Day 161 – Refocus and Refresh our Destination

The past few days here in Slovenia have been very busy and also exciting. Yesterday, I was traveling to look at materials for the land. We’re setting up the boundaries around the space that we have. We were searching for good wood, which we can use to create fencing. Right now, we’re repairing the space. It has also been really lovely to meet local people who are connected to the activities here via Devi and the meditations that are taking place. They’re all really enthusiastic about the project, very friendly and helpful. It’s a real blessing to have their support.

Something that we were talking about at this time, because of COVID, was the need to adapt and refocus according to the changing situations. Some of these guys with whom we are now working also have their projects, but because of COVID, it’s extremely unpredictable, but they’ve also enjoyed Mohanji’s message, which is: What we can do today, we should do today, because we don’t know what tomorrow will bring, so take steps. This is generally aligned with the main theme of this year about flexibility, which is what he said everybody can benefit from in these times.

The other day when I was speaking with Mohanji, about some of the activities, he mentioned that at times in life, in big situations and small situations, there comes a need to refocus and refresh our own destination. We may have had a clear destination set out to begin with, but as we move towards it, sometimes we will encounter detours, distractions, diversions, or situations and environments will change. That need to refocus and refresh the destination is very important.

The good thing about being with Mohanji is that he always provides clarity and he always has a clear focus, which minimizes the detours, wherever possible. Now I’m really following and embracing this, but from time to time, I also look at my individual activities within the office as well and arrange myself so that I can bring focus back to them, as many of them are happening in parallel. I’m finding that it’s always good to be able to reassess and refresh the destination based on the situation now. This includes my own personal goals. If I look back at my life, there were probably some key moments where I had extreme clarity and focus, but then for some reason, whatever it was, over time, I took many detours and diversions.

One of the most clear times for me was upon leaving university. I had a very clear picture of what I wanted to be doing work-wise, what I thought I could do, but at that time, I also really wanted to be doing something that contributed positively towards the world, but through lifestyle, time, situations, and events, I took many detours and distractions from that aspect – doing something for the world. That part of my dream lost focus somewhat. Now with the work in the platforms, I’ve been able to refresh that destination and Mohanji has definitely helped bring more focus and clarity to the contributions that I can make.

Day 162 – Slovenia land visit (Mohanji Peace Centre)

Yesterday, I visited the land in Slovenia with Mohanji. This is a location for the Mohanji Peace Center, which will become one of the centers of benevolence, which will come up all across the world. I’ve shared before that the vision for these is very distinct. They will be real messages to the world for all that we stand for – living in harmony with nature. There’ll be a place where all the practices will be available, there’ll be halls, places to stay, there’ll be the forest with all the rishis and munis, there will be places for meditation, and we’ll have the lake for all the beings of the water. Here, on this land, we should even be able to build a cave into the ground where there’ll be an idol of Babaji, and people can sit in there and practice Kriya. It’ll generally just be a beautiful space for peace and coming together.

A few days back, we had the surveyor come to the land, to establish the exact boundaries of the site. This is so that we know exactly where we are before we begin fencing the land. We had come to check this after they’d done the work, and I also believe that Mohanji wanted to come here to energize the land. I’ve been with him in India before when we went to Ganeshpuri, and he did that then too, he walked on the land. At that time, it resulted in his foot swelling up as if he cleared something from the land that had come to his foot. As we set off from the apartment, there were heavy, grey skies and soon enough, as we began to get closer to the land, there was a downpour of rain; it was actually so bad that it was difficult to see the road with the windscreen wipers going, it was that heavy. The rain eased somewhat as we reached the site, and surprisingly, or not surprisingly, when he stepped out of the car onto the land, the clouds began to clear and the sun broke through and quickly cleared into very warm, bright sunshine.

First, we stood on the edge of the land at the hilltop and I pointed out where we’d marked out the new border, took in the ambiance, looking out to the site from the top, and just had a moment just to see how this year’s new green or new growth was coming through onto the trees. Mohanji has been meticulous with the activities of the land. I think many would be surprised by the level of detail that he keeps track of. He supervises closely, and those exact boundaries were an important topic for a few weeks, so as to avoid any complications in the future.

We walked around the top of the site, past the old buildings and also where we installed one of the bird feeders. We also checked one of the buildings there that has potential for renovation. As we walked, he asked me, “Did you notice a change in the weather?” I had, and I smiled to myself because there’d been a complete change from dark rain clouds to clear skies and bright sun. I’ve experienced it sometimes before when the weather surprisingly changed in his presence, although Mohanji obviously didn’t outwardly say anything.

For me, it’s exciting to be there, because as there’s movement happening, all these activities are coming together. It means that we’re not far away from having a physical space where programs can be hosted and events can be had. It’s a space that can be open all year for people to come, with beautiful peaceful surroundings, and obviously, Mohanji will be there too.

On the way back there was another example of how he takes a close, detailed account of things that you wouldn’t even think of. He asked me if I knew the distance from the center of the land, the land itself, to the house. I didn’t, so I said, “I’m not sure.” He said, “Okay, well let’s go back, we’ll drive back and we’ll check. I’d like to know.” I drove back and we reset the distance clock on the car. I was surprised that he was checking each bit of detail. How far we were to the edge of the land, the nearest house, how close we were to the main road, then to the village and the home. It’s really quite amazing, the level of detail that he takes into account.

