bliss in celebrating the special function of the reunion of Lord Murugan with his consorts. The function brought so much awareness of the divine presence and high energy in this powerful place. I felt Mohanji’s presence there every moment. Mohanji and Skanda Vale have a special equation, which I have realised with some divine awareness, as narrated in my earlier blog, ‘The truth beyond revelations’.

Soon after the ceremonies inside the Subramanyam temple, with heightened energy and deep gratitude, Moushumi, NellyAnne and I went to the Lord Datta’s temple. It’s almost a year (1 year on 15thAugust), since this Lord Datta temple in Skanda Vale had come into existence and Mohanji had done the prana pratishta of the Lord Datta idol! As Mohanji had said at that time, a part of His soul is inside this Datta Idol! Whenever I visit here and see Lord Datta, I feel Mohanji’s presence.

Datta Prana Pratistha 1
Mohanji doing the Prana Pratistha of Lord Datta in Skanda Vale, 16th Aug 2018

When I reached the Datta temple, I felt the urge to do Kriya there. Moushumi and NellyAnne joined in too. Kriya in front of Datta took me to a different plane altogether. As if I was transported elsewhere! And then appeared this divine vision!

The vision of Mohanji in his white attire, sitting in front of Lake Mansarovar, with lots of people seated around him. The blue water of Mansarovar with tiny waves, blue sky with white clouds showing the presence of many divine beings. Though I could see many human beings, the only face that was clear was Mohanji’s.

When I finished Kriya, for a few moments, my hands were numb. I opened my eyes and looked at Datta’s face.Such a striking smile as if Mohanji was standing there and smiling at me and saying, “You wanted to see me at Mansarovar, right? Are you happy now?”

We all knew that on this same day Mohanji was at Mansarovar with all the other devotees. Mohanji had assured us, we will be with him, in spirit. How true is that!

The vision I had during Kriya showed this through the divine communion with my Guru.

Mohanji_Manasarovar_2019.jpeg
Mohanji in front of Manasarovar, 2019

The very next day, I received a picture someone sent from Kailash, which showed that the previous day, on 11th Aug, Mohanji sitting in front of Mansarovar and devotees around him! Mohanji in his white attire! Such a resemblance between my vision and this photo proved everything! The vision during Kriya was indeed a divine darshan that Mohanji showed me sitting in front of Datta thousands of miles away, but not too far from him, not too far from Kailash. Such grace. Such love from my Guru. Words falling short to describe!

This was not all. I was reminded of such grace happening in two earlier years when Mohanji had been to Kailash. Although I was far away physically, I still had the darshan of Mohanji in Kailash. I must write those two accounts too.

August 2016. Mohanji was in Kailash with about 80 devotees. I had been following the updates regularly. Photos from Kailash were not just beautiful scenic images. They had life and were passing the Shiva tattva energy. The power was such that sitting on the seashore of Lanzarote (a small island, part of the Canary Islands in Spain, where we were on a family holiday), a small hillock just inside the sea, felt like Kailash. “Om Namah Shivaay” chanting came out spontaneously. Suddenly, the clouds above took a circular form. The epicentre lying just above the tip of the small hillock! Morning sun rays piercing through these clouds indicated definitely something divine!

At that point I had such connection with Kailash, I felt as if I was with Mohanji in Kailash. I thought, next Kailash with Mohanji, I must go.

The year passed. Kailash with Mohanji in 2017 came. However, I couldn’t go! While Mohanji and the devotees were in Kailash in 2017, devotees all over the world were doing a 24 hour long continuous chanting on 16th July 2017. In London, at my home, we were doing the group chanting, during which I had a vision that

Mohanji was standing inside Mansarovar. The water was blue coloured and crystal clear. I then saw all the Gods & Goddesses, Ganesh, Lakshmi, Saraswati and all the other Gods in the sky, showering flowers on him.

This vision was so clear and so divine. After the chanting was over, I shared this vision with everyone and expressed my gratitude to Mohanji for giving me darshan while in Mansarovar.

Two days later, a photo came in with the update from Kailash, the photo of Mohanji inside Mansarovar. This matched the vision I had during chanting.

Mohanji_Manasarovar_1_2017.jpg
Mohanji inside the Manasarovar, 2017

My heart was filled with deep gratitude to have received this darshan despite being physically so far away in London!

