My first brush with Mohanji

Mohanji1

By Vesna Misic, Serbia

My beloved ones, this post will be different from the previous ones. Today, I will tell you how I met Mohanji. It was in 2016, in my hometown, Pozarevac (a small town in Serbia). About a year before that, I heard about Mohanji, clicked on his name on the internet without feeling anything special, and that was it. I did not investigate more deeply about who that man was, even after the decision to go to a satsang. I guess it was because I had to be completely unprepared, empty, with no ideas and expectations of him. The very me of that very moment.

mohanji hand

And what was I like at that moment? A 48-year-old woman who had only two things on her mind: one – to raise her child, and two – to raise herself in a spiritual sense. I felt that I did not need a God or a Guru, so I searched on my own with the help of books, workshops and lectures on spiritual topics. At first, God did not agree with that because he ‘had’ me working in a church store. The priest was my school friend and it was the only place where I could earn money as a single mother with a small child who often got ill.

Working in the church, I established a relationship with Jesus in my forties. I consider it one of the most important events in my life. It was completely transformative. However, as a woman from the ‘western world’ and not at all traditional, I was often in situations that caused me resentment, especially because I was directly subordinated to the priest, so I used to say: “For God’s sake, is he a priest, or a pasha?” (Pasha – a government official during the Ottoman Empire. In the Serbian language – by the way, the Serbs were under the Turks for five hundred years – it is a synonym for a man who is powerful, arrogant and authoritative).

If I had researched who Mohanji was, I might have realized that he is a character and a soul I had seen in my regression therapy three years earlier (a fascinating experience, but it didn’t clarify anything to me about my life so far. It just showed me that my soul had been rebellious for centuries and that it did not tolerate authority). If I had researched, the surprise wouldn’t have been complete, nor the story that interesting. I love interesting stories (and our Guru likes to fulfill the wishes of his disciples). If I had researched, I would have found out that Mohanji is the Guru who finds us. Honestly, I did not come to the satsang with Mohanji because of Mohanji. I came, firstly because I regularly followed the events from that area, secondly because I didn’t want to miss an event like this one in my town and, thirdly I expected to meet my ex-lover (in a workshop before this one, I did the technique of untying from him while he was sitting a few rows away from me, but I was not ready to talk to him. I was feeling strong and stable enough to put an end to that story now, with love and peace).

I arrive at the satsang with my sister and the story immediately begins. Perfect setting, fine development of the event activities, gradual introduction of characters, fascinating details! My ex is not here, which is unbelievable, because he would not miss an event like this. But my sister’s and my mutual friend is here and she almost indecently insists that we sit in the third row (my sister and I always sit in the back). There is a huge man who is sitting in front of me and I think that I will not be able to see anything, but, all of a sudden, he moves his body to the side; not the chair, but his body (he was sitting like that the whole time, unnaturally bent to the left). So I have an overview like I’m sitting in the first row. Directly in front of me is an armchair, upholstered in white canvas, placed on a raised podium. Next to it is a table with flowers. I immediately conclude: this is excessive, pompous. Some young women are hovering, checking the podium and the armchair, handing us some cards, with blissful smiles on their faces. I’m looking at the card… Eyes… I don’t feel anything special. In fact, my friend and I are talking as if we are possessed (I don’t have a habit of talking a lot before a workshop. On the contrary! I try to calm down and concentrate).

devi and Mohanji

Devi and Mohanji are coming in. Mohanji steps on the podium and sits in an armchair, wearing a white dress, as if it was a cassock, only white. His snow-white socks catch my eye. “Who keeps his socks so perfectly white?” I wonder in awe, and almost in fear, because I wouldn’t be able to do that if I was to do it for my priest. Devi is standing next to the podium and talks about him and his mission. Devi is standing on the same level as we are and Mohanji is sitting in an upholstered armchair on a raised podium, with his hands on the arms of the chair, somehow he is all spread out, self-satisfied and self-sufficient. He is looking around the hall, scanning us. Those young women are sitting in front of him on the floor, with their legs crossed, looking at him in fascination. I like Devi (except for her huge devotion to her husband); I don’t like Mohanji. What the hell is this? Is he a Guru or a Pasha? (Please forgive me for these words and keep in mind that I do not want to disturb anyone! Quite the opposite! I am just honestly talking about how I experienced it then).

white socks

As Devi is talking about Mohanji’s mission, Mohanji enters into meditation. People are still restless, especially my friend and I, which is really not typical for me, and I wonder why because I follow all the instructions at events of this kind as a hard-working student (well, at that moment I didn’t know that I had never been to a similar event before). I finally manage to calm down and close my eyes. I immediately felt sadness. At first lightly, then stronger as if it took a while to settle itself down. It was climbing up on a scale, and soon enough, it found its right strength and stayed there. I was confused. It was not clear to me what was happening. Why sadness? Well, I often felt that in my meditations, but this sadness was different from all the previous ones. Sadness like: “But, man, where have you been all this time? How could you let yourself be gone for so long? Do you know how terrible it was here without you?” That sadness was quite strong, but somehow timeless, static, all-encompassing, as the very core of the notion of sadness. I started to cry. I felt that he was trying to calm me down as if he was telling me that everything was fine, that it was beautiful we finally met, that I should be happy, but I kept repeating: “Where have you been for so long?”