So, soon, we’re hoping this year to have something ready where we can begin hosting the first programs.

Day 95 Lesson – Set in place what you need to today

Good morning everybody. I hope you’re doing well.

Yesterday was the beginning of the annual Global Summit. (Date was the 14th of February 2021, if this is being listened to later) All the heads of Mohanji platforms, all the individual teams within the Mohanji Foundation – such as the Kriya team, the Sadhana team, and all individual country teams come together in this unifying event. All shared the activities that were completed last year and set the focus, the goals, the orientation, and the objectives for the coming year.

Madhusudan, the CEO of Mohanji Foundation, introduced the day, kicked off the summit (which will last for a few days), set the format, and gave a great overview of the plans for the year. He spoke about our spaces, the Centers of Benevolence (which are coming up), the land in Ganeshpuri – what is happening there, plans, and the intentions of all the elements to be put in place. I’ve shared some of those before., but these will be messages to the world of living in harmony with nature, a safe space where people can come and take part in their practices.

The land in Ganeshpuri is by the river, so there will be bathing Ghats going down to the river. There’ll be a Shiva Linga probably installed for people to worship. There’ll also be a forest with all the animals, beings and the 27 trees associated with 27 stars that are aligned to everybody. (Everybody is connected to a particular tree, animal and bird). When you offer to that tree, it helps your life as well as your lineage.

So, aspects like that will be included in these spaces, locations for practices – such as caves for meditations, halls for yoga, satsangs, and meditations, and a place where food will be served 24/7. It is quite exciting to listen to the progress being made there.

Mohanji reiterated that we can always be looking to do more; what more can we do today to reach the hearts of more people. He reminded us that we have this one life; let’s use our time well, be effective, and live a fulfilling life. This is the theme I wanted to speak about today because Mohanji also had a conversation on the same subject this morning with a close friend (who’s in business and has many plans for the future and various business opportunities coming up).

Mohanji always supports and encourages people, especially if they’re making a living, supporting themselves, and giving stability to others. Mohanji asked him an interesting question; he asked, “This is all good, but how much time do you have on Earth?”

I think that’s quite an impactful question. Whilst, I’ve learned from Mohanji that we should make the most of our time each day, today, there was a new dimension of how Mohanji sees his life. He is always waking up with the question, “What more he can I do?” As we spoke more, he said that he’s very realistic about life – about the reality of life. For example, say he lives maybe up until 80 years, from where he is now that’s probably only 7000 days left. So for him in that respect, each day matters, and each hour probably matters as well.

Mohanji also adds that what’s possible today might not be possible tomorrow. We can’t guarantee that the environment will be the same; we can’t guarantee that the health will be the same. For Mohanji, it’s a hardcore reality that today is the day. Whatever needs to be set and put in place should happen when it can be. Delays can happen; there are things that you can’t control. But putting steps, completing what needs to be done, and setting what needs to be done today, is something which he was reiterating. There’s no time to waste!

What arose for me from that message was not just doing the activity, because he also asked the question, “Are you satisfied? Is there contentment in the activity?” I think that’s important learning, which I’m finding too. More than just doing an activity and taking steps to move things forward, am I also putting what needs to be done in place today? Ask (ourselves) if there is satisfaction, contentment and fulfilment in every activity.

I’m learning that as important as the activity is, it is also the attitude that matters. It is important to set an attitude in place each day because if there’s criticizing, complaining, judging, being angry, frustrations, it’s probably not worth it. With every day being important, there’s no time to waste. There’s also no reason for activity and life not to be fulfilling. It was another depth to his message to use time well, not to waste any time and to be extraordinarily realistic, that today is the only moment that we have, so to set in place whatever we need to today.

Yesterday was another example of how quickly Mohanji works and how swiftly he puts things in place. We had a request for a call with Mohanji from some doctors, introduced by a friend, and they wanted to contribute towards some of the activities. So late last evening, after the event was over, I arranged the call. They had a good talk. It was in Malayalam, so I couldn’t understand much. After it finished, Mohanji just asked me to put them in touch with one of the ladies, Savithri, running the animal care activities in Shirdi.

I shared the number and connection, and they had a phone call/conversation within minutes. It all happened in the space of 20 minutes. What transpired in that 20 minutes is that – they had been looking for a doctor or a series of doctors for a long time in Shirdi (they desperately needed them). It so happened that these were the exact type of doctors they needed; thus, they came together and made an agreement within 20 minutes. It was organized in such a way that what they had been looking for, for some time, came about. Mohanji put it in motion and set it in place.

I hope you have a great day ahead and will speak to you all soon.

Day 96 Lesson – Being there for people

Good morning everybody. I hope you’re doing well.

This year’s theme for 2021 is flexibility, stability, and friendship. I thought today it would be good to share a conversation I had with Mohanji yesterday morning. For me, it summed up very nicely, a lesson that I’ve learned since being with Mohanji, which is we can always be there for people, and we can always stand by people. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that we have to take on everything they’re going through, their situations, problems, or troubles. We can keep a nice healthy boundary so that we’re still there for them, but we don’t take on all their trash too.

