“What’s our tradition? Unconditional love, right? It doesn’t matter who treats us in which way. We will always show our true nature in every circumstance, which is to be unconditional love. If someone asks me for help, I cannot say no. Saying no is not in our tradition, even if it puts me in trouble. It doesn’t matter.”
Four years back to this day (July 12th 2020), Vasudevan Swami, a disciple of Bhagavan Nityananda and a powerful Master of the Nath tradition, took samadhi in Ganeshpuri. Mohanji had the greatest respects for this spiritual powerhouse who hid within a bent, frail, old and very ordinary looking frame. One could easily dismiss him for a weak, old man who didn’t merit a second glance. His unassuming nature and innocence, coupled with an unshakeable faith in his Master, Bhagavan Nityananda, were the hallmarks of his personality. Mohanji considered him a perfect epitome of devotion. He was the priest of the Nath Mandir at Vajreshwari, where Macchindranath and Gorakshanath, the leading lights of the Nav Nath Tradition did intense penance and were blessed by the Goddess to write the book, the Nath Rahasya (The Secrets of the Naths). 20th April 2020. Amidst the fight with the negativity of Corona situation all across the globe, while spreading positivity through various online programmes, shocking news came from the parental home that shook me to the core! News that I had not expected to hear! My 2nd brother Bibhu, succumbed to a sudden cardiac arrest and had left us all forever! He was healthy, happy, joyful and very active. He was just 50 years old.
Mohanji’s 55th birthday was celebrated on February 23, 2020, in Sri Lanka. A group of about 100 devotees from over 15 countries assembled in Kataragama to celebrate. The day began with a visit to the famous Lord Murugan (Karthikeya) temple in Kataragama with the Mohanji family. Mohanji and the group were blessed with a special and sacred ceremony inside the temple.
“I don’t have ownership. Things happen through me. You see, the pain is certainly there, but I’ve got no suffering (from the discomfort). You guys are all struggling because you happily postpone things or your own things. Ownership causes pain while surrendering it or not owning it frees you. Will you postpone anything if you know the next minute you may not exist?”
“You call me and I will be there!” That’s what Mohanji always affirms to his global family. We, with our limited minds, may not fathom the intensity of these words but our experiences help us understand the power of these words. He listens to our every wish with love and fulfills it for us immediately.
Finally, to Mohanji’s devotees and all others who have found their spiritual teacher, power on in faith and surrender, and let no-one shake your conviction.
Mohanji patiently stood near the doorway while each person took a picture with him. Taken by George, the pictures were stunning. The vibrant red of the vest, the bandana, and the cool shades made Mohanji look so amazing. But most of all, the words on the vest, ‘Lifeguard’ was just perfect! The loving Guru, the Eternal Charioteer, the Guardian of our life and soul, was fulfilling yet another loving wish. Thank you dearest Mohanji, for this precious picture that we are all blessed to have.
He gives us everything we need, at the given moment, as per our capacity, without us asking for anything, even though we might not understand at that point.
Sometimes it might not be easy, especially when tough situations happen. But I remain here, despite all the challenges.
It is up to us to use this opportunity in the best possible way.