At moments, rather short ones like flashes, I felt the kind of love I had never felt before. The rest of the time it was like pulling a rope between him and me, a little tug of war in which he fought showing love and I showing sadness. I could feel a strong rush of unconditional love and his smile towards me, and my stubborn, persistent, definite: “But I am very sad.” Then, an even stronger rush of love and a smile that stops at my wall of pain. After four, five bursts that were strong and long, I began to be overwhelmed by incredible love. Then, slowly and carefully, in order not to offend the sadness, love overtook the place of sadness. It was a strange love, never experienced before, all-encompassing, joyful, and bright.

shaktipat-by-mohanji

When I opened my eyes, I was greeted by his wide smile, as if he was smiling at me. With that smile, he said something like: “Don’t be so sad. Up there, we’re together all the time.” At the end of the program, Mohanji gave Shaktipat. I didn’t know what it was. I stood in front of him, with his thumb on my third eye, and absorbed his energy, feeling the wonderful vibrations, over and over again, as long as there was room in me for them. And, you will surely agree with this, since then, Mohanji has been with me every day. He is my greatest and wisest friend. I can trust him completely, because not only is he pure love, but he is also free from the influence of emotions and patterns when he gives me advice and instructions on what is good and should be done. He is my mirror. Every time I get angry, I say to my teenage daughter: “Stop fighting me. Just listen to me and do it. Just do it”, then I hear him say to me, only without anger, calmly: “I tell you the same thing.”

How would I evaluate, describe my spiritual path four years later? I am at the age of a spiritually rebellious teenager. It just seems I was stuck in that part of the road for many lives. It is high time I grew up!

Much love.

Grace at the time of need

mohanji smile

A beautiful narration of the power of Mai-Tri and one’s deepening connection to Mohanji. Pooja writes about her recent experiences with Mohanji and the profound effect of Mai-Tri received by her dad. Subhasree also shares her experience as the Mai-Tri practitioner who responded to Pooja’s message for help in the most unexpected way.

By Pooja Jobanputra, UK

I would like to share my recent experiences and ongoing beautiful journey with Mohanji.

At the outset of the corona pandemic, I began to listen more regularly and with an increasing passion to Mohanji’s podcasts, videos, and blogs. This period has allowed me to connect to Mohanji’s consciousness at a much deeper, profound level. I have begun to experience subtle changes in my way of thinking and have felt the presence of Mohanji in my daily life. It feels incredible, it feels as though I have found my way in the world and it feels like I need nothing else. I bow to the feet of Mohanji and the Tradition for showing me the way and guiding me to a new way of living.

podcast

I have found myself eagerly awaiting each new video, podcast, and programme on the UK Facebook page. I have been encouraged to join the EBC Club and the daily Power of Purity meditation sessions, and I have enjoyed every moment. It has been thought-provoking, life-changing and has given me the chance to experience pure happiness like nothing else.

I have also connected profoundly with Shirdi Sai Baba through Mohanji’s guidance and this connection has also started another beautiful journey of love for Baba. A recent experience has shown me the power of the Masters at work and provided me with huge respect for the Tradition.

One day, I received a call from my mother who was concerned about my dad as he was feeling unwell and increasingly uncomfortable with some heartburn. She was very worried and asked me to come as she was calling an ambulance.

As soon as I got to their place, I could see that my father was struggling. He was uncomfortable and had been feeling this way for a few days. Within a few minutes, the paramedics came and identified an issue on his ECG. He was told to go to the hospital with them and my mother was becoming anxious.

pooja 2

As these events were unfolding, something happened within me where I could feel inner strength. I prayed to Mohanji and Baba to help and guide. I had watched a video about the power of Baba’s Udi just the week before, and I could feel that things just started to flow. I asked my mum to give some Udi in water to my dad, as he made his way to the ambulance. He drank the water quickly and I just knew this would help him. I saw a small picture frame of Baba in my mother’s kitchen shrine and I placed it in my father’s bag. Again, this just happened like second nature.

I felt the need to connect with Mohanji and placed a message in the global prayer group. It was late in the night and I was not sure if anyone would see it, but I just did it quickly. I remember very clearly now that Subhasree came into my mind at that point, but I knew it was too late to call anyone. I somehow connected with Subhasree, and again I cannot explain, there are no coincidences. Grace was beginning to flow.

The ambulance crew were not happy with the second ECG and decided to go quickly to the hospital. Again, I felt a sense of calmness. I prayed to Baba and Mohanji, and I asked them to do whatever was in the best interests of my dad.

The paramedics decided to change course and go to a local specialist heart hospital, this was not a coincidence. It just happened like clockwork. No panic, no stress, just a sense of stillness that I felt.

As I waited in the hospital car park, I chanted Sai mantras and connected with Mohanji. I looked at my phone and saw that one person had sent prayers for my dad and then I saw Subhasree’s message. It literally pinged out of my phone with a thump!

I could not believe that she replied at this exact time of need. It was all like clockwork. She reassured me immediately as we messaged and prayed and she began Mai-Tri for my dad. Everything flowed and I didn’t feel any anxiety or panic. As soon as Subhasree said Mohanji is with you, I felt him sitting next to me in the car. It immediately calmed me further. I knew that he was taking care.

Mohanji car

My sister drove out of the car park and just as we turned the corner, we saw the paramedics who had taken my dad to the hospital. They were smiling and so helpful, they reassured us that dad had a quick procedure in a record time of 16 minutes to place a stent in his blocked artery and that he was back on the ward.

They said he was lucky to have been seen so quickly and that all had gone well with a good outcome. We spoke to him and he was fine and resting.