However, somewhere inside me, I had a slight feeling of guilt. Where did my desire for Kailash go? How did I leave this opportunity to go to Kailash with Mohanji in 2017? A few months later, in November 2017, I got a chance to be with Mohanji in Serbia and I couldn’t hold myself but to express this feeling of guilt to him. The spontaneous answer that came from Mohanji, left me speechless.

“I just don’t carry people to Kailash physically, I carry people spiritually too. You have been to Kailash with me spiritually. Your desire has been fulfilled. Hence no more desire.”

Well, what more did I need to understand?

Indeed Mohanji carried me with Him in 2016 and in 2017 too! This year in 2019, before Mohanji left for Kailash, I had no doubt, I knew Mohanji would carry me with him, along with all the other devotees connected to him. Mohanji’s message for all connected to Him,

“You are inside me. How can you be separate from me?”

filled my heart with gratitude and profound love for the unconditional love and compassion he has for me, for all of us!

Through this vision during Kriya in front of Lord Datta, Mohanji proved this yet again! Not that I needed any proof. But he knows that this naïve heart still desires every single vision of my beloved Guru, physically or astrally! His darshan makes me pure, makes me complete, liberates me from all worldly desires.

I am so deeply touched by the grace that the Tradition and Mohanji shower on me (in fact on all of us), much beyond our expectations and imaginations. My deep gratitude to Mohanji my Guru, and this sacred Tradition that we belong to!

Jai Shree Datta.

Jai Mohanji.

By Moushumi Patankar

On the 10th and 11th of August, my family and I were with the ACT Foundation team for the food seva in Skanda Vale. On the 11th, after attending the powerful reunion ceremony of Lord Subramanyam, Subhasree, NellyAnne and I went to the Lord Datta temple.

When we were in front of Lord Datta, we decided to sit down for Kriya.

As soon as I sat, I felt as if my whole body was rotating in 360 degrees. After a few moments, I saw beautiful lights; blue/light green just like the colour of a beautiful lake, orange/ yellow/gold like bright sunshine or a havan (sacred fire). I then saw many faces. The first face was of my beloved Datta swaroopa Mohanji who was right in front of us, smiling at us. And then a thought, aah so many faces along with Mohanji’s! In the end, just before finishing Kriya I saw Mohanji’s aura!

I realised the vision I had during this Kriya in front of Datta was of Mohanji with the other Kailash Yatris in front of Mansarovar! Without any expectations, without any imagination, Mohanji and Lord Datta graced me with this divine vision, so far away from Kailash.

My deep gratitude to Mohanji for filling every single moment of my life with his grace.

Mohanji’s Visit to UK – Aug 2018

By Mohanji Fundation UK Team

divine
Divine Presence

British Summer of 2018, brought real sunshine to the UK! After months of waiting, Mohanji along with His family was visiting the UK in August. From the 8th to the 19th, 11 whole days in the physical presence of Mohanji! UK was bubbling.

Programmes were lined up for Mohanji’s visit months in advance. Various preparations started many weeks prior to Mohanji’s arrival and continued until the last day. The 3 major programmes planned were – a 3 days retreat with Mohanji, a public Satsang and Mohanji’s participation in the consecration of a Dattatreya idol in Skanda Vale ashram.

As the day of Mohanji’s arrival neared, excitement grew. Retreat places were fully booked. Satsang places were over booked. Arrangement for Mohanji’s accomodation, food and comfort were being looked after. Arrangement of Mohanji’s visit to Skanda Vale was planned. The UK was all set to welcome Mohanji to their land and to their hearts.

Following are the events and golden moments with Mohanji during His UK visit, which we would like to share with everyone.

  1. Arrival
  2. Media Interviews
  3. Mohanji’s Paada Puja
  4. Meditation and Satsang with Mohanji
  5. Retreat with Mohanji at Gilwell Park
  6. Mohanji in Skandavale (Please read a separate blog on this)
  7. Consciousness Kriya Initiation

1. Mohanji’s Arrival

Finally, the day arrived. On the 8th of Aug 2018 afternoon, Mohanji, Deviji and little Mila arrived at Gatwick airport while a few devotees waited eagerly to receive them. Mohanji was coming to London after 10 long months! We waited with abundance of joy, hearts pounding to feel Mohanji’s physical presence, to touch His feet, to receive His hug. This meeting at the airport was indeed a very special one, lucky are those who took this opportunity to welcome Mohanji and family to London.