I found that this in the past, and even now, is important for my stability because I’d become very involved in someone else’s troubles trying to help, especially if we want to look out for people and help them. I thought this was a good message to share and something that can bring stability and help build great friendships.

These aren’t the exact words, but this was the general message. Mohanji said that sometimes in life, we really won’t know the value of something until it’s gone, and once it’s lost, we regret it. Like everything in our lives, there’s a formation stage, an appearance stage, and then a dissolution stage. For every event in life, there’s a history, a cause, which can be internal or external.

Internal comes from what we’ve collected over lifetimes, and through this life, maybe like prejudices, bad memories, hatreds. External can be something like, if we didn’t like the first impression of someone, then we take that, and it can cause us to take on something and a situation to occur later.

When we think that every situation has its cause and it’s probably personal to the person as well, whether internal or external, we can recognize then that every situation and everybody is unique. So, it’s quite impossible to know the true cause of a situation somebody is going through.

I shared this message with the help desk and the engagement team, who deal with people daily. It’s important that when we speak with people and counsel them, the utmost that we could probably do is to strengthen them. For those suffering, we can strengthen that side, and that’s probably only a real possibility sometimes.

When somebody says there’s a problem or a situation, what can we really do? We’ll never know the full reality of how that occurred, or we don’t know the cause. Hence, the most practical thing is probably to stand in solidarity with that person. What’s good about that is we don’t have to accept their version of a situation or problem or trouble. That’s theirs to take. We don’t have the whole picture, but what we can say is, “Okay, this has happened. And I’m here, and we can walk together now.” Thus, we don’t have to let people put all the burden onto us, but we can stand, strengthen and stabilize.

Mohanji also said at the end of the conversation that the easiest way to solve a problem, especially relationship problems, is by loving and letting go of the past, accepting weaknesses, forgiving and forgetting. Nobody is perfect, and we can’t truly love another unless we accept all imperfections.

That was a nice message which he gave yesterday morning. I hope you have a great day ahead, and I shall speak to you soon.

Lessons living with Mohanji – Days 55 and 56

by Christopher Greenwood

Day 55 Lesson – There are no problems, only situations

Good morning, everybody; I hope you’re doing well.

We’re already well into January and the days seem to be going quickly. Each year, there’s a theme used for quotes with a general focus for all the people connected to Mohanji. For this year, 2021, Mohanji provided some guidance for the theme of the year, which is flexibility, stability, and friendship, which I think is apt.

Flexibility, as we are in very unpredictable times, we don’t know what will happen in the future; having that quality of flexibility will give us a good footing to handle anything that comes and even learn new skills.

Stability is important, as it’s just like when the air stewardess tells us to put on an oxygen mask first before putting it on somebody else. Our own stability is important for being able to be there for others, be stable for others and help them.

Friendship, at this time, is developing connections, deepening friendships, practising kindness.

I was thinking about these this morning and was reminded of how Mohanji approaches situations of life, how he handles all the various troubles, queries, problems, and events that come to him. There are so many of them each day, as often things don’t go on as planned, which means there has to be action, or corrective measures, or things like this because we have a huge organization, which he’s guiding and steering.

I’ve always found that Mohanji is really very cool in these situations. Whatever comes, he’ll take it on its merits, and he’ll handle it however best it needs to be handled – with minimal fuss or fanfare.

I asked him about this one day; how does he manage to do this? He summed it up succinctly, which I think I want to build on today: there are no problems in life. There are only situations, and problems only exist in the mind.  This simple yet profound thought is worth contemplating for many of us; I definitely, as earlier I used to think I have a lot of problems in life.

The statement, “There are no problems in life, there are only situations; problems only exist in mind”, gives so much freedom. When I heard that, I intuitively knew that I’m looking at things maybe in a different way than what I could do. This was a very powerful orientation for me because often, I would get caught up in the middle of my mind’s mess with all the perceived problems that I thought existed.

For example, if I plan to complete some work, or if I had entrusted it to somebody else and it didn’t come back in time, or there was a delay, or it wasn’t quite right, or something else happened which would stop what I wanted to happen, or planned to happen; my mind would jump to a narrative of – “This is a problem. How could this happen? Why is this the case?” All these types of questions would gush forth.

This type of thinking was doing nothing to really help and what I understood from Mohanji’s words is that life will always present us with situations, and sometimes why they happen; we don’t even know. There’ll be a cause, but we might not be aware of it at that time.

But the fact is, something comes to us as a situation, and my ability to respond to the situation will decide if it’s a problem or not. For example, if I thought I completed what I needed to do for the day and was about to relax, and something urgent arrived. If I’m constantly thinking about my expectation of what I’d be doing next, relaxing over doing what needed to be done, then I’m creating a problem for myself.

So now I’m learning to approach life like this, that there are only situations. What comes to me, and what comes to us, we handle it as it is. I now look at the whole situation (width, breadth, height – in totality) to see what can be done with what’s available and have found the intensity of the events reduces, bringing stability. I know now that if there’s a situation, then there will also be a solution. I don’t need to create more disturbances in my mind and problems because of that. The result is there’s more calmness, or reduced intensity, and clarity. I can better see the situation for what it is; hence I’m not pushed into automatic ways of responding (as I’d usually do).