I could feel what had happened and I began to piece it together. Subhasree had been woken unusually that day, I had asked for help and it had come. Divine grace flowed and flowed, and my dad had not felt any pain during the procedure. Mai-Tri had been given whilst the procedure was being done.

Pooja1

The consultant, who is renowned for his skill and speed, had decided unexpectedly, to stay late that day as he was running late. He decided to spend the night at the hospital which he was not planning to do, I later found out. Again, this was not a coincidence.

I shall be eternally grateful to Mohanji, the Tradition, and to Subhasree for the love and grace given to my family that day. Eternal love, eternal gratitude!

By Subhasree Thottungal, UK

That day was a very busy day at work. Long working hours, constantly being on conference calls, by evening I was pretty drained. Shyama happened to call me for something and she realised that I was not feeling my usual self. She kindly suggested me to have a Mai-Tri session. I requested her to give me a session and then fell asleep around 11 pm. I was fast asleep.

Suddenly, I woke up and checked the time. It was 12:30 am. Once I fall asleep, normally I don’t wake up in the middle and that night when I was so tired and had received Mai-Tri, there was no reason for me to wake up. Instead of trying to fall asleep again, I just took my phone to see the time and looked at my WhatsApp. There I saw a message on the Global Chant and Prayer group from Pooja (she is from our Mohanji UK family) about her father being taken into hospital due to heart issues.

I sent my prayers for him on that group. Soon, I saw that she had messaged me privately. She was desperate to connect to Mohanji and to receive his healing for her father. While sitting at the hospital car park, she was feeling very distressed. I was guided to send her Mohanji’s Shiva Kavacham to listen and also told her that, “Mohanji is sitting right next to you.” Of course, I don’t plan and say these words nor do I say this just like that! I realised that Mohanji was sending her the message. I was just an instrument. After a few minutes, I also did a Mai-Tri session for Pooja’s father.

Around 1:20 am, Pooja messaged me saying that her father had been given the correct treatment he had urgently needed and was now recovering! While Pooja and I were talking about Mohanji’s presence with him and her, and while she was listening to the Shiva Kavacham, and while I was doing the distant Mai-Tri for him, exactly during that time, her dad was undergoing the procedure!

No doubt Mohanji was there with Pooja and her father right from the beginning when she started calling him, but he also ensured that Pooja feels his presence! By this time, I had realised that I didn’t wake up by chance! Mohanji woke me up! I had to send his message to Pooja, I had to pass on Mohanji’s energy through Mai-Tri. After that I fell sound asleep.

The next morning Pooja called me and narrated the whole thing and her realisation of Mohanji’s protection, his grace, and how faith and surrender work in reality! She even mentioned that when I sent her the message saying, “Mohanji is sitting right next to you”, she felt Mohanji in her car next to her and she immediately felt very relaxed!

Being a witness to this incident, I realised that this is yet another reminder to all of us how Mohanji is with us all the time, 24×7. Big or small, whatever the matter maybe, when we call out to him with deep faith, we can clearly see how his grace flows.

I am so happy to feel Mohanji’s grace, witness Mohanji’s miracles, and to be a real character in Mohanji Satcharitra!

My encounter with Mohanji

By Vanita Bunwaree, Mauritius

It all started in April 2020 during the confinement period due to Covid-19. I went to many Masters till 2009; although I was practising, I did not seem to evolve on the spiritual path and I was getting quite frustrated. Sometime back in December in 2019, an old friend kept talking about Shirdi Sai and the experiences he encountered, but I just listened casually.

Mohanji and Sai

In March 2020, after the lockdown was announced, I thought why not read a bit on Shirdi Sai and I google-searched him and his teachings. I came across the famous and holy book Sai Satcharitra, which I asked my friend to lend me to read. Reading through the pages, I started developing faith in Baba. I started doing Baba’s naam jaap and asked him to give me his darshan. I was also watching Youtube videos on Sai Baba devotees and came across Mohanji’s experiences with Baba.

One night during my meditation, I kept trying hard to see Baba’s face but instead saw Mohanji’s face. Again, I tried to see Baba but saw Mohanji and I felt a strong connection especially on my forehead region. Days later, again in meditation, I saw Mohanji and felt my breath going up and down the spine. Then I understood that Shirdi Sai wanted me to connect to Mohanji. From that time, I started reading everything on Mohanji, his experiences, his blogs, his meditations. I went through all Mohanji’s pages on Facebook and whatever the country, I followed the FB pages.

mohanji3

I felt I needed support as I was all alone and I knew no one in my country who was connected to Mohanji. I did send messages to a person in my country but there was no reply. I started to practice Power of Purity (POP) and 360 degrees meditations. While reading about the Mai-Tri method, I felt I needed to do it. The occasion appeared in May when I saw an invitation for group Mai-Tri with Preeti Duggal. I enrolled and went through the transformative process. The next day I called Acharya Preeti and again related to her my experience of coming across Mohanji and told her, “Please, when you meet Mohanji give him all my love.” In my mind, I thought that I have never met Mohanji physically, will he know I exist? I wanted to see/hear from Mohanji.

THE FORGIVENESS BOOT CAMP

Few days after the Mai-Tri session while scrolling through pages of Mohanji, I came across the invitation for ‘The Power of Forgiveness’ boot camp. I eagerly enrolled and we got the instructions for the boot camp day by day. It was such a well-designed programme with meditations that were well spaced, the reading part for each day, the selfless seva (service) to animals, and the Mai-Tri sessions done out of so much love.