2. Media Interviews

During the visit, there were 3 Media interviews scheduled with Mohanji and one with Deviji.

The first one was with Mantra Therapy team on 8th August evening. This interview was held at Ahimsa Vegan Cafe and was Live on Faccebook and Youtube channels.

Another interview was scheduled with Athavan TV, a Tamil TV Channel based in the UK, for the 9th afternoon.

This interview will be aired on the TV channel that reaches about 30,000 homes in the UK, during the first week of September.

The 3rd Interview was with another local TV channel called MA TV, specifically designed for religious and spiritual programmes. This interview was held at the channel’s working studio in Wembley on the 11th and it was covered live by the TV channel as well as the channel’s FB page.

 3. Mohanji’s Paada Puja:

Perfroming Guru’s Paada Puja is a very auspicious ritual that most disciples think as their utmost fortune. Guru Poornima is a day when mostly disciples and devotees perform thsi ritual to show their acceptance and devotion to their Guru. Our Guru Brahmarishi Mohanji, being a true avadhoota, always moves from place to place, continents to continents, hence being in his physical presence in Guru Poornima is not really an opportunity that devotees in UK are blessed with every year! Hence earlier this year on July 27, for Guru Poornima, it was Guru’s Paduka Puja that they had done.

While Mohanji was in UK, some of them devotees wished to perform Mohanji’s Paada Puja. Mohanji kindly agreed to it. With a short notice, in the morning of 9th August, this programme was arranged. Before the ritual begun, Mohanji gave an amazing satsang of expalining every one the significance of this ritual. You can read about Mohanji’s satsang on Guru Paada Puja, here.

4. Meditation and Satsang with Mohanji:

On the 10th Aug, Meditation and satsang with Mohanji was arranged free to public at Pinner. The hall with the capacity of 120 seats was overbooked prior to Mohanji’s arrival. All volunteers geered up and arranged the hall, set up the altar, sound, light, book stall, Water and fruits etc.

Deviji started with a brief introduction and then conducted the Bliss of Silence Meditation. This time a lot of new attendees were noticed who enjoyed the meditation.

Just before Meditation finished, Mohanji entered the hall and took his Seat and after a brief message, He took on the questiones from audience.

The live video of this satsang can be viewed at the Mohanji UK FB page.

The transcription of this satsang will be published soon.

Here are few photos from the Meditation and Satsang.

Park visit

Mohanji reached the Satsang location slightly earlier than planned. So we thought He could take a walk in the park behind the venue, while the meditation was still going on inside. It was about 8pm and most of the park was getting dark. While we were walking along the path, suddenly we noticed far away on the left side, one part of the park was very bright with brilliant sunlight. We started walking towards that side. It was almost like a twilight moment , amazingly bright sunshine coming from far away in the lower horizon only while Mohanji was walking towards that direction. We clicked a few photos. Some of the photos showed some wonderful things, that we had not noticed with our naked eyes. Many photos taken from multiple cameras showed appearances of what seemed like celestial beings of different shapes, sizes and colours. These photos were captured in multiple mobile phone cameras, not any hi fi digital SLR camera and hence no possibility of digital trick here.

After a few minutes, as we were walking back, the light from that area disappeared suddenly and very abruptly. We realised, the light in that area was not merely a play of sunshine. This was because of the presence of celestial beings, who were gathered there to meet Mohanji. This was all part of a divine plan that our gross minds were unable to understand. Reaching the venue early, taking a walk in the park, all this had been planned for a different purpose by the Divine. As mere witnesses, without our gross recognition at that point, we were superbly blessed to be a part of this communion.

5. Retreat with Mohanji at Gilwell Park

This is the 4th year in a row that followers and devotees in the UK have been blessed to have a retreat with Mohanji. As in the previous years, it was organised at Gilwell Park, with the uniqueness of superb vegan food with a cordial and amusing community living atmosphere.

However, this year it was not just devotees from the UK, but many from other countries such as Norway, Malyasia, USA, Switzerland and India were also present at this retreat, which was fully booked much earlier than before. This time with the presence of both Mohanji and Deviji, the programme of the retreat offered many exciting flavours. While everyone abslutely longed and loved being with Mohanji, completely merging in the high energy vibrations of His physical presence, Deviji’s HSTY yoga in the mornings, Awkening Yoga Nidra and Consciouss Dancing took the participants into a blissful state.