You can objectively look at the situation, assess it, think about it, and often, the solution will automatically present itself. At times the solution can also be something novel or unique, something I would never have normally thought of, which also brings in that element of flexibility.

This is something I’m continuing to learn, that when I avoid turning life situations into problems, I’m learning that I’m calmer, stable, and have better decision-making ability.

I hope you have a great day and that you can sail through any of the situations which might come your way. We will speak soon.

Day 56 Lesson – Sincere calls reach Mohanji

Good morning, everybody. I hope you’re doing well.

Mohanji says, “I’m walking with you”. He also says that whenever people need him, he’s there. For some people, this can be difficult to understand, especially if they take Mohanji as the physical form -the nice beard and long hair.

In these times, it’s challenging to speak or meet Mohanji because of the Covid situation and difficulty travelling. Once the Centers of Benevolence are in place, this will be much easier as then Mohanji will be there, and people can visit, but until this is complete, it’s difficult. The priority of his time is given to projects and platforms that are moving activities forward and those that contribute to the vision of raising the world’s collective consciousness.

But what I have experienced myself and what I’ve witnessed is that people do not need to physically meet or speak with Mohanji for him to hear them and for him to respond. If someone has a genuine intention, it reaches him, and Mohanji does his work.

Today, I wanted to talk about how people reach out to Mohanji and how Mohanji also reaches out to them. I did share a few examples of this in today’s voice message. I recognize that these are only small examples, but they give an idea of a much larger dimension to Mohanji, and if we sincerely need him, he hears the call.

Many people have troubles and situations in life and are seeking help. For these issues, Mohanji has empowered Acharyas, who can handle many of the topics across all areas of life. He has also given methods such as the Mai-Tri and Mohanji Transformation Method (MTM), which benefit people’s lives, and people are getting great results too, but I understand that for some people, this still can’t replace physically meeting or speaking with him.

Having lived close to Mohanji now, I have developed some limited awareness of how he operates. I think we miss a huge dimension of Mohanji if we think we need to see him or speak to him physically, and I’ll give some examples for that.

One of them happened a few months ago. I was working to build the vision for one of the platforms. I was working on activities and ideas, and it was going well. But I was getting stuck in my thoughts for some reason. I couldn’t quite grasp a way to align what I was putting down with my thinking and how practically to make it happen.

It was at that time I heard Mohanji call “Greenwood”, which is always a bit of a startle, so I went to his room where he called me. He said, “I want to talk to you about the vision for this platform”, and so I replied to him, “Oh! This is funny; I was just actually working on that.” He quite plainly said, “I know, that’s why I called you here because it was all over the place.” We spoke more about the vision, and he gave me clarity and some good direction.

I was in a completely separate room, and I hadn’t told him what I’d be working on that day, and this incident showed me that in times of confusion, he can be there.

Even though he has always said before that he doesn’t read people’s thoughts (and of course, he doesn’t want to read them because it’s all full of trash), I have a feeling that he senses things when they’re out of alignment, and he then corrects.

Similarly, in another situation, I had received an email from a lady wanting to speak to Mohanji. She had some real trouble in her life and wanted some assistance. Usually, what I do is I set aside some time in the day – once a day to check emails (usually towards the end of the day) so that I just have that specific time to focus and reply. It so happened that I received this email, and it said that they were in some distress or confusion, or something like this; subsequently, there was another email from them a few hours later. In the first email, they had written, “I’m confused. I need some help. I’d like to speak to Mohanji”, and then the next email said, “Thank you so much. Mohanji has really helped me. I’m incredibly grateful.”

I hadn’t even seen the first email; I hadn’t even looked at it, or responded to it, or taken it to Mohanji. But clearly, Mohanji must have done something and did what he needed to. So this was another small confirmation.

Some of these small things have become so normal that my first reaction in that situation was, “Oh great, that’s one less email I need to respond to”, rather than being excited about the small miracle that I just witnessed. I spoke to Mohanji about this too, and he just shared how he worked, which I’ll say at the end of this message.

Another time, a few months ago, in one of the morning sessions when I went in to see Mohanji, he asked me if it was one of our Acharyas birthdays. Mohanji has a close connection with all our Acharyas.

I was surprised because normally, he doesn’t ask about specific people’s birthdays. I’ve never heard him ask that, so I was a bit taken aback and also I didn’t know, because the way we’ve set up now in the team is that all the cards and all the dates are all known by the team members, and then the cards get produced, and they get sent out. I don’t see this unless there’s a need to.

Anyway, I just straight away responded to this and asked, “If it is, then should we record a voice message?” and he said, “Yeah, let’s do it.” We took out the microphone, recorded Mohanji’s message, and sent it to the Acharya.

This Acharya was completely shocked. Completely, because the person had been praying intensely, from the bottom of the heart, and said all he/she really longed for, on that birthday, was a message from Mohanji. And it came. The person was incredibly surprised.

So this again was a confirmation for me that people are reaching Mohanji, and he’s responding to them, even if they are not physically seeing him and speaking with him.