The first day, I had a few queries and that is when I came across this beautiful and selfless person, Mohanji Acharya Lakshmi. I went through this boot camp with all her support and love. Some days, I felt strong emotions surfacing with lots of energy that I could not sleep and she kept guiding me. The 5-speed breathing told by Lakshmi had instant effects. Immediately, I could feel a change in the body’s vibrations. During the boot camp, my thoughts kept drifting to Mahavatar Babaji and I could see his image clearly in my mind. I even related this to Lakshmi as I thought my mind might be playing tricks but she told me if the thought is on Babaji, it means that I am connected to him. I realised that she was sent by Mohanji to guide me.

maitri

On the last day of the camp, she told me that Swamiji will do a live session of Mai-Tri on zoom. Initially, I thought I would do that the next day as the time in my country would be 9 pm and my mind was telling me to postpone. Then by afternoon, something told me to go through it. I went through the Mai-Tri process which was conducted by Swami Mohana Bhaktananda Bharati. As he guided us through the intense mantras of different deities and gurus, I felt intense energy and a lot of emotions came up. Swamiji kept telling us to release in whatever way; screaming, crying, shouting, even cursing, if we feel like releasing. I went through all these processes and at the end of the process, I felt much lighter.

The next day, I felt a lot of anger and irritation surfacing but Lakshmi reassured me that things were getting released. That day, I sent a message to Swamiji to thank him for the Mai-Tri session and I was overwhelmed when he replied to my message by saying, “All this happened due to your devotion and love and you have a special place in Mohanji’s heart and he is sending a bit of extra love to you.” It was as if through Swamiji, I got the answer to the message I sent through Preeti Duggal on sending my love to Mohanji.

The next day, after boot camp, I asked Lakshmi if Swamiji has written or said anything about his transformation with Mohanji or if there was any blog that he had written and if he was a ‘normal person’ before he became a Swamiji. After some minutes she told me, “You are lucky! Tonight, he will talk on his transformation on Mohanji page.” Listening to Swamiji gave me immense faith and conviction that for every person irrespective of his past weaknesses, we can all be transformed.

This boot camp has indeed been very special and full of love. I was guided step by step by Mohanji through Acharya Lakshmi and other Acharyas.

Power of Purity – 41 days

POP

Soon after, I sent a mail concerning a query I had in meditation to Mohanji Acharyas. At the same time, the 41 days of PoP was being launched and they asked me to join. I did join in and the energy field I experienced was very different from the PoP which I practice when I am alone. I felt an intense silence that was growing after about 7 days of practice.

During that period, something strange happened. I asked Baba when he would give me his darshan. That day, I invited a friend of mine to come home the next day at 3 pm. He casually said he had a surprise for me. At first, I thought it was a material item but later that night, I had a strong thought in my mind where I heard Baba saying that he will come to my house tomorrow. At the same time, it occurred to me that the surprise was about Baba. I told my friend, “Tell me, the surprise is Baba, right?” He was taken aback and said, “How did you know?” He also added that before I told him to come to my house, the night before, he ordered Baba’s photos and the shop told him they would be ready at the same time and day I asked him to come to my house. I was filled with joy understanding Baba’s grace and I remembered the story in the Sai Satcharitra where Baba gave his darshan through his photo to a devotee.

I can only say that I feel blessed and grateful that in a short period, I have been offered so many opportunities by the grace of Masters of the Tradition to accelerate my growth and evolution on the spiritual path.

Fond Memories of Vasudevan Swami

mohanjichronicles-author-Rajesh Kamath Mohanji Acharya

By Rajesh Kamath

Four years back to this day (July 12th 2020), Vasudevan Swami, a disciple of Bhagavan Nityananda and a powerful Master of the Nath tradition, took samadhi (a saint’s conscious exit from the body) in Ganeshpuri. Mohanji had the greatest respects for this spiritual powerhouse who hid within a bent, frail, old and very ordinary looking frame. One could easily dismiss him for a weak, old man who wouldn’t merit a second glance. His unassuming nature, innocence and purity, coupled with an unshakeable faith in his Master, Bhagavan Nityananda, were the hallmarks of his personality. Mohanji considered him a perfect epitome of devotion. He was the priest of the Nath Mandir at Vajreshwari, where Macchindranath and Gorakshanath, the leading lights of the Nav Nath Tradition did intense penance and were blessed by the Goddess to write the book, the Nath Rahasya (The Secrets of the Naths). This temple has the padukas (divine imprints of the feet) of Macchindranath and Gorakshanath.

Nath tradicija

The previous priest in the temple was designated to be a Shankaracharya (one of the four heads for each of the four directions, who are highly revered leaders of Hinduism). When he came to visit Bhagavan Nityananda, Bhagavan is said to have asked him to choose between fame or liberation. When he decided liberation, Bhagavan Nityananda asked him to leave everything and become a priest of this tiny temple that is right in front of the Vajreshwari temple. The place is extremely powerful, and Swamiji used to say that none can enter this place by chance. It is guarded by unseen divine beings who keep the causal visitors away. Only the fortunate few who have the permission of Bhagavan Nityananda and the Nav Nath greats are allowed by the Divine. It is genuinely so because even the flower sellers right outside the gates are unaware of the spiritual potency of this place. There are hardly any visitors in this temple even though it is literally a stone’s throw from the Vajreshwari temple which sees a steady throng of religious seekers. The priest of such a temple can hardly be an ordinary person, and one can understand the level of purity and subtlety that would be expected of one who is fortunate to bear that mantle.