Meditations with energy transfer  and Conscious Walking turned into powerhouse experiences for everyone, taking them to very high levels of meditative states during these activities. Long and heartwarming Satsangs and Q&A sessions with Mohanji in the mornings and evenings were the absolute bliss and highlight of the retreat. Sitting in front of the Master, listening to Him, laughing with Him, crying in front Him, everyone had their heart chakra completely opend up!

Every evening, after the post dinner satsang, devotees offered their gratitude to Mohanji through soulful bhajans which filled everyone with immense devotion, giving the end of each powerful day a soothing touch to go into a restful night and then to get ready for the next morning. One evening, to everyone’s surprise, Mohanji Himself joined a devotee and sang a beautiful bhajan with her. This added immense joy in everyone hearts that’s beyond comprehension. Read the experience shared by Subhasree and the video of this bhajan sung by Mohanji.

During these 3 days, everyone felt the subtle ways of how Mohanji works. Along with His sharpness and clarity in explaining eveything that everyone needed to know (whether they verbally asked or not, questions were answered!), His ease, humour and lighthearted way of explaining the toughest of the questions, He filled everyone with His divinity and bliss.

Being in Mohanji’s divine and high energy field, many felt emotions that they expressed freely. Every facet of expression, be it joy, laughter, crying, devotion, singing or dancing, eveyone felt an intensity to express what they felt for the Master!

All the attendees had a chance to have a conversation with Mohanji, during break-out times or short breaks. Everyone had their photos taken with Mohanji too! This photo is not just another addition to the album, but will be a memory of a lifetime that everyone will treasure.

During this retreat a special announcement happened. Tajinder, a devotee from Birmingham had expressed his wish a month back to produce a perfume in Mohanji’s name and dedicate it to Him. Mohanji had very kindly agreed saying to him that other devotees must approve the fragrance, as this perfume in Mohanji’s name should bring the feeling of Mohanji’s presence to devotees . So Tajinder with his utmost devotion and sincerity attempted this and with feedback from other devotees, he finally produced “Mohanji Factor” perfume and offered to Mohanji at the retreat. Deviji inaugurated the first bottle and this was sprayed to everyone present in the hall. Later on few bottles that were available to purchase, all got sold. However Mohanji carried a couple of bottles with Him and we learnt that on 3rd Sept, on Janmashtami day and the last Monday of the pious Shravan month, while Mohanji was present in Shirdi, this perfume was offered and applied to Shirdi Sai Baba in the morning in Mohanji’s presence as well as in the evening.

Before leaving, every single person received the ultimate energy transfer – “Shaktipat” from Mohanji. The effect of subtle transformations, clearing away of layers and layers of blockages directly from the causal layer, that Mohanji has imparted on every single attendee will continue for days and weeks to come, bringing in positive changes in their lives.

Only the presence of such a Master, His one glance, His one touch could clear away blockages from life times. Sooner or later, everyone will realise this subtelty, no doubt.

Almost everyone who attended the Retreat with Mohanji have given their honest, sincere and positive feedback. Many have shared their expreinces as testimonials.

These feedback and testimonials can be accessed from the blogsite & website.

6. Mohanji in Skandavale

Please Read about Mohanji’s Skandavale visit in this blog.

7. Consciousness Kriya Initiation

As it is said, when wishes and prayers from the hearts of devotees comes out with sincerity and bhaav, Guru and God have no option but to grant it. Power of devotion! Such was an example seen during this visit. A big event of Kriya Intensive had been recently organised in the Bosnian Pyramids at the end of May 2018. Hence there was no plan of Consciousness Kriya intiation during Mohanji’s UK visit. However, a few devotees who have been longing to get the initiation but could not go to the Kriya Intensive programme in Bosnia, still had the hope in their hearts that Mohanji may initate them during His visit.

With packed schedules every single day, it seemed next to impossible to arrange a Kriya initiation programme! However, Guru can make anything possible, when He sees true devotion. That’s exactly what happened this time! Mohanji appreciated the heartfelt and sincere request from these devotees and amidst His packed schedule, agreed to have the Kriya initiation on the very last day of His stay, the day after returning from Skanda Vale. Deviji conducted the training process, very kindly and elaborately clarifying each and every point with patience and her usual loving and fun attitude. Mohanji finally joined the Kriya group, answered all the questiones everyone had and after the satsang, initiated all the newly trained people.