Now, please, please don’t start praying from the bottom of your heart for more birthday messages because the mornings here are already busy enough for me. So please be nice. I’m joking. :))

The main lesson for me that I’ve learned since being here, and what I’ve witnessed with others as well, is that if we think we need to meet Mohanji, or speak with him physically, I think we’re missing something that’s much, much bigger, a completely different dimension. I know from the testimonials team as well that there are many countless testimonials to this effect.

I’ve asked him as well; he has said that these things reach him. So when there’s the real pure intention, when it’s coming from a genuine heartfelt connection or a real need of assistance, and people are calling him from the heart, then he hears it. It reaches him, and he does what he can. As he says, he’s always there.

I hope you enjoyed this and have a great day ahead.

Lessons living with Mohanji – Days 51 & 52

By Christopher Greenwood

Day 51 lesson – Less talk, more action

I’ve shared a few times now Mohanji’s morning routine; so before Mohanji’s breakfast early morning, we discuss the schedule for the day, and also for the coming weeks; discuss what has been happening across the platforms – if there’s anything specific to know, and any feedback. Most of the time, when I go to his room in the morning, Mohanji would already be at his table working – checking on messages or what’s happening across all the platforms.

Yesterday, Mohanji had spoken to all the teens (part of the EBC council), which was live on Facebook. He gave great advice inspiring the teens and related some of his own stories as well. Today, he checked the recent Early Birds Club Teens video, looking at the views and the comments to get a sense of the feedback.

From time to time, Mohanji checks the YouTube channels, especially if there’s been a major video out for Christmas, or New Year, or Datta Jayanti, to see how they are performing and the comments posted. He also watches some live shows across the various official Mohanji Facebook pages or checks in on the Satsangs happening. I’m always amazed at how he manages to stay aware of everything because he’s also doing many other things at the same time. Mostly, Mohanji has an overview and a general sense of what’s happening across all of the platforms.

For me, this is something really to learn from because it shows his style very clearly. Mohanji is very hands-on. Everything that he has shared (everything which I’ve shared in all of these recordings, too) is based on what he does; it’s not him just theorizing or giving someone advice but being completely involved and committed, and that itself is very inspirational.

We all know and have experienced that Mohanji does much more than he speaks, and this is very important for me, because although Mohanji could be working in various dimensions or various planes, which I can’t actually see, but what I can see, what is real for me, what is real right now is what’s available in front of my eyes. When I look at the dashboard, it’s looking across all those platforms that exist in the world and recognizing that it is something tangible – they are having a real impact on people’s lives for the better.

Mohanji isn’t just talking about compassion, kindness, and raising the awareness of humanity. He’s demonstrating it. He’s doing it because all of the platforms he has established have their own clarity, vision, distinction, and relevance in the world. We have Ammucare, ACT Foundation, Act4Hunger, and Mohanji Foundations across all the countries and continents, World Consciousness Alliance, the Early Birds Club, Invest in Awareness, Mohanji Youth Club etc. As I observe his style, it’s very much all about delivery; doing and bringing the messages which he shares into a physical reality.

The Centres of Benevolence which are coming up soon – a major milestone, will be a very big message, encompassing all the aspects of nature and tradition. There will be harmonious living with animals, nature, and so many other dimensions of that space. There’ll be many such centres across the world also, so many more people will benefit. Each of the platforms too will serve future generations. How much? We don’t know because that really depends on all of us, actually, what we’re able to achieve within our lifetime, what contribution we can make today and tomorrow, and what mark we can leave on the world.

Taking what Mohanji is doing; doing more than speaking is something that will help with this. Mohanji admires and likes the same qualities in other people too. Many people come to him with great ideas and suggestions, and some of them are amazing, but there’s a huge difference between having the idea and implementing it. He prefers being action-oriented because that’s what benefits people’s lives when there’s less talk and more doing.

I’ve also learned this from Mohanji because I often would have my ideas in the early times when I was here – it’s almost like I had some settling period. He was very patient with me and listened to my ideas. As the dynamics of the relationship changed, our communication became frank and direct. So now, before I even consider sharing an idea with him, I already automatically know that the response is going to be, “Just get it moving; we have no time to waste”. If I do take any thought to Mohanji, I also have a plan and clear intention to bring it to reality. The by-product of this – a marked boost to my confidence and self-inspiration.

From his office as well, he wants less talk and more action. So personally, just from an experience of working that way, the benefits that have come, which I can share are, that it helps give one a sense of self-motivation, autonomy, and confidence. There’s an inner sense of satisfaction when an activity has come to fruition or an idea has been actualized.

Even if the idea or plan is not perfect, there’s some movement, and you can actually see that either it brings a change in people’s lives or if not in people’s lives, then at least in some situations; maybe it makes things a little bit more efficient or smoother, but it is at least progress, and this gives one the motivation.

Also, as that idea has moved, I found that it’s no longer just stuck in the mind, which means it’s done, and this creates more space for extra creativity, generating momentum for new ideas to flow.

I hope you enjoyed the message this morning. Very simply put, if I was to condense, that is less talking and more action. This is Mohanji’s inimitable style of working.