Interestingly, it was just yesterday that Mohanji was reminiscing about Vasudevan Swami during a discussion on devotion.  Mohanji used the example of Vasudevan Swami’s extraordinarily simple prayers to highlight the power of pure love. If Swamiji missed Lord Krishna, he would say, “Lord Krishna, I have grown old and feeble, and my eyesight fails me. How will I ever get your darshan (divine vision) now?” At these words, Lord Krishna would appear before Swamiji, stay with him for as long as Swamiji desired and leave an imprint of the form he appeared in, on the wall of the temple. Once when Mohanji visited him, he told Mohanji, “I am so happy today. Hanumanji came here today and meditated here while I was doing aarati. I saw someone come and sit behind me while doing aarati. After the aarati, I looked behind and saw Hanumanji sitting quietly and meditating. He just left.” One could see a greasy outline on the wall as if a giant person with oil all over his body had sat down with his back touching the wall. The entire wall was full of such impressions from the forms of the Divine Mother, avatars of Lord Vishnu, Lord Shiva, the Naga Devatas (the deities from the highly evolved realm of Naga Loka who take the form of snakes on earth), and so on. Mohanji mentioned that each imprint was like a prana pratistha (an infusion of the living energy of the deity into an idol of a temple). Imagine the power of the place which had the imprint of every conceivable deity in that place. Mohanji further added that his call was so powerful and filled with supreme love and devotion that the Lord had no option but to show up.

Once when Mohanji was in Mumbai, he suddenly told us in the morning that he would like to visit Ganeshpuri, the place forever hallowed by Bhagavan Nityananda. Though unplanned, we always relished a visit to Ganeshpuri to be with Mohanji in the divine presence of Bhagavan Nityananda. Usually, before going to the main temple in Ganeshpuri, Mohanji visited Vasudevan Swami first at the Nath mandir. Mohanji often said that he preferred the peace in Swamiji’s temple to the milling crowds in the samadhi temple of Bhagavan Nityananda in Ganeshpuri. Swamiji loved Mohanji immensely. He was ecstatic to see Mohanji and welcomed him with a lot of love. As we sat down to talk to him, Swamiji told Mohanji that he just remembered Mohanji in the morning. He thought that it would be nice to meet Mohanji but then lamented that it may not be possible given Mohanji’s crazy travel schedule. He wondered that Mohanji could be anywhere in the world and was sad at the improbability of a meeting. Mohanji said, “Swamiji, your single thought was enough to make me so restless in Mumbai that I was literally dragged to Ganeshpuri to pay you a visit.” Mohanji told some of us then that the purity and love in Vasudevan Swami’s thoughts make them commands that the universe must obey. He told us many times that Swamiji does not request the deities. He commands them to make the outcome happen.

He would always give Mohanji the holy ash that was the residue of the incense sticks that he used during his daily prayers to Bhagavan Nityananda. Mohanji revered and respected this offering from Vasudevan Swami and gave it to many of his close followers for protection or as a solution to their situations and problems. Once when I visited him, Swamiji gave me some ash with this disclaimer, “This ash is made holy by this place and by my Guru, Bhagavan Nityananda. If you consider it powerful, it can heal anything. It has healed incurable diseases and fulfilled the desires of all who believed in its power and had faith in my Guru. If you don’t believe, then it is just useless ash. Use it as you will.” He attributed all the powers and the source of the miracles to his Guru, Bhagavan Nityananda. He had no ownership. His insignificance was his strength. Since he needed nothing other than his Guru, he had all his Guru’s powers at his disposal. In that way, I saw in him a reflection of Mohanji.

He once said, “Chant with every fibre of your being. Your very being should resonate with the love of the Lord. When you sing your devotions to the Lord, do it with the power that will bring the Lord before you. Sing shamelessly and loud. Never be ashamed of your devotion to the Lord. Let the whole neighbourhood hear your song. Every breath must sing the name of the Lord all the time. That is the key to being one with the Lord. Always remember that.” I asked him how one can ensure the name of the Lord with every breath. He said that you need to work hard to reach that state. Unfortunately, no shortcuts there. Whenever we visited, he would lovingly enquire about Mohanji and his location, schedule and activities. He would tell us that he prayed for Mohanji’s well being every day without fail.

Once when Mohanji came to visit him, he excitedly opened the cupboard and took out many nice, expensive dhotis and shawls and gave them to Mohanji. Mohanji objected and requested Swamiji, “You are wearing tattered and torn clothes while you have these nice clothes in the cupboard. I can’t accept your gift. Instead, I would be delighted if you wore them instead.” He persisted several times, but Mohanji declined and repeated his earlier request. Finally, Swamiji became silent, walked away and sat in the corner of the temple with a sad, sulking face. Mohanji went up to him and asked him the reason for his sadness. He did not reply. Finally, Mohanji asked him, “What will make you happy?” Swamiji said ruefully, “Only if you accept the clothes I wanted to give you.” Mohanji humbly told Swamiji that he would like to see Swamiji happy and would gladly accept whatever he gave him. Swamiji immediately got up with childlike joy and gave the entire bundle of clothes to Mohanji. Once Swamiji had been felicitated by the trust, who gave him a few clothes and a shawl. He wondered what to do with them and connected mentally to Bhagavan Nityananda seeking an answer. Bhagavan Nityananda responded, “Give them to Mohanji.” Swamiji was perplexed thinking, “How will I locate Mohanji? He could be anywhere in the world.” This time again, Mohanji was lovingly “dragged” the same day from a neighbouring city to being in Swamiji’s overpowering and loving presence. Mohanji asked Swamiji why he chose to wear tattered clothes when he had the opportunity to wear better clothes. Swamiji said, “If I wear nice clothes, people will think I am rich and will bother me. Now, they take me for a poor, useless old man and leave me alone. I prefer my peace to other’s glowing opinions of my terrestrial stature.”

