Grace in selfless service

Today there was no salt, no oil, nothing at home. I was offering Mohanji just plain rice, and the doorbell rang. I saw two guys standing with many boxes saying they were in my name. I said they are not mine. (For the last three months, I have not had proper food, just porridge.) After seeing all the grocery that Ammucare sent, it took me some time to come to my senses.

Kalpataru Series – A birthday wish

It was exciting to book my flights to Serbia. The opportunity to see Mohanji again after a few months was a beautiful blessing. My plan was to volunteer during the Acharya training in October and return. While looking at the flights, my husband said that if I stayed a little longer, I would be with Mohanji for my birthday. It was a great suggestion and having managed to get a few more days of annual leave from work; we booked the trip to include the weekend retreat after the Acharya training.

“You didn’t come to me, I came to you. That is how much love I have for my people.” Mohanji

Whenever I read or remember this quote, I am overwhelmed with gratitude and have tears flowing down my cheeks. I come from a family in Kerala, India, where both my parents and in-laws do not believe in following a Guru’s teachings. So even though I was very religious and used to visit temples frequently, I never believed that a Guru would walk into my life and change it forever.

An attitude of gratitude

It’s been a time of deep introspection, where one really looks at what is really important to one, and who is important to one. In my case, I too had to really face my mortality. There were moments where I thought if this is the end of the line for me, then so be it. I will go peacefully and gracefully. It has not been easy, and at times my breathing was a problem, but somehow I have managed to pull through this.