Day 52 lesson – An observation on purity

Today, I wanted to share with you more of an observation than an actual lesson from our badminton games. It’s come from the fact that we’re now back playing badminton on the court, which is fantastic, getting that movement again. As I’ve mentioned before, Mohanji really enjoys a good game of badminton, and when he’s playing, he’s playing to win. He’s fully involved in whatever he does. There are no half measures, as we’d say in the UK. Mohanji and Ananth form one team, and they’re a good team; then it’s myself and Rajesh, the other team – the regular losing team. But we don’t give up; we keep going.

Mohanji has only recently begun walking again fully because up until now, his foot had been injured. It’s only just healed; despite that, he still plays well. This is something that Mohanji’s mum, Amma, finds really amusing. She finds it hilarious that each time Rajesh and I are losing the game. She still can’t believe that Mohanji is beating (winning against) Rajesh and me. She always asks, “How can an almost crippled 50-year-old plus defeat these younger and more reasonably athletic guys?” She can’t believe it, and she finds it very funny; somewhere, she thinks we’re letting him win, but sadly we’re not.

After an active and sweaty game yesterday, we were speaking in Mohanji’s room, and he was getting ready to take a shower; and I noticed that he had been wearing the same vest top for probably 4 of the past games. I change my top each time because otherwise, it’d smell. But Mohanji’s top smelt good, fragrant; there’s a distinct pleasant smell like it had already been washed. I mean, could you imagine your own sports top worn days in a row? It probably would be smelling awful. I asked him about this. How is it possible?

He smiled. Then I asked a bit more. Mohanji replied that the more contaminated we are, it reflects in our body; our body will reflect what’s inside. Whether there’s food contamination, emotional contamination, or any other contamination, it will display itself through our bodies. On the flip side, the more innocence there is, this will also reflect. This I’m taking to be his reflection on that fragrant smell. For me, it’s clear purity that’s been displayed.

This was something interesting which caught my attention, and I wanted to share that observation. I’m sure there’s probably something more in it, which will unfold for me with time.

Lessons Living with Mohanji – Days 31 & 32

by Christopher Greenwood

Day 31 Lesson – More than the eyes can see

Good morning, everybody! I hope you’re doing very well.

Yesterday, I shared a lesson from the badminton court, along with a couple of photographs, and I hope you enjoyed those. I was thinking how much fun it’s been to play against Mohanji. At first, it was fairly intimidating. But now, we’ve got a good doubles rhythm when we play, and it’s good exercise. It breaks the day, and it’s also really fun.

As I recalled those times, it brought back a memory, which was another reminder that there’s more to Mohanji than we can physically see. I’ve spoken about this before, that He’s active in many more ways than we can perceive. Personally, being here spending a lot of time is an incredibly good reminder because otherwise, the situation can become familiar. I wouldn’t want to say that I take anything for granted, definitely not. But day in, day out, when I’m seeing Mohanji, there can definitely be the lack of alertness that was there when I first arrived as everything was new. Because now there’s work to do; there’s a routine; there’s a pattern; there’s a method, and so some habits and patterns have developed.

It reminded me of the badminton game because there was a similar situation to the one that I’d shared before in one of my previous recordings. This was where I spoke about the situation where I was speaking with Mohanji; we were having a conversation in the morning, and he suddenly stopped mid-conversation. We’ve been speaking about plans for the early version of Invest in Awareness corporate program. And he stopped; he stood up, walked a few paces, and knelt. Then He took several press-ups, then again stood, and went back to his chair and calmly sat back down. When I asked him what happened, he said that he was responding to somebody’s call for help. He was bringing someone back to life. At the time, I was very confused, but I thought, okay, sometimes these things I can’t understand. But later that day, the event was actually confirmed when somebody called to say that their father had survived in hospital.

Once on the badminton court, there was another situation while we were playing badminton. It was a typical game; Rajesh and I were trying our hardest to win the game. Mohanji had his position on the court; his technique of smashing was doing really well, and Ananth was playing well too. It was an intense game backwards and forwards; everybody played with full commitment and played many games. But during one of the games, I think it must have been the last one; Mohanji just casually said that somebody’s mother is leaving between one of the rallies. As simple as that, “someone’s mother is leaving.” He said that someone’s mother was leaving their body that she was dying. It was very matter of fact, and he just went back to playing; we continued to play for the remainder of the game.

Afterwards, I had to ask what he meant because I don’t even think he meant to say it out loud but he said that he was communicating with her. That amazed me; we were playing our hardest to gain points and win the game, and I thought I was putting in some great effort while at the same time Mohanji was playing, but he was also elsewhere.

When we got back to the house a few hours later, the message came that someone’s mother had passed away. So for me, it’s still somewhat a mystery that what Mohanji is handling beyond is what I can see. There’s more beyond the usual events, but I enjoy and appreciate that there’s almost a completion to it because it comes with a confirmation. For me personally, I can have and witness that full experience. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does, there’s always a confirmation that clarifies that I don’t have to blindly believe this because there’s something there that confirms what I see in front of my eyes.

Thank you for listening today. And I hope you have a great day ahead.

Day 32 Lesson – Mohanji’s activities tangibly express his teachings

Good morning, everybody! I hope you’re doing really well!

Since spending time with Mohanji, I have witnessed that Mohanji does not just talk about his teachings. He lives them. Tangibly!! It’s only through my extra time working closely across each platform, namely – Mohanji Foundation, Ammcuare, Early Birds Club or the Mohanji Home for Seniors, and through conversations, I can see more clearly, that everything he has delivered is a message to the world of what he stands for.