When we were at Ganeshpuri for a retreat, Mohanji decided to meet Vasudevan Swami, one morning towards the end of the retreat. He asked, “What’s for breakfast?” Someone said, “Dosa” (a pancake made from rice flour and ground pulses). Mohanji asked to pack some, and we left to meet Swamiji. We couldn’t find Swamiji in the temple or his living room. We then saw him hunched over the stove in the kitchen. He was thrilled to see Mohanji. He said that he would make tea and breakfast for Mohanji. Mohanji replied that he had brought him breakfast. He was overjoyed and almost moved to tears. He said, “Mohanji got me breakfast.” He then requested Mohanji to have breakfast with him. Mohanji said that he had only come for a brief visit and he wanted Swamiji to have all the breakfast. It was only for him. Swamiji reluctantly agreed. They spoke briefly, and Mohanji requested his permission to leave. For the first time, he walked Mohanji to the door of the temple and stepped outside to wave Mohanji goodbye. Normally, he would be seated on his bed or in the temple when we would leave. Before we left, he beckoned Mohanji to come near and said, “I want you to know two things. Firstly, Not a day goes by when I don’t think of you. Secondly, I want you to know that my Guru, Bhagavan Nityananda, lives with you always.” He had tears in his eyes. As we looked back to wave back to him, Mohanji said, “Take a good look at him. This is the last time we will see him in the flesh. This was his final goodbye.” In a few months, he took samadhi while Mohanji was in Croatia (this is explained in vivid detail in this blog post by Madhusudan Rajagopalan)

I feel nostalgic as well as sad as I ruminate over the fond memories of our past moments with Swamiji, and I am deeply grateful to Mohanji for allowing us to meet this epitome of devotion and humility. My most profound and humble prostrations to this gentle saint as I seek his blessings to allow us to follow his example and develop the unshakeable strength of devotion in the Guru and the self-effacing, selflessness to do every task surrendered to the Guru’s will.

Guru Poornima mantra chanting

Mohanji1

By Nirupma Chowdhary, India

Today (on Guru Purnima), I had a profound experience during our Google Meet get together which was arranged to chant the new mantra that Mohanji had given us during the Guru Poornima week. We were to chant this mantra with all the new initiates.

Yesterday, I received a message from Aditya, our country head. He asked me if I could chant this new mantra live, exclusively for the new initiates for an hour. Then he messaged saying it had to be done on Google Meet. I informed him that I didn’t have the app and could do it only on my phone. There was no reply or message from him yesterday.

This morning I got up and listened to Mohanji’s Guru Poornima message and was trying to finish my daily chores before the eclipse started. The first thing on my mind was to chant this powerful and beautiful mantra 108 times. I lit the lamp and did the chanting. It was around 8:55 am when my phone rang and it was Aditya calling.

He said, “Nirupmaji, start chanting the new mantra at 9 am on Google Meet.” I was shocked and not prepared. I told him that I didn’t have Google Meet. He was as cool as ever and asked me to download it immediately. Believe me, I just had a few minutes to set the altar, change clothes, and start the session.

With Mohanji’s grace, we managed to start at 9:05 am. The chanting began, and to my surprise, it was not my voice that I could hear. Slowly the momentum began. I felt a few souls near me playing string instruments. They were all dressed in white, translucent clothes.

As we were chanting, Mohanji came and sat on a decorated wooden stool with his feet resting on a brass plate. Many people came and started doing abhishekam (ritual bathing) with milk, curd, honey and water. Then he got up, went to change and came back and sat on a chair. Everyone applied tilak (mark on the forehead), placed garlands  on his neck and tied sacred threads on his wrist. And to my amazement, now I was chanting each chant in a different voice corresponding to the person offering prayers to Mohanji.

My spine started burning slowly and heat reached my crown chakra. I felt that I would faint. Suddenly, I felt Mohanji’s hand on my head and it took away all the heat. Feeling blissful at that moment, I continued chanting for an hour. The mantra is very powerful and it took me to a different realm altogether in the presence of my Guru, where I chanted all through his abhishekam and puja.

Do request for this mantra (by writing an email to acharyas@mohanji.org) and experience the bliss it brings.

By Raghvendra Pandey, India

I have had several experiences of Sai Baba from late 2018, after Dussehra. By Baba’s grace, I started overcoming a long battle with depression and was even blessed with a baby boy in December 2019. I started to watch a lot of Mohanji’s videos on YouTube and became curious to understand more about life and its purpose. I began to watch more and more of these videos.

I also started to chat with Mohanji Acharyas on Facebook about my depression. I recently had my first Mai-Tri session and got to know about the Power of Purity meditation as well. I recently had a dream where I could hear a voice saying something about Jnaneshwar and Lord Shiva. It was a long discussion in the dream, but in the morning I remembered only Jnaneshwar and Lord Shiva (these 2 names). Soon I forgot about it, but yesterday I saw a video on YouTube where Gautamji was talking about Jnaneshwar and Guru Poornima.