This was indeed a dream come true for Vincent & Annabelle and Mr & Mrs Thakkar who have been longing to get intiation from Mohanji. Along with them a few more fortunate souls found a tool that will take them straight on the path of liberation at rocket speed.

Such is the tradition. Such is the Golden path of Liberation.

8. Departure from London

After the 11 days long blissful and energetic events in the UK, Mohanji left for Canada on the 20th of Aug 2018. In conscioussness, we are always together. Even then, being in Mohanji’s physical presence brings immeasurable joy and happiness. So bidding Him good bye at the airport was not a easy thing to do, though He kept everyone laughing till the very last moment He disappeared from our sight. Staying connected always and meeting sometime again soon were the assurances everyone received from the beloved Guru..

9. Memorable moments with Mohanji

Amidst the busy schedules and back to back events, Foundation volunteers grabbed every possible opportunity to have some memorable moments with Mohanji. The most humourous, fun loving Mohanji in these casual moments filled everyone with joy and unlimited happiness.

Dushyanthi has been longing to get Mohanji’s footprint for her altar. She had the opportunity to get it done on soft clay on a casual morning after breakfast. Her beautiful experience on this can be read here. This was the icing on top of the cake to have some fun-filled casual moments with the ever-loving, ever enchanting Mohanji.

We look forward to Mohanji coming back to UK in the future and give us many more memorable moments filled with joy and bliss. Till then we stay connected in the consciousness!

Tradition never leaves you

Written by Sumit Partap Gupta

Tradition never leaves us…once we embrace the tradition
Tradition never leaves us…once we embrace the tradition

With the Grace and blessings of our Master would like to share some key insights and hidden messages in the amazing blog “Born from the fire.”

This story awakens my understanding and throws light on many aspects of the eternal truths of our tradition. This truly opens one’s eyes..

Tradition never leaves us…once we embrace the tradition; it takes care of us always through time and space, through lifetimes which is an eternal promise. Atmananda Chaithanaya who is Aghora Baba himself found and met Rama Shastri. Rama who was living his life compassionately and doing his business ethically could easily recognize His Gurudeva.  It was his well-kept purity of inner space that allowed him that instant recognition. In today’s business world, due to greed for profits, most people never take care of their inner space and contaminate them unconsciously. Business also can be done in a pure way which benefits everyone. This is a great lesson to be learned. The advantage of being pure within is the gift of the “true eyes” to see.

When Atmanandaji  gave money to Aruna the second time to fetch some sweets from Rama’s shop, He was very much aware that Rama would not be in the shop and that his granddaughter would readily accept the money for the sweets.  The hidden message was that Atamanadji knew that Panduranga’s journey was about to get over and after eating the sweets, Panduranga’s last desire would be fulfilled and he would breathe his last. To cut Panduranga’s last karmic bond Atmananda himself gave money to Aruna for sweets. There are two aspects to it. The same morning, Rama Shastri had delivered sweets and food as usual.. Atmananda could have saved some sweets for Panduranga. He did not. Instead He chose to spend money from his pocket and buy more. In a way, as I understand, Atmananda fulfilled two debts at the same time. 1. He paid for the services rendered by the pious Rama Shastri. (There were no sweets in his shop. Atmananda materialized the sweets and also paid for it). Secondly, he indirectly paid Panduranga also, for his services, through the final fulfillment of his deep desire for sweets. And this also can be looked at as a kind of Dakshina or a gift of money a father might give to his son who is embarking on a long journey. Even though physical cash was not given, this can be considered as dakshina.

He is everything, yet he is nothing. Non-conformity in its perfection!
He is everything, yet he is nothing. Non-conformity in its perfection!

On the other hand Aruna’s mind didn’t understand the logic behind Atmananda’s action of sending him to fetch the sweets but he never questioned his Master. He never asked  “ Why “. A perfect sign of our tradition. The all-knowing master is never questioned and the ego, intellect and mind is totally surrendered at the feet of the master. His wish is the disciple’s command. We must also understand that a thought indeed sprouted in the mind of Aruna as to “WHY” which itself showed that he has indeed miles to go in surrender. Atmananda perhaps wanted to prove this aspect to Aruna too. That is probably why he chose Aruna for this errand. Atmananda was also about to leave his body. If Aruna does not shed his last remnants of resistance now, he may have to come back again into the birth-death cycle. A golden lesson indeed!