This morning, I was speaking to Mohanji, and he elaborated on some of the ideas and vision for the Centers of Benevolence. When I speak with Mohanji in the morning, I usually have a list of the items I’d like to discuss with him about what’s pending. But depending on the day or the need of the time, Mohanji will often speak spontaneously as thoughts come to him. He said to me earlier that he just flows, so as per the need, what is important, he’ll speak.

So if I’m sitting in front of him, I should make sure then that it reaches the right person. We were talking about the various locations across the world for the Centers of Benevolence and the vision that they should reach every continent; every country; every city, so that there’s a space; our own space. These would be living signatures for the Teachings of the Tradition, welcoming all people; everybody is welcome. Ensuring everyone who comes is fed well with vegan food and the fact that it’s purely vegan will be the message of non-violence and that all life has the right to live.

When there’s outdoor space, all animals will coexist in the ground, and they’ll roam free. Then all the five elements are captured in the space too. They’ll have the fire with the Homas, also the water bodies – the rivers and lakes, and earth space. All the practices will be there: the meditations and the teachings of the path of liberation – all will be available. It will be a message to the world portraying what we stand for and how we can use our capacities or intellect abilities as humans for selfless work and for attaining the highest.

The more time that I’ve spent with Mohanji, I realize that what he speaks, what he shares, and his teachings, he’s practically and tangibly putting these into place through all the platforms. All of them speak a message to the world.

I was thinking about this and all the initiatives that have been founded when the Mohanji Home for Seniors came to my mind – which has been set up to feed, give medical attention and help the elderly. This came to my mind because when I sent out the feedback form to everybody for these talks, someone replied by asking the question, “Why are parents so important in our life?”

I feel that that’s a great example, the Home for Seniors because it’s Mohanji practically tangibly representing why it’s important to look after the elderly, look after our parents. The story of how this came about was when Mohanji visited Tiruvannamalai with a group of people for conducting a Retreat and Satsang. It’s a famous place of pilgrimage, because of the Arunachala Mountain, and many people go there.

I’ve heard that people go there along with the elderly parents, and they simply leave them, which is quite sad.

Some of the abandoned ones have poor health conditions, problems and are lonely, confused, and even wait for their children to come back. They think they’ll come back for them, but the children don’t.

There’s a Home that is looking after the abandoned parents, and Mohanji with the group visited the Home to serve them food. Last year, the local municipality gave the people living in the Home (building) eviction notice, rendering them homeless. That was the seed. I think one person, in particular, wanted to start something; Mohanji supported it, and now we have the Mohanji Home for Seniors. Thus the land was bought, and construction is now on the way.

Mohanji has spoken before that we have a dharmic duty to our parents because it’s they who brought us into this world. He said that when we first take birth, before a soul comes into the body, there’s prana which represents our lineage or lineage karma. He explained that when we have a body, actually, the body is a property of the lineage. Our parents are a living representation of our lineage. Our parents represent that, so we have a duty towards them. Especially, a mother who carried us through nine months of pregnancy knows us longer than anybody else. Thus I learnt from Mohanji that this is another reason why we must respect and look after our parents. There’s a Dharmic duty behind it. And this is exactly what he does as well. He’s brought his parents closer to him now in their age so that they have this space; they are given respect. Everything that can be done is done to make them comfortable.

In modern times, some people treat parents as an inconvenience, quick to discard them or put them into a home. Hence, I am reiterating what I’ve learned from Mohanji that there’s a duty there actually about what we need to do. The Mohanji Home for Seniors is a standing example of this filial duty – by looking after them, respecting, caring, and giving them the dignity that they deserve.

I’ve also heard people ask, “What can I do?” Now I know that I have a dynamic duty, “What can I do if I don’t get on with my parents; if we fight or we argue?” For this, Mohanji said, “You can do what you can. The first is discussion, to see if anything can be resolved. Maybe that’s not possible; maybe you don’t have to live together; maybe it’s possible that you can support them if they’re in a different home. You can find a way to give them assistance with the chores. If the relationship is completely gone, and it’s not possible to get on with them, you can fulfill that duty by serving people of a similar demographic in society. You serve the elderly; the abandoned, participate in charity activities, events; donate to causes that support them. This way, we still do our duty.”

So this is one example of the many tangible activities Mohanji is doing in the world expressing his message and his teachings.

I hope you enjoyed it and we will speak very soon.

Lessons Living with Mohanji – Day 10

Day 10 Lesson – Importance of Vision & Mohanji Temples of Benevolence

by Christopher Greenwood

Yesterday when we were looking at the platform dashboard that I shared a few days ago, Mohanji reminded me of the importance of having a clear vision because, without it, we lack direction. He said that if we want to achieve something in life or to carve our place in the world, we must have a vision. And this needs to come with goals and timelines.

He then said that probably people don’t know of his vision, especially for the temples and the centers of benevolence. It is a grand vision, and I share the high-level picture today.

Good morning. I hope this message reaches you well. Today, I wanted to share with you a conversation I had with Mohanji about his vision. This came from a discussion that one needs to have a vision, goals, and a timeline if one wants to achieve anything in life. Having a vision is crucial, he was saying, because you’re essentially fumbling in the dark, walking around, or bumping into walls without it. So a vision gives you the destination, which makes it much easier to carve a road ahead.