Sathya Sai
Sathya Sai Baba

Then I realised that I should join the group which was learning the new mantra. While chanting the new mantra, I saw Mohanji throwing ashes and also Sathya Sai Baba. I just finished another session of chanting this new mantra, and my heart is filled with love and gratitude.

In Remembrance of Guru Purnima 2020

“This is the day for respecting the masters. This is the day that we remember to respect them because most of the days we take them for granted; we take their teachings for granted. We take Gurus for granted. We take ourselves for granted. Hence, this is the beautiful day to remember who we are, who they are; and eventually, how we are together.

There is no Guru outside of you apart from the Guru inside of you. If you are eligible for a Master, the Master has to happen; you will create that Master. The Master manifests by itself because you deserved a Master. If you’re ready for an information, that information must reach you. This is the law of nature.”

Verses of Faith

‘Grace’ was just another  word
Till You came into our lives;
Be it personal, professional or spiritual, Every aspect could feel its vibes.

‘Gratitude’ was just a thank you word
Till You taught us what it means;
For life, for breath, for food, for family
To  express every moment; has got into our  genes.

‘Surrender’ we never comprehended this word,
Till we did this to you and saw the  change;
The persona transformed
So did every  speck within our range.

‘Purity’ could be such a meaningful word,
Did not we ever realise ;
It should be in thoughts, words and actions
Your teachings made us to imbibe and prioritise.

‘God’ we knew the word,
‘Guru’ we comprehended the word;
But little did we fathom their vastness
Till your presence guided us to light from darkness.

No Gospels, no preaching
Simple words, encouraging
Motivated us to innovate
Add dreams to little lives
Give them wings to fly
And when you gave me wings to fly
I just don’t know
Oh! Mohan ji. My Guru

Residing within me to flourish.
I surrender my being
In Gratitude

The Guru, the guide,  the father

Not binding nor bound

Neither preaching nor expecting

Just holding our hand

Giving us strength to Accept

Presence without presence

Mohanji Turtle

By Mahesh Bhalerao, Canada

When you love Mohanji from the bottom of the heart, Mohanji does appear, you can feel and observe Mohanji’s presence. It happens with awareness and if your sentiments are strong, you can undoubtedly feel Mohanji’s presence.

Mohanji yelllow

We have all had so many experiences in the past; however, Mohanji Datta Tapovan (MDT) Ashram, Toronto, is a place where you can strongly feel Mohanji’s presence even though he is physically not present at the ashram site. Mohanji’s last visit in June 2019 was very powerful and a strong presence of Guru Mandala was experienced because we had Mohanji Acharya training conducted by Mohanji at the MDT Ashram. After finishing the program, Mohanji left for his next destination on June 27th, 2019, and while leaving when I went to see him, I was feeling very nervous and sad, and Mohanji said to me, “I am going, however, I am not going, you will feel me.”

This beautiful experience unfolded whereby I felt his presence in his room, very soon after Mohanji leaving Canada.

At Mohanji Datta Tapovan Ashram, Mohanji has a room and when I went inside the room on June 28th, 2019, I felt Mohanji’s strong presence and he gave me his darshan sitting on his usual chair. I could see with my eyes that he was sitting on his chair.

This may sound delusional, and I too was carrying the same thought. Maybe it was a hallucination. However, my doubt was cleared by one more evidence of Mohanji’s presence at the ashram. This time it was his footprint on the cushion, which Mohanji normally uses under his feet, whenever he sits in the main sitting area near the fireplace. My son Neerav also confirmed the same and then I realised that it was not a hallucination and his presence was evident and true. Later, when Sanjay Bhai came, he also saw the same and confirmed the presence of the footprint as Mohanji’s presence without presence.

Even after one year, on June 19th, 2020, at 3:30 am, I heard a noise in Mohanji’s room. Because of the Early Birds Club, I was awake and ready to do my daily Sadhana. I heard a noise and my first thought was, what was that noise and who might be in that room early at 3:30 am? I really felt that someone was in that room.

BABA

I checked the door and it was locked. The second thought was it must be Mohanji, and I opened the door and went inside, putting the diya (lamp) in front of the Sai idol. I could feel a presence, had goosebumps and literally felt the energy source moving around exactly as if someone was walking in the room behind me.

I realised that it was Mohanji’s energy as his favourite perfume smell in the room at the time was very strong. As I was sitting there thinking in my mind if this was real, there was a noise in the room again, this time it was from the washroom. My joy had no boundaries as Mohanji was responding to my thoughts. I prayed to Mohanji that I was very happy, my Father/Baba (Mohanji) was present with me on my birthday, and as usual, started crying and was on the floor doing Sashtang Namaskara (prostrations). After a while, I left the room thinking that if this is all real, I would like to see Mohanji in any physical form.

Lord Datta

After performing the Kakad aarati, while I was at Lord Dattatreya’s temple around 8:15 am, I saw an unusual movement on the ground near the temple. Curious and a little upset as I thought that someone had thrown some garbage on the ground, I went closer and realised it was moving. After taking a good look, I realised that it was a turtle! I ran back to the basement kitchen to bring some food for it. I was happy to see the turtle because at the same time last year when Mohanji was at the ashram, we saw a turtle, and that turtle was referred to as Maha Vishnu Swarup (a form of Lord Vishnu).