Aghora Baba represents Shiva, Vishnu & Shakti Bhaav. These are the three main aspects that constitutes three major paths of Hinduism. Shivaite path, Vaishnavaite path and the Shakti path (The goddess). (This is not Shaktipat, the transfer of energy from a guru to a disciple)  In other words, Aghora Baba represented the whole Hinduism. The Shiva Bhaav was evident from his face and appearance, celestial fragrance emitting from his body represented the Vishnu Bhaav, His action of carrying a skull always in His hand and dancing naked on the burning pyre along with His group portrayed His Kali Bhaav. So, he represented the whole aspects of Hinduism in its totality. He is everything, yet he is nothing. Non-conformity in its perfection!

It takes deep devotion and clear and clean inner space. The rest is grace.

Aghora Baba used to dance naked and be with naked women. People accused him of promoting prostitution and indulging in all kinds of bad habits but Aghora Baba represents   “The Source ” and One who is the source Himself is beyond any expressions, impressions and cannot be put into any frame of morality. In fact with His own life, he was mocking at the fragile morality of the villagers, who wear masks of morality at convenience. Deep fear held them back from attacking the powerful Baba head on. This is also another mirror to the society. A challenge to be fearless! Living in burial ground, that too with His disciples, fire rituals in funeral fire, dancing in fire etc signifies, total denial of any norms and total control over fear of all kinds. Modern man may call it insanity. But, Babaji’s life is more of a bold statement towards the fragile, fearful and tamasic society.

Aghora Baba is fearsome to the society. But, when he touched the young Rama Shastri, he had motherly love and kindness. He was kindness incarnate. This is a far cry from what the society thought of him (as a drunkard, womanizer and a mad man). Society gave him fears and Babaji removed his fears. Another sign of our tradition! General society often condition minds. It sows seeds of fears. A true guru removes all fears and instills faith and devotion instead. This was the transformation that Rama Shastri experienced. Inner purity was all that mattered for the blessings to flow.

Later years proved the selflessness of Rama Shastri and Babaji came back to bless him as Atmananda. And he was also blessed with the recognition of the familiar fragrance. There are many occasions in life where mind does not permit recognition when the action takes place. This takes grace. And Rama had sufficient grace to have this recognition. It takes deep devotion and clear and clean inner space. The rest is grace.

His all actions are purpose bound, just like his words. There is nothing wasted, even a breath.
His all actions are purpose bound, just like his words. There is nothing wasted, even a breath.

Atmananda is unassuming, ordinary to public eyes, but extra ordinary to those who have uncontaminated inner space. This is typical of any Datta Guru. He has amazing siddhis, but will never display them for his benefit or to create an impression. His all actions are purpose bound, just like his words. There is nothing wasted, even a breath. This is a golden lesson for life. Waste nothing in life, everything is precious and god given. There is absolute clarity in thoughts, words and action. But, never interferes in karmic flow of others. Again, this is typical of our tradition. Every words or actions of his have multiple purposes. His visit to the place where we see him in this story has two or three different reasons. Panduranga’s fulfillment, death, Rama Shastri’s fulfillment, Aruna’s education, clearing karmic debts as well as promises etc. What we can perceive with our limited understanding is just the tip of the iceberg of the reality on which great saints operate. A great eye opener indeed!

Inner purity is all that matters for the blessings to flow.

The Shopkeeper’s uncle represented mindset of those people who look at life in a superficial way, they judge people immediately based on outward appearances and habits. They never care to go beyond the deceptive outward appearances sometimes taken by Higher Entities to distract people. They lose heavily in life.

The shopkeeper’s mother portrayed a mentality of a meek housewife who is neutral, influenced by both positivity and negativity time and again, a regular person full of fears. She is a typical housewife who has no voice of her own and is always afraid to leave her comfort zone, even if it costs the ultimate truth. Her conforming nature to the approved norms of the society despite evidences of truth otherwise.

The other lesson we can learn is that NEVER judge a Master from a worldly point of view and through other peoples opinion. Always listen to your heart and your own truth. Other’s words could be terribly deceptive.