And this discussion came from looking at the dashboard to see where we could strengthen the vision. So the vision is very important: what does that end result look like? How does it feel? How are people interacting? What are people saying? How does it smell, taste, touch, and who is benefited? So anything can be included in a vision. And the clearer the picture, the easier it is to reach that.

I think Mohanji said that we might not reach the exact destination, which is where flexibility becomes important. But at least if we have somewhere that we’re aiming for, we’ll roughly get there, and we can always adjust it.

He then said that he’s not even sure that people know his vision at the moment. So he then shared his vision for the temples and the centers of benevolence, which is really exciting. And I want to share that vision with you now. The 23rd of October was a game-changer for the Mohanji foundation activities – a really big day for those who don’t know. That day, Mohanji registered 15 acres of land in Ganeshpuri. It was a Herculean effort to get this done in the pandemic situation with Madhu and Bharath and the rest of the team. And everything went incredibly smoothly. Even the chief priest from Shirdi made a surprise visit to see Mohanji in Bombay, and he brought him gifts from Shirdi – soil from Shirdi and udi from Shirdi. It was pretty much a blessing from Sai Baba for the activity. The registration itself took maybe 10 minutes in this local small-time registration office. Everybody was surprised because usually the office is packed, and there was no one there but us. It can normally take anything up to four hours, but this happened in just 10 minutes. The placing of the soil from Shirdi and the udi concluded in the last moments of the most auspicious time of the day. So, it was absolute grace.

And this won’t just be a space; it won’t just be an ashram or a temple – it’s going to be a message to the world of the teachings of the Tradition. I want to share that vision with you of what this space will look like. On the grounds, this area itself has one main bank which borders a river and very natural land. So there’ll be a forest area built, and this forest will have 27 types of trees representing the 27 stars in the Vedic teachings that say that everybody is associated with a star. So worshipping a tree with that star connection brings benefits to the person. People will be able to go into the forest, walk around and give offerings. Then there’ll be the rishis and the munis in that forest sitting beneath the trees, alongside Dattatreya. So everything will be in nature. And all the animals will be there; all the small beings such as the rabbits, the mice, the birds, and obviously, the larger beings – all roaming free in nature. So, really a balanced ecology. There’ll be a pond; there’ll be fishes and turtles; there’ll be a river so people can feed animals throughout the location, so everything is in balance. Then there’ll be regular homas conducted, and Mohanji will have his personal dhuni. So the whole space will represent all the elements.

Now the vision for the river that borders the land is to have banks built to stop the flooding; so caves can be made inside them for meditation. And people will be able to book a place, and if they wanted to meditate there even for 24 hours, food would be brought for them. And in one cave would be a space for maybe ten people, and there’ll be an idol of Babaji in the centre. So people can go in there and meditate, do Kriya and anything like that. There’ll be spaces for silence, and people who are observing silence will have a badge that says they are in silence. And the grounds will be zoned very well. On the riverside again, there’ll be ghats which go down to the river where people can take a bath, and a Shiva Linga will also be installed, so people can take water from the river and perform abhishekam.

And from the outside, there’ll be a place where people can access the main temples. So they won’t necessarily need to go into the full compound, but people will be able to come to the temples. There will be Shirdi Sai Baba there, a regular place for the homa, and it will be separate from the main area. And there’ll be a hall, the space for regular yoga activities, meditation, and all of the Mohanji processes. So all the activities will be completely covered for the practices for people’s higher elevation and connection.

Then there’s the benevolence aspect. Food will be available 24/7 with three main meals a day, and outside those times, this really delicious potato-type sandwich (vada-paav), will be served. So nobody leaves there with a hungry belly, and all the food will be vegan, completely vegan. Clothing will also be provided, branded with the temple name, so people can see where they’ve come from. And if possible, there’ll be medical care there too, but that can be more complex to arrange. Regarding education, there will be a space for children with Mohanji Ka Aangan.

And people will be able to stay if they’re passing by, for a maximum of two nights, unless staying for a longer program. For the family members – Mohanji has made this really well because he really wants to respect all those that have contributed consistently to the platforms. So a community card will be launched, and people that have a status on this will have access to accommodation and maybe have preferred access based on their contributions.

So it will be a complete space for stability and higher elevation. Now that will become the standard; a message of what we represent, what the Foundation represents, and what Mohanji represents, and then that will be taken to every corner of the world. So in countries and cities, there’ll be a Temple of Benevolence and where there’s no space for a forest or the temple, it will be a Center of Benevolence. It almost becomes a recognized brand so that no matter where you go in the world, when you see it, you’ll know what you’re getting – there’ll be a standard for the practices and for everything else. For example, when you go anywhere in the world, you know if you go into one of these, you’ll get a great vada-paav.

So this is the vision that he was talking about, which is coming to life now – a grand vision that sounds really exciting. And it’s actually happening now. Work is progressing, planning’s on the way, and more land is coming, and things are moving. It’s all about developing assets at the moment, and there’s a lot of work to do. And, of course, anyone that wants to help is welcome. Have a great day ahead.