For me, it was darshan of my Maha Vishnu MOHANJI, my Father had shown me his physical presence in a unique way. For me anything and everything is Mohanji, as it says in Mohanji’s aarati, ‘Bhagavan Brahma Vishnu and Shiva Swarup, which is nothing but Lord Dattatrya as one.

I believe that Mohanji himself appeared in the form of a turtle showing me his Vishnu Swarup. I did Vishnu Shastra names chanting and Lord Dattatreya’s aarati. My strong belief is that Mohanji is a Swarup of Lord Dattatraya and his consciousness resides in all living beings as well as in the smallest living sukshma (subtle or intangible), beings on Earth.

My humble and loving gratitude to Mohanji for showing me his presence in the Mohanji Datta Tapovan Ashram in such a beautiful and tangible way.

Mohanji in blue

Kalpataru series – Blessings manifold during Guru Purnima 2019

DeviAmmaandMandDevi-2

By Rekha Murali, India

On this joyous occasion of Guru Purnima of July 2020, I was transported back to the celebrations last year. My heart wells up in gratitude as I relive the moments of the blissful day in the presence of two great Masters. Yes indeed, blessings were showered on all those present there, by both, my Guru Mohanji and the great Siddha Devi Amma.

It all started with a sudden desire to be in Mohanji’s presence for at least one Guru Purnima. This was wish one on my checklist. Things worked out smoothly, I could rearrange my commitments and soon found myself comfortably on the way to Bangalore for a satsang that was announced with Mohanji.

Deep down, I had another wish to meet Devi Amma on this auspicious day. Chances did not seem so bright as she lived far away from the main city and my stay in the city was only for a day. Moreover, the satsang was planned on the other side of the town. But on my way to Bangalore, I got a message from a dear friend that Devi Amma would be present for the satsang with Mohanji. The second wish on my checklist was also fulfilled.

With a heart filled with gratitude, I soon found myself in a taxi on the way to the venue. As I got off at the station, the Uber app which I relied on, stopped working and I couldn’t find a single cab. A man suddenly approached me and showed me his Uber credentials and was willing to take me to the venue for a flat rate which was reasonable. I had done my homework previously. I thought I was very lucky while on my way. But soon he started asking me for extra fare and I slowly started praying to Mohanji till we reached the venue. I did not interact much with him and quickly alighted from the cab giving him the money that we had initially agreed upon. So with thanks on my lips, I went into the venue and was soon involved in the preparations for Mohanji’s arrival.

Aditya Nagpal and I were assigned the seva of manning the front desk.  Soon Mohanji arrived with his parents and Devi Mohan, and all of us assembled in the room waiting for Devi Amma. Mohanji teased Aditya a lot but did not say anything to me.  I had the opportunity in the meantime to present a bouquet of flowers to Mohanji on the request of a devotee who couldn’t be present there. Devi Amma arrived and all of us assembled once again in pure happiness and bliss at this double treat of seeing two great Masters together. They appeared as the powerful Shiva and Shakti! A moment to be cherished for lifetimes!

The satsang commenced and both great Masters answered various questions.  Aditya and I were seated at the back and my eyes were just closing and I could not understand anything of what Mohanji was speaking. I was just floating in the energy of the place and nothing entered my thick skull. Aditya then shared that it was because of the high energy in the room. At the back of the mind, I also had a sudden desire for Shaktipat from Mohanji and felt only then would this trip be complete. Wish number three on my checklist was also fulfilled as Mohanji announced that he would give Shaktipat to all those present. My heart danced in joy and I patiently awaited my turn.

I soon approached Mohanji with a racing heart as for no reason I was simply brimming with happiness. As Mohanji gave me Shaktipat, I was overjoyed and it felt as though I needed nothing more. I was grinning from ear to ear, in joy that is indescribable.  This had never happened before. It was the pure joy of just ‘being’ with no thoughts, completely empty and fully present in a moment of bliss. Usually, I would be solemn and just allow the Master to fill me up. However this time, I felt he had given me everything. After the Shaktipat, he quietly held my hands and gently asked me, “Are you happy?” These three words made me understand how he hears each word that is unspoken and fulfills the smallest of wishes that flit across in our thoughts. Till then I had not spoken to him and in reply, all that I could do was mumble a yes with tears of joy streaming down my face. His unconditional love filled up completely.

rekha gp

With his blessings, I ran into the loving embrace of Devi Amma.  She hugged me, blessed me, enquired about every family member, particularly about my son, and at the same time blessing him. My cup was full and I couldn’t have asked for more.

rekha2

It ended all too soon and it was time to return. My friend Radha Sreenivas and I had no transport to return to the city and there were no cabs available. We were trying our best to get a cab but somehow I was not worried.  I just assured Radha that we would ask someone to drop us off at a place where we could get cabs. Most of the people had left by then and as we were finishing our dinner, a guest whom I had not met before, joined us at the table. She (Mini Gopinath) overheard the two of us trying to book a cab and gently offered to drop us off in her car. Thank you, Mini. It turned out that she had to go to the exact same area where I was heading! Need I say more? Although he was not present there, Mohanji ensured that everyone returned safely. As he always says, “I do my job!”

On this Guru Purnima, I bow down in gratitude to this wonderful friend, Guide and Master Mohanji who has been a beacon of light leading me gently towards my destination.

Pranaams dear Mohanji with gratitude and love.

Pranaams dear Devi Amma, in whose love I melt and just merge.
